I've interviewed with a couple of these startups. Some of them are ICOs that made a ton of money ripping people off and now are vaguely trying to appear legitimate. Some of them are trying to be trading platforms for bit coin (or whatever). I'll be honest: I haven't seen any that felt remotely worth working for (worth being defined as: not a scam and will probably someday turn the equity into cash).

The real problem is that no realistic use for block chain has been found yet, other than a currency. Etherium is fun, but we had an article not long ago explaining how it's not particularly practical.
It's over. It only goes down from here. It never had any intrinsic value, and the folks who were in denial about that have had to face it now.
While it seems reasonable to say the price was too high, this is overly pessimistic. It only goes down from here? Really? I seriously doubt that's a position you want to commit to.
They were trying to build a presence in the video advertising world (because video ads are worth a LOT more than static ads, which is why everyone and their dog is trying to create "original content"). Verizon couldn't buy the Google or Facebook, so they tried to buy up several of the smaller players and combine them to create a competitor. Obviously it didn't really work.
There are communist groups even in democracies. Orderville comes to mind as an especially nice example. OK, so in what way is the Chinese government meritocratic? Did the princelings pass their Confucian exams with flying colors? Did Xi demonstrate his excellent decision making?
Well. no one is disqualified if they get the vote. I think the argument should have centered around his incompetence as a judge rather than his calendar from 30 years ago.
I used to want an office. Then I regretted that I lost my cubicle. Now I just want enough space at the shared-desk that I don't have to smell the person next to me.
The good thing, the silver lining.....a lot more good, high-quality and niche content is being created than ever before. And you don't have to buy all of it.
That pain you were feeling when you wrote that? That's what cognitive dissonance feels like. You'd be better off taking a step back and figuring out a more logical approach, rather than calling people names.
Yes, that's exactly right (although he seems fine at a personal level). There are definitely other judges who are more skillful when it comes to the law.
There are for programmers, even if you don't speak Japanese, but you need to pass an interview, and it's difficult to do so if you don't understand the culture. (Maybe you will get lucky and just mesh naturally with the culture, but I sure didn't).
You can't understand China with a view that only goes back to the Age of Empire, their system is a lot deeper than you think.
Confucianism is younger than the empire system in China.
China is an Authoritarian Confucian Bureaucratic state. Not communist, not capitalist.
Communism and capitalism aren't states, they are economic systems. Democracy, authoritarianism, anarchism, utopianism, and monarchy are all types of governments (not always plausible).
Wow, you've really swallowed the China-supplied Kool-Aid in one gulp haven't you? Or are you ignoring everything else in the news about China?..or are you a China shill? Paid? Foreign national operative perhaps, astroturfing China to the West? Not as crazy as it sounds.
I want to point out that you are incapable of responding to a single factual point in my comment, so you resorted to insults. Good job.
We are currently running a proof-of-concept test of an asset trading and tracking system,
How do you verify that the assets match the blockchain? What happens if an asset is destroyed?

Most software doesn't need any more CPU power. Nothing would be gained by making it work on multiple threads.

Yeah but if it brings the dollar menu back, then people will be arriving in droves.
I like to be able to CONVERSE with my food preparation humans.
When was the last time you conversed with your food preparation human?

Fun way of looking at things.

I really wish you would write better comments.

the question is are there jobs?

Absolute sizes, no more pixels or PTs
This is never going to happen as long as images come in pixels. And images will come in pixels for as long as we have photographs.
Nicely researched and convincingly argued (although reading the article isn't hard research, it is more than many people do).
Point is there is in human nature a need to have an enemy.
We really don't need an enemy.
You tried it in Ruby and Ruby was too slow?
I've left my GPA off my resume for 15 years. The only job that ever asked about it was a position (as programmer) at an academic institution.
When the interviewer started bragging to me that they didn't have to write good code, I decided not to pursue that 'opportunity'.

Not only are commmunism/capitalism economic systems (and not government systems)......
Sorry about that, I don't know where the R came from.

I know better.
Clearly you don't.
