Combining several previous researchs, a new FEARLESS, SELF-REGENERATING, ERGONOMIC, SMART MOUSE has escaped into the wild. The results are unpredictable. Expect the unexpectable.
I had one of those first generation Nextel 2 way radio phones and it had horrible battery life. It would last 2 days if you didn't use it but lucky to make it til 5:00 at work if it rang a few times.
My Nokia 6600 is one of those gadget packed phones and I only have to charge it about once every 2 days. Funny thing is the battery is about 1/10 the size of that old Nextel/Motorola phone.
I know you're kidding but am I the only one who feels this way?
The pure irony with me is that when I see ads on tv, if I'm truly offended by the most idiotic/annoying thing I've ever seen, I boycott the company personally. People make more $$ when I don't see advertisements. Old Navy and used car commercials are great examples of showing me something similar to a teletubbies episode or someone screaming at me. Bud Light has some of the best commercials and I do my part to keep them all employed.
Also, I usually end up buying box sets of a season of something if I like it. I never know if I like it if I don't watch it and I have no way of being at home at a specific time on certain days. I would have never watched 'Lost' due to the time and day it airs but liked it enough to buy the first season on dvd.
That's assuming that you knew it was coming up and scheduled a recording in advance.
Mythtv does all of that automatically. You just tell it what you want to record and it has the option to record it any time, any channel and even pick a different airing if it conflicts with another show with a higher priority. I love that thing.
I don't have the exact wording in front of me but it does exist to an extent. The only exception is when ordered to reveal the source by a judge and it takes a hearing to prove it is necessary.
Here is a good link with plenty of info on who has been ordered to reveal sources and why they would like even more protection.
The recent one is just rediculous based on getting people fired without even having enough evidence to indite (yeah I probably misspelled that...I'm not a lawyer).
So, those in America will be looking to the east and those in Asia will be looking to the west.
That depends on where the object is in the sky. Everyone is going to have it appear somewhere in the sky at a relative time and move west since it is close to being lined up with our axis. When it gets dark in Asia they will look to a certain point in the sky and watch it pretty much the same way someone in the US would when it gets dark there.... Of course it will be daylight at one or the other so they won't be looking east at noon;)
What would we think if our city's chief of police decided ignoring our rights was the only way to keep us in line?
You haven't been arrested lately have you? I was for something I didn't even do and I've been in courts for over 2 years getting everything cleared up they did. You have every right ignored while you are in the 'guilty until proven innocent' stage. I couldn't even make a phone call (even to my lawyer) for 11 hours. MADD is still pushing for taking away all rights from anyone so much as being accused of drunk driving. Drinking 2 Coronas with my burrito dinner has me going through more than a rapist or a drug dealer simply because I'm not fat enough or big enough to pass the BAC with 2 beers in me.
b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication; c) freedom of peaceful assembly
Thats about all I see on speech. I wouldn't say it's broader but more vague.
You made me a foe after I practiced my freedom of speech and you have quite an extensive list of them. I hope that isn't a sign of your idea of free speech where it applies unless you don't agree with their point of view;)
It's funny. Laugh at my use of freedom of speech and everybody lighten up:)
Heh, well, if he passed psychiatric testing, then he's NOT a loony, is he.:P
He cheated. He watched 'Armageddon' and knew the answers to the ink blot tests. Woman with large breasts. Woman with medium breasts. This one looks like you...with breasts.
I do. However, marketing isn't very bright when it comes to things like this. For example the season 1 DVD of Battlestar Galactica came out when episode 3 of season 2 had already aired. Several of my friends got tired of waiting months on end for season 1 to come out on DVD and ended up just downloading it. By the time it was released on DVD they had already watched it several times on the downloaded copy and it had lost it's appeal to buy. Besides, there was a whole new season airing. They should have released it much earlier. The U.K. version was released almost a half a year before the U.S. version.
Another show I watch is 'Lost'. My PVR occasionally likes to just not record something I told it to record weekly. I'm out playing in my pool league on Wednesday nights. When I come back and it isn't recorded I either have to hope to catch it on Saturday or wait 3 months for it to air again. All the while I have missed an integral part of the linear story.... Watching it on Saturday isn't always an option since I leave town quite often and my DVR still sucks as much on Saturday as it does on Wednesday.
That fallacy has one glaring hole: who created God? And who created the God who created God? At some point you have to arbitrarily break the chain and declare that something came from nothing.
My point exactly! Non-creationalism means things were there and just existed forever. If matter and life came from this without creation then God didn't need to be created either. Big-bang theorists will come right out and say that matter existed forever and was just always there. They also say that is all it took for life to appear. Yet the possibility of life other than what we know is just sheer lunacy to them. I fail to see a difference in both sides assuming something was just always there and didn't need to be created.
I think you either completely missed my point or are reading into what I typed and making assumptions. Don't be so defensive and presumptuous. I wasn't even offended.
I'll translate for you: I totally agree. The far left always proves a point by stereotyping the "religious right" into thinking they are a bunch of bible thumping granny's. I'm right wing and involved in technology and science very much.
= stereotyping is wrong The far left has "tree-huggers" who want to get rid of industry, dams, power generators, cars, etc.
= continuation of how stereotyping is wrong on either side. It had nothing to do with industry. It was an example. I don't see anyone on the right making accusations like this as to why we are falling behind.
= in this slashdot commentary. All statements were anti-right and blaming Christians rather than looking for the true source of the problem.
You and the one that modded it down seem to be just looking for the bad in everything you see. It was a middle of the road statement saying not to stereotype or wear blinders that only let you see the evil of one side.
Who is pushing the Intelligent Design debate? Atheists?
Who is pushing against even the possibility of God existing? There is no proof that there is not.
Fact: Modern biology does not exist without evolution as a founding principle.
The bible states a day passed for there to be light/darkness. A day is clearly not the rotation of the earth based on that. Not all religious people oppose evolution. If I were to "create" a lifeform, I may take a few steps to get to it. Fact: Evolution has as a premise the concept of an Earth older than 6,000 years.
See above.
No other religious group disputes those two facts more than the religious right.
No other group disputes the possibility of God existing and writes if off based on their own "belief" more than the left.
Okay. Biology will do just swell teaching 'alternative' view of human evolution, right? Biology wouldn't suffer at all. If modern day squirrels came from an amoeba it doesn't change the biology of the squirrel unless you are trying to regress genes back a few thousand years.
Occam's Razor: "when you have two competing theories which make exactly the same predictions, the one that is simpler is the better." Theory 1: God created the entire universe and life. Theory 2: Massive amounts of matter floated around in space in such quantities that the sheer mass caused a big bang. If there was no creation, this matter just "existed" and there was no beginning of time (since there can be nothing that creates it). Aftermath of this cosmic explosion led to life that was self sustaining on bodies that just happened to get all of the material needed to support life. This gathering of cosmic materials evolved into modern day life as we know it.
The problem with Theory 2 is that if all it takes is matter in space for life to spring up, why couldn't God have sprung up just as life forms on earth? There was no beginning of time or creation of the matter so he would have always been there.
He isn't putting the blame on religious people in general. He's putting the blame on the religious right which actually makes up a very small minority of all religious people.
Yet the left has voice support for his opinion quite often in this thread (not to mention modded him all the way up). The division between left and right is so far seeded that it's scary how many false accusations or one-sided "fact" statements come out against the right or left even if it is total hogwash.
I think I know why though. The left has not had anyone in office for almost 3 decades. Clinton was the closest they have had. The minority or losing side always speaks up louder than the majority and can even get downright defensive and angry in any situation (even non-politics). It is sad that it has led to mindless Bush bashing (or whoever else on the right is around at the time) without research of facts though.
The right can see this. I just wish the left could as well and maybe the division wouldn't be so deep.
I really don't feel that religion has anything to do with this.
I totally agree. The far left always proves a point by stereotyping the "religious right" into thinking they are a bunch of bible thumping granny's. I'm right wing and involved in technology and science very much.
The truth is, it has nothing to do with right or left. The far left has "tree-huggers" who want to get rid of industry, dams, power generators, cars, etc. I don't see anyone on the right making accusations like this as to why we are falling behind.

As much as anyone may want to, you can't regulate the internet unless you cut people completely off like China does. It would fall right along the category of passing 2,000 laws against guns when there are about a dozen other laws that already take care of prosecuting those who commit crimes with them. So along those lines, having US control of the internet means it cannot pass laws telling other countries how to use the internet. The U.N. could since it is a governing body with multi-national reach. All illegal activities are covered in other local/state/national laws already (theft, identity theft, harassment, etc).
This is assuming of course that you aren't Al Gore and think you can because you invented it;)

even if it traveled at the speed of light, 200 years would not take it very far through the milky way.
Time is relative when you talk about going the speed of light. It would not seem like long at all for the craft itself.
