  1. TI-92 on Recommendations for RPN Calculators? · · Score: 1
Get the TI-92. Mine's lasted me for 7 years so far, and it's probably going to last me a whole lot more. You can download a RPN shell, but there's really no reason to hold a candle to an antiquated system.

The "pretty print" represents equations like we write them, and the storage options are phenomenal. You can store huge gobs of equations into sensible variable names. Huge matrix operations are a breeze.

If you don't want the huge keyboard, get the TI-89.

You don't know what you're missing.

Decent story....maybe. Pacing: Horrible. Cutscene. Wander. Fight. Wander. Cutscene. Wander. Fight. Cutscene. Wander. Fight. The interactivity is the same as it was a decade ago, but the storylines and cinematography have improved to the point of getting in the way of the game. I had the same feelings about Xenosaga. When you're watching a cutscene and you don't want it to end, it's interrupted by some pointless wandering and fighting. After you wander and fight for awhile the gameplay is interrupted by really long film clips.

If this were a novel and the author kept switching between different areas of the story, each time making you wish for more, then it would be a truly enjoyable. But instead, it just annoyed me. If you took the gameplay and stripped it of the cutscenes, the game would be played out and boring. If you took just the cutscenes the video would be breathtaking, but confusing and would encompass way too much continuous whining from the characters. Together it's a confused spastic mess. FFX2? Count me out.

(BTW if you absolutely loved the game, then good, you probably appretiated it in a way that I never can. Go ahead and counter me. I've had movies that I hated until someone pointed out the good points).

I can think of an example:

If you are using a PC to emulate a real time system, that cache would help out in keeping your processes from having to access the slower memory. That means a few extra operations per unit time.

More specifically, if you are doing real time wave modeling that would mean a slightly more complex waveform. Shure you could use a DSP, but if you are in the development stage, it's usually easier to use a desktop system.

Another example would be if you are approximating physical hardware at high speeds. That's a few extra logic gates.

I'm not going to buy one, but if I had the money I would consider it.

First off, good for you for asking for help and asking for others opinions. I know too many people who subscribe to the magic pill solution to their mental state.

    My caveat involves two things.

    1) Ask a trusted friend or two to monitor your behavior. Not heavily, but enought that there are no social barriers to approach you if you start behaving erratically. I've had several friends on the same drugs and they all behave differently. Some excell, but some start developing peculiar traits: aggression, memory loss, ability to focus, but inability to make larger decisions.

    2) Beware alcohol use with these drugs. Even if your doctor or friends say combining the two is fine, it isn't always true. Some people have latent psyco-chemical problems with alcohol which don't always develop until the synergistic effect of psychological drugs interplay. Again, ask friends to be candid about your behavior. You will most likely not have a problem, but since you are concerned enough about your mind functioning correctly, at least make sure it is functioning correctly. You may feel vast improvements, but may be acting aberrantly and not know it. Good Luck

What you are suggesting is that we accelerate the tragedy of the commons. An example of this is overfishing off the eastern seaboard. Since there were so many commercial fisherman and each boat took what they considered to be a "reasonable" amount, none of them individually realized that they were over fishing the area. When the fish ran out, people lost their jobs and the ecosystem was heavily damaged.

Indeed, there is the paradox, since what is the point of having nature if you cannot enjoy it. The cost of using the land, however, sometimes exceeds the benefit. Perhaps the suggestion is that we use the land any way we want to, and in twenty years the paths that man has created in the land have disrupted the ecosystem.

There are people who make decisions on how the parks are used, and they are usually the people that are in the parks everyday. I trust them to understand the nuances of nature, and to try to provide some for the future. If they let people in and off the trail, then fine. If they say hands off, they are just providing a little bit for now so that we can have that same little bit in the future.

If you want to go off the beaten path, find some really out of the way preserves, buy some land, or find friends or family who own some land and go exploring.

While there is value in the ease of downloading, there is the counter value to the seller of having extremely low distribution costs. $0.25 a song seems fair.
