Looking at the pictures, the depressions to the north, the cutouts running north and south.. I would have to agree with the expert he consulted that what they have there are sink holes.
The metals could have even been dumped there, not as in a hoax, years and years ago as the site could have been a "garbage dump". Unless you know the history of the area, may never know for sure.
I could care less about searches.. but because chrome uses the least real estate, it is nice on my netbook... but IT IS HORRIBLE with system resources... I have to restart chrome at least three times a day to clean out the memory. And I only average 5-6 tabs being open. That is really sad for a browser.. that is worse than FF.. and if I could get FF to use less real estate as well, I would just use it and ditch chrome.

Might I suggest looking into the NASA Open Source application, World Wind? You can do anything you can think of.. and people have used it to track several thousand objects in real time and from a database.

When I use to have a gamefly account, I would loose 3 out of every 5 disks in transit (had something like 30 games not show up over the 5 years I had an account). I would get ripped open envelopes that were taped shut.. I had cut open ones show up. I had one envelope show up so badly mangled they put it inside another envelope. ALL of them had the disks missing.. sometimes I would get the empty game holding envelope.

There are TB's of public domain imagery out there. A lot of the hosting is donated space and bandwith, Sun/Oracle is hosting 90% of the imagery you can see in World Wind. Through an agreement with Microsoft you can view Bing maps in WW.net and WWJava.
Virtual Ocean is WWJava FYI. But they are all good options. WWJava and WW.net are probably the most common open source Virtual Globes out there you will find. Though the.net development has slowed down to a crawl.. Java development is quite active, but that has a strong governmental focus, so a lot of the cool stuff that has been done.. can't be shared.
There is a lot of imagery out there that can be viewed and you can do a lot more outside of GE than you can inside of GE. And With Ww.net and Java, you can also view virtual earth imagery thanks to Microsoft being more open than Google.

But I always use pen and paper for notes, you can write down everything easier and you has less to carry with a computer and power cords and hoping you are near an outlet.
Then I copy my notes (or scan diagrams) onto the computer.. easier to find and read and organize. I find using something like Mind Map or Free mind also help to get all the notes in a better flow.
Define coverage though... I have AT&T and a friend has Verizon.. I get a lot more coverage in areas than he does, but he gets more 3G coverage.. but since I use my phone for... *gasp* calls.. 3G is a moot point.
It all depends on what you want to do... I still keep AT&T mainly because of the rollover minutes. I have some months where I may only use half my minutes.. then there are months I use well over my minutes.
comparing costs... they are all pretty much the same... over priced.
On my 3G phone (I'm on AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint, shared via my lovely Cradlepoint router on-the-go even), I can watch TV on-demand. I can listen to music, on-demand. I can read my websites, send my emails, talk via Google voice/Gizmo5 VoIP, send SMS via Google Voice, etc. But there's a limited run of bandwidth.
So... how much money are you spending then with all those carriers and all those services?
I don't have a TV at home, so the TV spectrum is useless. I don't listen to radio in the car, so radio spectrum is useless.
So by your logic... since you are not a first responder (Fire, EMS, etc..), those frequencies are also useless.. ok, just don't bitch when your house is on fire and no one can communicate and coordinate.

My number is a Michigan one, since I was living there at the time. I have since moved to Pennsylvania but left the number the same since people know the number I have. Since I pay my bills online I never looked that closely at the bill. This last month I did.. and found out I am paying TWO sales taxes, Michigan and Pennsylvania. And when I called about it, it is because the number is a Michigan number.. because it is they can charge a sales tax on it.. as well as tax me because I reside in Pennsylvania.
Their solution.. change my number (not a very good solution). I don't see why one should be taxed for where a number resides.
I can't see there being such a high density of Kindle's out there where they can replace 20,000/60,000/100,000+ readers. And you get into some areas, you may probably be hard pressed to find ANY kindles. You also have to look at it more than just one way.. many people *shock* do NOT have internet access (especially older people), maybe I don't care as much about global and national news, I see that on the TV.. but I DO want to know what happened locally, (We have two firefighters that were arrested for Arson.. I have only found 1 paragraph on Google News about it.. so there is a huge fail for the internet being a news source), coupons.. I clip out and save hundreds of dollars.. I can't find those same coupons online, advertisement inserts.. I like to know what is on sale at the local grocery store BEFORE I get to the grocery store.
I am sorry, but the mindset of the/. reader only really works for a very small number of people. Death of newspapers? Only when everyone just plain stops reading, period.
I guess the readers do not realize just how many newspapers that have an online edition, charge for accessing said edition. It does not make financial sense to have a print news paper that you have to buy, and an online edition of the same thing for free. You would quickly loose subscribers thus losing money, leading to the newspaper going out of business... because you want your news for free.
I happen to work at a small(ish) rural newspaper that has an online edition. You can get the edition free if you pay by the year or have a 3 month auto-pay account. Otherwise you have to pay to either also get the online edition, or just get the online edition. It has been fine that way for seven years.
I will tell that to the 200+ people rescued last year because they spent the money on the new beacons. They are not just for planes.. boats can have them and hikers can also get them for use if they get lost.
Yes, the old system still works.. but I would rather spend the extra and know that my signal will be picked up and responded too in minutes instead of hours. Actually.. it will be illegal to use the old system according to the SARSAT website (http://www.sarsat.noaa.gov/).

Thank You! I looked at Buzz... it looks like twitter... I never use twitter. For what I do, facebook works fine and buzz is not needed.

I still have to start up Opera or FireFox because I have too many sites I visit that just do not work in chrome.
But yet, for a netbook, Chrome is the best choice because it uses the smallest amount of real estate for non-browser window information.

Have you thought about looking at Virtual Earth? They update fairly often with imagery and has some areas covered that Google does not have covered.
