Actually a lot of IRC is used as a chatroom. Granted, mostly it's for piracy. I've used IRC to keep in contact with a couple friends in that a re in the army. Also, I know tons of guilds in like Everquest have their own IRC channel to chat on./shrug
More power to him. The people who fund projects are just as important as the people who do the projects IMO. Without the funding you get nowhere. My hats off to this guy.

A company that makes the OS and the hardware and doesn't allow others to do it? Wow, I can hardly wait for the outcry on that. What company would possibly do that?

Turning to consoles? You do know games get pirated just as much as consoles? And they are easier to crack. I think most people are pissed because they are going after the little guys when there are CEO's out running around after screwing thousands of people our of money and retirement while making themselves millions.
The thing is game piracy has been around for years before even MP3's and companies are not going out of business. Hell, games haven't risen in prices much but their production cost is up in the millions now.
I'll stop bitching about going after these college students and start hitting up some of these white collar criminals that affect thousands and cost millions.
Can you imagine the backlash if the MPAA and RIAA started going after soldiers in a battle zone for the little entertainment they get? I bet they would go after them in a heartbeat except there would be huge backlash. I'm sure I'm not the only one on here who has copied his DVD/CD collection and sent oversees to our soldiers. They love this stuff. I encourage anyone to send whatever they can, it'll find someone who loves it.
Last year I made between 29 and 30 grand. I also paid off $1500 interest on my student loans. I had to pay 9 grand out of my paychecks. Come tax day I had to pay another $64. You do the math, isn't that a bit extreme amount to pay in comparison to my total pay?
On another note my brother made almost a million last year and didn't have to pay as much in % as I did in taxes.
Tell me, who does it hurt more? Luckily my brother is really caring about his family and helps everyone out.
How hot are the secretaries and what kind of clothes do they wear? I know if I go in and its a fat chick behind the desk I'm gone! Now, have a hot little girl secretary in a nice little skirt....
Not to mention those soccer moms in SUV's that tail your car with those headlights so they beam into your car at eyelevel. Then they honk when you just flat out stop in the middle of the road and give them the finger.
My 85 BMW gets 40mpg and puts out less emissions then both my parents cars.(96 Buick lesabre, and some newer car I don't know what it is) Cost me $1800 plus about $400 to fix interior, and I can still smoke most of those lame ass rice rockets.
Penn and Teller had a great episode about UFO's. It was very entertaining and interesting.
Do people really think a far superior race is visiting us in secrecy? Probing people and animals, and having children with white trash?
Family Guy I think would have done decent against Friends, if it was at the same timeslot every week. It's problem was it was constantly changing, and I think many people just gave up like I did. I downloaded them all at the time and later bought both seasons on DVD.
I don't care for Letterman and never have. Leno isn't very good, but at times he can hit the spot on a joke. Jaywalking is really the only reason to watch, even though that is getting played out.
I love Conan Obrien myself that guy just cracks me up. Chinese Fabio? Cactus Chef? "Dead baby not included"
What about those of us who want to try the OS out before we pay for it? Some of us would like to make sure the OS works 100% on our systems before shelling out cash.
Sidenote: I've paid for RedHat and Debian CD's and paid for Mandrake, I'm just saying though..
I'd bet many of us are on IE just because we are at work. I'm at work on a windows machine and I'm not allowed to install mozilla. Funny that they have no problems having me install Divx codecs and players and watching movies, but installing Mozilla? Yeah right.

Not to mention with Linux you have a choice of a half a dozen stable programs to do any of that with, right after install. And a single reboot?
