One thing I don't see anyone mentioning is that sometimes WINE doesn't handle all of the calls correctly. For all we know it could have been the WoW server sending something to the client and not getting the response it needed.... This could create a loop and be hindering the WoW server. It could have been rejecting something that was considered a necessary patch or exploit fix. It's just a theory, but I thought it would be worth pondering.
anyone else remember Wyse terminals? No, because the rest of us realized emulation programs were great and thin clients stupid.
How young are you?;) Not everyone had a PC AND a terminal at their desk. It was one or the other and that was determined by either the era you are talking about (80s vs 90s) or economics (dumb terms much cheaper than $5,000 desktops).
Not to mention you can't even build a decent PVR to compete with a Tivo for $300.
My first MythTV was just that...around $300. I have since upgraded but it wasn't because it couldn't handle it. Case/motherboard combo was about $125, PVR-150 was $70, and I used an old video card. The rest of the $300 was just buying things like a remote control.
You can also use an X-Box for a frontend and spend way less than $300. That is perfect for setting up a remote frontend that can be run on any tv in the house.
If you're on the road in a situation where you can get a ticket, the same rules apply. Otherwise you'd just have a loophole where you could get out of tickets because you "forgot your ID". She ran a stop sign. That is a ticketable offense. I'm not sure there isn't more to this story. You also need ID in a bar as proof of being over 21. If they come in and find someone without ID, it's $10,000 per offense to the bar owner. Do I agree with all of this? Not really. But it's easy to trace back where DUI laws, legal drinking age enforcement, and road safety rules come from. I guarantee you Bush did not sit in his office and decide all of this. I'm just waiting on the left to make me a criminal for owning a gun that I use in competition so I too can be a criminal.
OTOH, **any** policy that infringes on an adult citizen's freedoms or right to privacy is a major concern.
Precisely why I can't make myself vote for the left. Just look up what MADD has done. You're instantly guilty no matter what you do now just because you aren't fat enough to have drank 2 beers. No license for 6 months, go straight to jail, and about $6,000 later you have your chance to prove your innocense and not get a penny of it back. I went through this...I know. Charges were dropped but I never got any of my $6,000 back.
He's not the first to be blind to pre-Bush and pre 9/11 policy though. Somehow nobody on the left knows that the same thing was going on 8 years prior and that that president actually SOLD information to other countries from domestic spying on other foreigners. That isn't news to these guys but overpaying your JC Penny card raising a flag is? Modding this down only shows you're trying to cover up the proof and to me that is worse than a red flag from writing a $6,000 check.
There are 2 sides to every war. I would think it is in humanitys interest to stop someone from taking over the world with a tyrannical rule. You can't just ask them to stop. You have to go to war with those people. I really doubt letting Hitler run the course of his plan without firing a single shot at his army would have been in the best interest.
And how many millions had to die in the process?
How many millions died in the process of Hitler vs the Jews? If nothing had been done it would have been millions more. War vs peace isn't as simple as the left wing college clubs tell you.
But in reality, politicians are too focused on short term electability to care much about such long term plans. Anything much beyond the next elections is ignored.
Since the beginning of his term, Bush has been increasing funds to NASA. Unfortunately it came at a bad time with it following the previous administrations practice of removing funds every year. We also had some deaths and failed missions that brought many things to the public eye and a great degree of scrutiny. Reagan was big on space, Clinton undid everything he did, Bush is big on space and undid what Clinton did to funding, the next administration will probably undo it all again (no matter which party). It's a vicious cycle and hopefully it will finally get beyond an 8 year upslide without a huge dip again after the next election.
Isn't that one of the signs of the apocolypse or something?
No but I do find it interesting it was mentioned to have happened before. The closest thing in the apocolypse is a bright star falling and contaminating 1/3 (or was it 2/3) of the worlds water supply. Keep in mind, the end of days aren't like Hollywood portrays them. After the worst passes there is 1,000 years of peace (which would obviously mean lots and lots of dead people). The world doesn't just explode. It's the end of an age.
As for alternative explanations, I tend to categorize this along with acid rain.
Just call 9/11 a gasoline tax. If you want to stop terrorist acts at home, it's real simple. Stop playing the global bully.
That always annoys me to hear that. You do know what you're suggesting, right? That we should have let Hitler have Europe, let Hussein continue murdering thousands and have Kuwait, let 3rd world countries suffer under tyranny, and let the terrorists keep killing innocents and building up armies. Why would you want that? If it hits home I guarantee you'd be asking yourself why nobody did anything to stop this. Don't forget, most countries are behind us and sending troops right along side in support. It's easy to exercise the free speech of calling it being a bully, but keep in mind that's probably what lets you do just that. The world isn't perfect...some people have to be dealt with.
Calling 9/11 a gasoline tax is just sickening and disrespectful to those who died (and they were from several countries).
I agree. Right now I have almost 190 things in my ticket system. If I were to concentrate on one for 4 hours, I would have about 30 people calling me asking for a solution and wondering why I haven't made any progress. 30 bad, 1 good doesn't look good to management.
I just try to find something that takes a long time to complete, start it, then multitask on as many others as I can at the same time. Prioritization to me means finding a way to kill 10 birds with one stone.
If you add the line to the DB to allow connections from anywhere on your network (or specific IPs), you can install the codecs and click on the 'recorded shows' in mythweb. I do that all the time and it works great. Cole2K has the Mythtv codecs included. I wasn't a big fan of mythstream of the windows front-end.
If you have a working system, all you really need for myth is the PVR-150 (about $70) and it comes with the remote. Install ivtv and it'll autodetect it. One of the hardest parts to figure out is knowing which tuner port to use./dev/video0 tuner 0. Also, when you set up the channel lineup to download from zap2it, make sure you choose the correct frequency from the dropdown. If you get static channels, just clear channels and choose the next one (there are only like 3). Most will work with default. Comcast in Dallas was cable-hrc so it took me a couple tries to find it.

MythTV 0.19 Released

I was just curious if there had been more improvements in the IVTV drivers since I installed it (around last summer I think).
You wouldn't believe how much easier it is now... Use 0.4+ and it'll auto detect the card. No more messing with modprobe.conf.
It has gotten significantly easier with the newer versions of lirc and ivtv. Ivtv used to take forever to configure to work with your tuner card(s). Now, you just install and modprobe it....done. On Fedora you can install the entire app with 'yum install mythtv-suite'. I set mine up from scratch after reinstalling on a bigger HD and it took about 15 mins total. The first time I set up myth it was more like 15 days...
I wish that were true. I was contracted by a legal firm to update all of their systems and run a couple of new network connections. I found over 500 spyware programs on their 10 pc's. This is in a place where a couple of them already ran Ad-Aware or spybot. Unfortunately, they had good intentions but thought you just installed it and it ran in the background like antivirus does. It was outdated and hadn't been run in months.
Yes I know spybot has the taskbar thing, but it really doesn't work that well for average users. It just warns you about changes, but most people don't know what triggered it and don't know if they should click accpt or deny.
What I always do is ensure I have something monitoring logfiles with email alerts enabled and clamAV running. This way I can state that I have the same defense mechanisms in place that all of the other non-Linux servers do. I always use antivirus on Linux. I would hate to be the one with a hive of infected files that infected a network via ftp/http/samba shares.
Dont' knock it. I'm sealing the holes in my jousting armour with silicone as we speak. Oh and as for that solar sail thing....thats covered with the solar superman style cape I'm bolting on the back. Orbital refueling? Easy....eat beans for a week before you get in the space suit. Actually that could help with the maneuverability thing too....hmmm....I'm gonna be RICH!
It is interesting to find the sources of the quotes about WMDs though. The same exact people who are denying it and saying it was only Bush who said it filled the airwaves for a decade with these remarks. They took that part of Bush's speech out of context just like atheists take half a verse from the bible to twist it's meaning and say it doens't make sense. Look up the original speech by Bush. It most certainly mentions tyranny, oppression, murder, etc as reasons to take Hussein out of power. The left has a severe case of selective memory and I'm in awe of how many people have completely forgotten all of this stuff.
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."

wondered what a staunch fundamentalist christian is doing
And I find myself wondering why someone would assume that only a Christian could be disgusted by 2 hairy guys tonguing each other in public.... Only someone on the left would view this so narrowly.... Personally I can't imagine looking at a hairy butt and thinking "love". I would feel the same way no matter what my political or spiritual beliefs. I'm not against gays, I'm just against being asked to look at it in public and accept that it's ok.
p.s.....GROSS!
You haven't noticed the "immature, unable to get along with others" segment of our society (which has a broad age range)?
I've also noticed the difference in how kids act in school these days compared to when I was in there. Most of these kids wouldn't last a day with the environment we were in. The way they run their mouths these days, they would get the crap beat out of them by both teachers and the students back then.
These days you can't lay a hand on anyone without being sued. Just the threat of "the Coach" coming in with the paddle with holes drilled in it (for less air resistance...haha) was enough to keep you in line. I honestly believe that had quite a bit to do with maturing....learning the morals of society do's and don'ts. Cutting in line = getting kicked in the nads....you know....essentials... before you cut in traffic and get rammed by someone with road rage later on that is.
How about a prequel where they have it all taking place inside a calculator and everything is slow motion and LCD black on grey?

Ugh. I just had visions of the IT department getting a raid party together and heading down to payroll.
It's called the gripping hand.
Perhaps they should have done it with kung fu grip!
...its report was picked up by the French free-press group Reporters Without Borders.
One can presume that another is innocent but that person is either innocent or gave up that innocence when they committed the deed.
Sort of like the guy saying he did it to prove something against the West and never mentioned the French involvement? What's up with that?
