And don't forget the huge number of PC games that get released buggy and almost unplayable because they know they can just patch it later. I stopped buying PC games on release day because they would never work on release day. You needed to wait at least for the first patch.

According to www.utube.com they only launched their website on April 21 2006 which would be after youtube started. So I don't think they have a case here. It isn't like they were around years before youtube came into the picture. Their website isn't even a year old.
However they are clear procedure to clean up and remove inaccurate information from your credit report. In fact, if you dispute the information it has to be marked as disputed until the investigation is complete.
Where are the procedures with Spamhaus? Are names "in dispute" put on a seperate list while this investigate if the infromation is accurate?
If you want to treat them like credit reporting agencies then put in the same protections as well.
umm... yes I do. Xenosaga 2, Shadow Hearts:Covenant, Star Ocean:Till the End of time. All of those are two disk games for the current PS2 because of the graphics and the cut-scenes in those RPGs. To try to do the same kind of game with HD graphics will make them even bigger.
I'd prefer to play an RPG on one Blu-Ray instead of multiple DVDs.
They can't just make the Blu-Ray optionion because in addition to being able to play movies it is also there to allow game manufacters to put more game data on a single disk. I have games for the current Xbox and PS2 that span more then one DVD. Now with HD quality graphics, the extra storage space on Blu-Ray is going to be used with the PS3.
Blu-Ray is there for more then just movies.
Spreadsheets and text files work to a point. However, once you get quite a few VLANs and servers then those methods become very cumbersome to use. Trying to do things like seeing what IP blocks are available for a new/27 you want to add may not be that easy. Also, Excel and text files can (and have a several times in my case) to copy-paste type errors. And if you have servers on multiple VLANs then trying to get a listing of "what are all the IPs of server X" becomes cumbersome as well and if you have to keep track of NATs and/or OSPF area informationa as well then that spreadsheet gets very complicated very quickly and information can get spread out (one page for IPs, another for NATs, another for what IP blocks are assigned/not assigned, etc).
For some environments, spreadhseet or text file work fine, but not for all environments.
Not quite.
The monopoly laws say you cannot use a monology in one market to leverage a monopoly in another market. This is things like illegal bundling - a customer knows they have to buy product A and so you force them to buy your new product B as well. In the case of Microsoft, IE and Office are good examples of leveraging one monopoly to create another and force out competition.
Just using money from one monopoly to start a business in a new sector is not illegal.
I don't see how they expect this to replace SNMP. I see more SNMP used on network devices then servers in order to collect traffic stats and error counts and stuff like that.
There is no replacement for SNMP unless the infrastructure companies join.
Maybe this can replace SNMP *FOR SERVERS*, but not overall and even then with the amount of monitoring systems that user SNMP that people also monitor some servers with.... I just don't see it unless you get everybody on board especially Cisco and Nortel.
Blu-ray can read standard DVDs and CDs as well. Weather Sony adds the software/hardware for backward compatibility is a different question, but a blu-ray laser does not prevent them from doing so.
He is never going to release the original version of the original trilogy. Even after he dies, I bet he has a provision in his will that they can never be released.
They could if the issue was wireless security which it isn't. It is that the university already has a wireless network and these access points are interferring with that wireless network. The access points in question are not connected to the university's network so it isn't security that is the issue but interference with the fact there are only 3 usable channels for 802.11 b/g.
They are not even banning all wireless. They are letting people use 802.11a in certain channels since 802.11a has more channels available. That way they won't interfere with the university network.
Not on 802.11b/g since there are only 3 nonoverlapping channels. With 802.11a you have more channels which is why they could set up some channels for private networks. 802.11b/g just doesn't have enough channels.
If they own the apartments (which I belive they do), then they have the right to regulate to an extent what people can do in those apartments through the agreement that was signed when the people moved into those apartments. The only way that agreement could be overridden is if there is an FCC reg that specifically says that they cannot restrict wireless gear and to my knowledge there is not (as an example of where there is such an FCC reg is small satellite dishes - the FCC does say that HOA and I think apartmetns as well cannot prohibit you from putting them up).
Just because 2.5G is unregulated does not mean a lease agreement cannot prohibit you from having that device. I don't like the fact they are doing this, but they are well within their rights to do it.
If I am reading the article correctly, it sounds like they were not forced to remove stuff, but that they would have just gotten a higher rating if they didn't remove it.
If they had a choice to release the game with all the material in and just have gotten a higher rating, then it is not censorship. They decided to remove it to get a 16 rating. At least that is how ie reads to me.
Yeah, anybody bidding on them is taking a big risk if they are even going to load.
After 20 years of sitting there, the chances of all the discs still working is slim, but you never know - a new of them might still be working.
That sounds about right.
It sounds like we wants to make a big anti-war protest so making a huge deal about stepping down from a leadership position he is hoping the press will pick up on it and a great anti-war message will be sent out.
Sorry, but I think Linux is the wrong way to make a anti-war protest like that because the fundamentals of Linux are that it can be used by good and evil. Everybody has equal access.
What the N-Guage needed was real online gaming that was not terribly expensive and where you could play head-to-head with people around the country.
This downloading a best time to play against a "shadow" doesn't cut it.
Head-to-head online mobile gaming is what could have made the N-Guage work, but they dropped the ball.
Open source does that to Microsoft not because Microsoft is better but because they are the dominate platform right now. To compete they have to be compatable. If I tell my company they should switch to openoffice and they cannot share files with their partner company that uses Microsoft Office, it is a non-starter not because Microsoft is better but becaause it is the most widely used and you have to have compatability with it.

The problem of the state overreaching its bounds was a problem the founding fathers realized which is why there are checks and balanced. For example, to watch certain things you need a warrant from the courts, etc.
The problem is that in the interest of security we are eliminating too much of these checks and balances making it easier to get a warrant or eliminating the need for one.
Checks and Balances in the government is a good thing. You have ambitious men in different branches that are going to look after their own self-interest which will mean not giving too much power to other branches because thet lowers their own power. We need to get back to more of this rather then less.
Be careful on this... if the person buying it is technically savvy, fine. If they are not then do not get a combo.
The reason is this - there are very big differences in what and how you burn stuff on DVD+R and DVD-R and when you can add extra sessions and when you have to finalize the DVD before you can read it in a standard player, etc. Somebody that is not technically savvy could easily get confused as to why the DVD they burned yesterday let them to X and this one today does not.
I have a combo drive, but if I was reccomending one to my parents it would be a single format drive.
Only get a combo for people who can and will take the time to learn the differences in the two formats so they know which is best to use for which project.
