Applications become 'objects', scripted application features become GUI 'methods'. Easily write your own GUI 'methods' for applications by writing actions= scripts.
Before this, you had to script everything yourself. Now you can reuse scripting code without typing.
Reuse scripting code without having to type anything or define and mess with classes:
AUTOMATOR description for Geeks:
Automator= What would happen if I did a Java Bean type thing for application scripting? You'd get a GUI for working with code fragments/functions:
AppleScript= scripting of application public 'objects'
Automator Actions= plug-ins that are code fragments/functions that conform a little so Automator can use them.
Result- highly reusable scripting code--- why applescript multiple programs, when you can do tiny scripts per program and reuse them in automator--- no copy/paste of code and trouble maintaining changes.
If you have done applescript and the pain of getting the english like commands the right way it wants... when you figure out how to get the application to do what you want, it would be nice to reuse that---but most the time its not worth it you copy/paste maybe put it in a function. But this way its worth it, because reuse will be easy.
The Game was made for N64 but was pushed back to the GameCube. So it was quite old before it hit the GameCube.
Its a WONDERFUL game. I WISH nintendo would have another one made. With the resources(marketing), it would truely be a Resident Evil killer. The game is already better, although I find myself beating Resident Evil 4 three times now---having done Eternal Darkness 3 times already.
PLEASE MAKE IT AGAIN...hell i'd buy a re-relase for Revolution...
The current 'President' is, without a doubt, the worst episode ever. Rest assured, I was on the internet within minutes, registering my disgust throughout the world.
Private schools do not have the demographics of public schools. Aside from the debate on measuring students and baises in testing, there no fair comparision:
demographics are different for kids, parents, income, etc. There are fewer private schools, they can reject anybody and are not as diverse. Culture in america about education is different.
Other countries are getting better. Education is not a product, you have fixed limitations. The deviations are getting smaller, making the rankings less relevant.
In America a political war for education is being waged. This is hurting the students enough that I expect it to show up in such testing. If you look into it, you'll see there are high-ranking ones who are bent on destruction of the american public school system.
Making it suck, marketing it as sucking, making it costly (or appear so,) and creating lose-lose situations ("leave no child behind") are the best way to get people to give it up.
Bills are not as simple as their marketing. 1 or 2 steps forward in the open can often mean 10 steps back they didn't tell you about.
The recent years should have shown you that these "fixes" are often a step back for the public; only those who read it and have the background will know what it will cause or what is at fault in the future. Sorry to say, none of those people will be able to vote on it.
should the government force all.org sites to be real non profits?? Naturally, different countries have different rules..xxx is just as legit as any other non-national TLD.
I'm not exactly happy with TLDs in general. As far as I'm concerned, there should only be national TLDs and that is it. Existing ones don't mean jack. I don't care if they add a bunch of goofy TLDs, because they are a waste to begin with.
If the USA wants to do stupid censorship laws with xxx then it should be.xxx.us. Same for other countries. The TLDs were not thought out in enough depth. I'm for killing all the non-national TLDs.
If I buy something.us someone in CountryX can't claim I caused them mental pain and suffering under their country's laws. Should be that simple. Now if I register under their country, then I should be subject to their laws reguarding the web.
Sure, this global TLD has had some impact on spreading content globally but LAWS are being made ; those benefits are short lived.
.org,.com,.net... all are not accurate and even non geeks realize those distinctions are not worth a whole lot.
For the exact SAME reasoning we had for.info we should have.xxx. We all know that porn is a huge part of the internet, much more than.tv currently is for example, probably more than.biz or the whole output of many countries. If anything deserves it, its the xxx, by content volume, traffic, and participants.
So people may want.xxx for other reasons and not actually do porn, just as all those.com people who get.info and try to fool people with "info" or.org or.net for corps.
As long as you can get to.xxx, even a forced site will still be accessible, even if its censored by its classification. Wake up, libraries and book stores censor by classification already. This is not on that depth, despite it being global in scope. A LARGER issue of wether national laws can be applied to the internet is what is more important--- and a large part of the argument for the U.N. taking this over.
You can open the iBook up and remove the magnetic sensor that detects the lid shutting, then you can run the laptop in a backback and have it still recording. Most those firestore-like drives have no more drive shock protection than a laptop.
Maybe someone has an OS hack to disable the lid sleep thing?
FYI: any firewire iBook will work, and you can put in a LARGE 2.5 ide drive... used "slow" ibooks can be found cheap.
Otherwise, I've been interested in a FreeBSD one, since I've seen there is a DV capture program out there for it. But finding a small cheap firewire laptop pc in the iBook price range is difficult.
Any real power user has to use their other hand on the keyboard to function, with a 1 button mouse, its just another key+mouseClick combo and doesn't take any more time.
I operate JUST as fast either way, except on tasks where a scroll wheel helps---a scroll wheel + single mouse button would be just fine by me.
FYI: i've used from 1 to 6 button mice. I've settled on a 3 button scroll wheel---only because I needed the scroll wheel and got the other 2 buttons (which I use for window management.)
I have a 2.7 Ghz G5 and it loads-- I bet just as fast. The OS loader takes about 1 second, from Mac screen to auto-login takes me about 7 seconds. I have apps open on login.
Hardware load (apple logo) takes 15 seconds, and before the apple logo ram test takes me about 4 seconds.
I've not timed a fresh cleaned system...without lots of devices/software...
If its total boot time, then clearly the progress is being made on the hardware part of booting. probably because its not probing for a large list of hardware or loading as many related kernel extensions.
I wish things were that simple. your point is just a more complex version of the old "both of them do it about the same." Sure that will sell it more with slashdot...
1) no matter who does it, or what degree, its still bad and everything possible should be done to aspire to perfection. We can't settle on the uter crap out there now. Its clear that competition in this field doesn't lead to better reporting. (viewers are to blame too)
2) Fox is clearly more bias. I used to get Brill's Content (remember it?) and that proved it. Fox has gotten more slick but is just as far right as ever. CNN has lost quality, and may have moved more to the right or stayed the same. MSNBC still sucks.
3) Many of the news choices are not done the way you think they are. Politics are hardly ever the deciding factor. In this last decade, things have changed so the bean counters are making more of the choices, and I'll leave it to you to figure the impact of that... They can be swayed with comments/complaints, its all about $, and they need viewers for that as well as advertizers.
Motorola to Apple: da. da. da... Apple to Motorola: IBM set us up the bomb! FU......later.... IBM to Apple: We are too busy, use the left overs from xbox 2, if not Eat S***. You don't have the guts. I think it was primer... wrong paint, its been slowly wearing off, and was sticky for a long item. At least for a while it looked new... its from 1991.
I still have trouble with the carret key; otherwise I'm fine. Nobody can use my machine either:-)
Legally, its SMART to just transfer files. The biggest flaw in torrents is the trackers. They needed to make it somewhat distributed.
If you want to search/browse, use something else. I can't wait for the day when I can click a link in my browser and it downloads just like ftp/http does.
There are many ways to go about it that do not involve some sort of large p2p network.
If you can't figure out an xml plist config, then you are not smart enough to be in the shell.
I'd rather deal with "hard" stuff like xml tags than "easy" stuff like switching with screen to the man page over and over again...
You scared people clearly don't understand plist files and how they represent records and lists. plists should be used MORE than just infrequent things like rc/cron... as far as I'm concerned all configs should be plists.
As for xml being slow...a standard parser may beat a custom parser; besides, configs are not read constantly, which is why xml is well suited. (especially for rc/cron...cron: I doubt it parses unchanged files repeatedly)
culture just covers it up or cuts down the numbers a bit, but it happens at reasonably high levels most cultures; most time periods. Not to mention how different times/cultures differ on the definition of "adult".

I've used FireStore and mac laptops and various firewire drives and configurations.
Firestores and their rip-offs are perfect for killing video tape; however, they cost a lot.
A firestore starts at $700 for 40GB and doesn't run on batteries (costs more for battery.) You can get a n ibook for that kind of money!
The iBook is much better, you can do (simple) editing with iMovie. You can boot it up into Disk mode, and the iBook becomes a firewire drive.
The EXPENSIVE firestore devices are more portable.
NTSC DV is about 12.5 GB/hr
Its only true for intermediate users.

If they mess up we will have a near brain dead person to have congress fight over.
Maybe this time it will look a little less stupid?
This is a childish ignorant and scared administration handling children.
Perhaps the administrators would have grown up more if they had been teachers for 20 years beforehand.
OpenFirmware is done in FORTH, they just need some hardware specifics and a FORTH engine, the rest the firmware will just port over.
Bios might be a short term thing for them.
organized crime is already worse than 'hackers'. Ever hear of spyware? adware?
Sure blame ALL the problems on the teenagers and completely ignore the crime businesses, terrorists, military attacks, business espinoge, etc.
If you can't deal with the kiddies, then you have no chance against the pros.
I wish things were that simple. your point is just a more complex version of the old "both of them do it about the same." Sure that will sell it more with slashdot...
