Can some lawyer-type please explain to me why/how this is not prima facie evidence of a massive violation of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act (other than that the victims are not in the US)?
I've been reading about this on other sites this morning. Factories were sending out pirated copies of Windows with PC's. I'm not sure how that falls under anti-trust even tho it's a US act and you're comparing it to China. This is all about pirated software crackdowns in China. Somehow this story has twisted it around to mean they are being force fed Windows.
Would you mind explaining the difference, as far as prayer goes, between a stranger and a loved one? What is this based on? Is there something in the Bible regarding which type of prayer works best? Does the Bible even mention that prayers are an effective way to help others with physical illness?
I think you and the rest of the atheists have confused religion/prayer with a Geni. This isn't a 3 wishes thing where you just ask...sheesh. Would you really want it that way? Someone could be offended by your comment and ask to have your head popped like a zit. *boiioioioioinnnnggg* *POP*
thus the whole "72 virgins" controversy with islamist sects
No it's 72 Virginians waiting to beat the crap out of them. Virgins is just a misinterpretation due to speech barriers.
After getting nailed by a Daisy Cutter, Osama made his way to the pearly gates. There, he is greeted by George Washington. "How dare you attack the nation I helped conceive!" yells Mr. Washington, slapping Osama in the face. Patrick Henry comes up from behind. "You wanted to end the Americans' liberty, so they gave you death!" Henry punches Osama on the nose.
James Madison comes up next, and says "This is why I allowed the Federal government to provide for the common defense!" He drops a large weight on Osama's knee.
Osama is subject to similar beatings from John Randolph of Roanoke, James Monroe, and 65 other people who have the same love for liberty and America.
As he writhes on the ground, Thomas Jefferson picks him up to hurl him back toward the gate where he is to be judged.
As Osama awaits his journey to his final very hot destination, he screams "This is not what I was promised!"
An angel replies "I told you there would be 72 Virginians waiting for you, idiot. What did you think I said?"
But those who actually *believe* in hogwash like that aren't going to be convinced by a scientific study, are they? Cognitive dissonance and stupidity are a mixture that's very difficult to overcome.
The first thought that comes to mind on this is the Christian attempt to prove the world was indeed round
Most people try to spin this the other way around though.
In 1492, every educated man knew that the world was round. So did every ocean-going sailor. The "bigoted church leaders of Spain" did not oppose Columbus. Columbus had in fact been housed, supported, advised, and greatly aided by Spanish monks who encouraged him to present his proposal to the King and Queen. A Dominican priest, later Archbishop of Seville was one of his greatest supporters at the court. There was a University Commission which concluded that plans for his voyage were impractical. But the Commission agreed with Columbus that the world was round and gave no indication that they believed the Bible taught that the world was flat.
The "hogwash" most atheists use to describe religion these days is usually fact based on fiction such as Washington Irving's novel about Columbus that stated the Christians (not the scientists) were the ones saying the world was flat.
Why would God change his plans for a scientific study in which people pray for someone they don't even know? Whoever did this study is obviously not Christian and just wanted a way to publically bash something he doesn't believe in.
Religious people don't just want to remove [insert_immoral_action_here] from their own life. They beleive it is their sacred duty to prevent everyone else from doing it as well. Regardless of the law everyone's agreed to live under. Atheist people don't just want to remove [insert_prayer/symbols_here] from their own life. They believe it is their moral duty to prevent everyone else from doing it in public. Regardless of the law everyone's agreed to live under (freedom of religion/speech).
This is one reason I don't use the ISP email service and used to run my own mail server.
It's not like they can find anything in all that spam anyway. It'd take decades to sort through it all. The end result will be a determination that we all order Viagra, penis enlargement pills, fake diplomas, and drugs from Canada.
Both are more responsive than my 1.5 GHz Celeron with 512 MB RAM when it's running Windows.
You should check out Windows XP for Dummies
I've used all 3 of those for years and find your statement very funny. A P2 350 with 128M of RAM loaded with comparable functioning apps is never going to be more responsive. Booting up, loading Gnome/KDE and Openoffice alone is going to take like 4 minutes on that thing. Now if you're saying it's more responsive booting up into init 3, I can get DOS to load faster than your P2 350 with 128M RAM on a 486DX4 with 4 meg of RAM. AND it'll be more responsive (notice I'm leaving out which functions will be faster)
It's all about perspective and I happen to make a living delving deep into both sides.
And christ -- have you seen most manufacturer basic loads?
I'm a big Linux advocate but this statement is hardly fair since Microsoft isn't the ones adding all of the "crap" to the OS. Also, have you ever loaded up Redhat or Fedora or whatever with what it calls "minimum install" and then gone through to see what it installed? There is over 200-300 meg of crap. ISDN services, modem, etc. Anything installable from the CD shouldn't be on a minimum install by default. Fedora is noticable faster if you go through and remove anything unnecessary.
And before someone says it, Gentoo fixes this and yes I use it. Spending a day emerging KDE wasn't very feasible for a workstation at work though.
Will this help counteract the global warming being caused by well... depleting our other natrual resources?
Sure it will. We eventually tilt the balance and a supervolcano covers the world with a cloud of ash inpenetrable by the sun. When it's all over, humans = oil for the dinosaurs;)
I'm still trying to get nVidia drivers for Linux to work with frontporch and backportch on my 16:9 tv. They have a really old driver that did that but they broke it. I guess they've been busy working on this firestarter card instead.
He's defending himself against slander. Is he not allowed to use his first amendment right to do that without it being interpreted as being anti first amendment by saying they lied?
Movies shown on HDNet or HBO HD look significantly better than DVD's when viewed on an HD set. 1280 x 720 progressive is way better than 840 x 480 interlaced.
Is that the resolution of PAL? I'm at 1920x1080i for HBO HD and INHD and it looks pretty damn good. DVDs on my TV show that they need improvement when you can see all of the blemises and blur on the high quality screen.
Is it the same marketing dept that works for the SciFi channel where they reveal the entire episode in the previews?
They even ruined the cliffhanger from season 1 of Atlantis. Suicide mission.....nope I guess not....6 weeks before it airs it shows him onboard a ship saying '10 fingers, 10 toes, I'll check the rest later' then shows the enemy ship blowing up. Hmm...I wonder what's going to happen?!
Pretty film that flopped. Final Fantasy:- The Spirits Within. Looked nice but just was so very very boring. You can get something that looks nice (Toy Story) and still have a decent plot (Toy Story) and does well (Toy Story)
You could give examples for those of us who can't think of one...
Indeed. Even your printer phones home nowadays.
It's only fair since Nimda and Code red were calling the printers.

Actually, Less is much better than more. It has a website for starters.
Yeah but can you less | more?

They'll drill the hole pointing towards Canada just in case.
And sharks with friggin lasers on their heads!

Thank you Captain Obvious.
Hey pay attention. You didn't even finish that....hey look a puppy!
I can carry on multiple conversations at the same time without negelecting any conversation.
Then answer my emails. Do you want this Viagra and penis enlargement stuff or not?
Wait a minute. Sending an email from my phone to my PDA is how I get out of meetings. Don't think it's all bad.
Oops I just got an email. gotta run.

That may very well be the most aweful, ugly minivan I've ever seen.
