Amen brother. Back in 1995 my standalone databasing application was 10x faster than the web based crap we use today. Even the best web based applications are excruciatingly slow compared to a the same desktop app. I agree that there's some app's well suited for web, but large databases, file repositories, etc are hindered by slow connections, rendering, etc.
Years ago I took my old floppies, recorded them to disk images, and got rid of floppies forever. Why not do the same for these weird formats? Unless you're constantly receiving new tapes/disks, get a reader from Ebay, image your files, then resell the reader. Repeat for other formats.
I kind of agree, but I don't want to have my monitor tied to my computer. I'm looking for the infamous 'headless imac.' Why not call it simply, "Mac."
Give me a single dual core processor, 1 optical drive bay, 2 HD drive bays, 3 PCI-E slots and call it a day.
I work at a large corporation (80k employees). They limit us to 50MB on the exchange server. Yeah, it's a pain in the ass because it forces you to copy locally all the time, but there's no trouble with server support. Backups are left to the user to figure out.
I've been somewhat looking for a similarly free POP webmail client that is this nice. Is there something like this for POP? I'm a mac guy, so a mac interface is a bonus. My current webmail client blows.
If you RTFA you'll note that the image posted here are not of visible Light. "Images taken using infrared, green and ultraviolet spectral filters were combined to create this view..." http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/catalog/PIA07740 I wonder what it really looks like? Perhaps not enough light?
Add a few more iterations of Windows operating systems, and next thing you know, "The Rainbow Screens of Death" All happening at different times, for multiple unapparent reasons!
Funny thing is, this exact thing happened to me at Motorola. There was a message that popped up from 3-4 people on my contact list saying "click here for a picture of you I took." kinda weird, so I didn't click it. Everyone else in the office did though. Stupid! Viruses and spyware abound upon clicking.
Perhaps you can hack it? I just replaced a midplane on my imac, and inside, there's a connector for the monitor. It LOOKS like it could be just standard VGA pin-count wise (albiet a different shape). I bet if you cracked open the imac, disconnected the monitor from the motherboard and wired it up to a KVM and back, you could get it to work. Good luck finding the correct connectors though!
Actually, after replacing the midplane, the computer wouldn't even turn on. The white power light lit up, then nothing. I tried everything from reseating all the connections to resetting the motherboard via the CUDA button. No dice!
I have heard of replacement midplanes crapping out similarly to the original (bad caps). But my problem seems different.
Another question is also wether the design of voltage ripple suppression for the caps is good enough to allow bad caps to perform well. Perhaps it's a two fold issue.
So, do you think they fixed the midplane capacitor issue? I've had to replace one already, and the replacement didn't work... I'm still trying to get my 20" iMac working again. Any insight on this? I really hope they redesigned the board!

You are an asshole. Don't click this link people. Bad news.
This was my senior design project in college. Or similar to it. We had grandios ideas, but got it working (hackingly I must admit). Motorola does not freely release code for interfacing digitally with their data port. Thank god for old analog phones:

I've seen working versions of these from Motorola. Don't ask me the model number though. Is this new news or am I missing something? The Motorola phone auto switches to WiFi in the building, then it's Cingular service outside. I saw it, and played with a working version about a year ago.
Since there's a Civ 3 for mac, how about civ 4? I buy about 1 game every 2 years, and it's usually a flavor of civilization. I wouldn't mind buying Civ 4, but would love to play it on my mac...
My Nextel didn't work at all the first year I went, but the last two years at Bonnaroo I could make calls any time. I thought they cleared the Farm of the COWs before the festival, but apparently they just brought them in...
I got my motor cycle painted (green flames on blue metallic base) for repairing an old compaq and setting up a new dell.

SWEET.
What about plug in electric cars (i.e. Chevy Volt)? Makes stationary power portable. Also, most city subway trains run on electricity too.

My girlfriend does give good BJs. I didn't know it was because of her mac.

The Japanese with nuclear capabilities!!! The humanity!

One thing was not noted in the article: Does the guy physically resemble the bombers from 1 week previous? Or was it just the backpack and such?

I didn't RTFA, but perhaps these will go right into Apple's new designs?

I bet nothing in this page will load; I Adblocked *doubleclick* a long time ago! Firefox rocks.

20 feet by 8 feet by 8 feet eh.... I thought they had that in the 1970s
All 'fast and furious' Hondas do just that...
