I know that Chuck Norris could kick my butt with one hand tied behind his back. And probably yours too. And probably both of us at the same time. But I do admit that nobody could beat Bruce Lee.
My only complaint with this article is that the author does not realize that $500 or so will buy you a VERY powerful laser that is easily capable of damaging the eyes in a heartbeat. But otherwise, a good read.
I am getting very discouraged at the sheer amount of paranoia in our society. Everybody is overreacting to everything and is afraid of their own shadow. My wife is afraid for me to even pull out my Leatherman in public, because she is afraid that other people might thing that I might be a terrorist or some other type of bad guy. Riiiight. Like I could really kill 100 people in a mall with only a 2-1/2 inch blade and a pair of pliers. Except for special circumstances (like on an airplane), you cannot kill 100 people with a pocket knife unless your name is Bruce Lee or Chuck Norris, in which case you don't even need the knife.
Remember: if you walk around in fear, then the terrorists have already won. Think long and hard about where the term "terrorist" came from. I refuse to give them the satisfaction of being afraid.
HDL Chip Design Douglas J. Smith ISBN 0-9651934-3-8 Amazon Link.
It is not a complete reference text to VHDL, and it is indeed a bit dated, but is covers stuff not found in many other books.
It covers both Verilog and VHDL, and goes into such high-level things as the best way to code state machine, the various trade-offs associated with different state machine designs, how generics can save you time, writing test benches, etc.
It is NOT a complete language reference. For that, get the Ashenden book. But this book and the Ashenden book compliment each other nicely. The Amazon reviews give it a very mixed bag of opinions. Some love it, others hate it.
BTW: If anybody has found the perfect VHDL book, I would love to know what it is. The Ashenden book is the standard, but it reads like an encyclopedia.
Good thing I moved me and my family up to this log cabin with absolutely no electricity/electronics of any kind. At least we'll be safe here.
Soooo, you are posting on/. with your genuine wooden computer powered by a beaver dam. Nice. Just imagine how much faster your internet connection would be if you could only automate the smoke signal generation unit.
In a typical RPG, there is a main plot line that usually involves the killing/destruction/obtaining of a certian person/object/place. Once you do it, the game is over.
If this were the case in a MMORPG, the first person kills the mega-bad dude, and everybody else goes "Awwwww. I wanted to kill him." Then they go home. Since this cannot be the case if a MMORPG wants to make money, this does not happen.
So, the "flavor" or "feel" of the two types of games are completely different.
You are forgetting the thrill of having people triumph over seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Admiral Perry did not throw a camera up to the North Pole. Sir Edmund Hillary did not launch a probe to the top of Mount Everest. Mike Tyson did not resort to using scissors to cut off an ear.
Next, I suppose that you will want to program some 'bots to defeat HL2 and Doom3, and not even bother to do it yourself.
Robots definately have their place, no doubt. They should be used a LOT MORE for advanced exploration. But, at some point, humans need to go there if for no other reason that because we can.
In Fox's opinion, they are fair and balanced. In your opinion, they are not.
In my opinion, you are a troll. In your opinion, you are not.
This is a problem. Certain things are facts (George Washington was the 1st president of the US), while other things are opinions (George Washington was a great leader). People need to be able to determine the difference between fact and opinion.
But I must admit that I give Wikipedia credit for at least having as one if its stated goals differentiating fact and opinion (unlike the first post here), and trying to give multiple viewpoints equal footing. They seem to acknowledge the nature of the debate and present both sides. It would be terrible if somethat that is trying to become a general reference source were to be despised by either liberal or conservative, athiest or any variety of theist.
Add to that the kiddy image that Nintendo does little to combat and it's no surprise that the GC is third of three in America.
Disclaimer: I am a PC guy. I do not even own a current console game. I have not even looked very hard at the titles out there.
With that being said, let me throw in my $0.02.
Why is the kiddy image that bad? I really don't get it! If a game does not have blood, guts, and boobs, then it is automatically a bad game? If I wanted that stuff, I would just rent the appropriate type of move to match my mood. But when I pick up a joystick (or mouse), I want FUN. Lack of boobs does not automatically equal lack of fun. But a lot of titties in Daikatana, and let me know how much better you like it. I remember many, many hours spend capturing mushroom and jumping turtles. Not a booby in site, and no blood either. But I had fun doing it.
In fact, I should point out Nintendo's obvious genius. I have small children in the house, and if I wanted to buy a system, guess what I would get? There are mature titles out there for Nintendo, but if I buy a Nintendo, I can at least be sure of being able to get some titles that I would not mind having my children play. I would not buy an X-box for my house, because I would not be certain of even being to find any appreciable number of titles for my children to play.
So, if you look at is in terms of market, Nintendo is doing great. They have a virtual lock on the "kiddie" market, plus being able to capture a few adult sales too. Being cheaper also helps when Christmas comes, and parents are looking at their limited budgets and trying to decide what to buy.
In this case, the court is your friend. Small claims court. All he needs is a print-out of the banned screen, and a receipt for purchase of the game. Having a box with legitimate CD in hand is not a bad idea either.
You can still get the whirlybirds. I saw them in a KB store in the mall a few months ago. It is not made by the same company, and has a different name. I am sure that the stickers and logos do not quite match. But it still had exactly the same two-lever control, and the concept is exactly the same.
I had the Evel Knievel cycle. Mine even shot sparks out of the tailpipe. Those were the days.
Most churches profess forgiveness, so it's a lame excuse anyway. They shouldn't need to hide this to be good Christians in the future, and hiding it won't undo her actions anyway.
What you say is true. The churches that truly try to follow Jesus should be the first ones to forgive. Everybody screws up. The pastor at a former church of mine had a hobby of breaking and entering when he was a teenager.
Not only that, but nudity isn't a sin in most Christian religions anyway.
This depends upon the context. In many countries, going around topless is common. It is not just the being nude, but it is the INTENT behind it that matters. A woman being nude in a gynecologists office is perfectly acceptable. A woman being topless in a society where all women are topless is also acceptable. Being nude on a brass pole in a bar is another matter, where the intent is to get men to look at you.
I suspect that this girl wants all of this to go away for fear of embarassment. Even though a church should forgive, often people IN the church have long memories and like to talk, even though gossip is wrong.
Another thing to keep in mind is that people who are not followers of Christ are expected to do wrong things. People who follow Christ are expected to know better. So if she was already a regular attendee of a church, there are two possible conclusions:
1) She made a serious error. Chalk one up for very bad judgement. This reflects badly on her maturity and ability to make rational decisions.
2) She is just "going through the motions" at chruch, and at some level is not committed.
Either conclusion is somewhat embarrasing for her, hence the reason to sweep this under the rug. Nobody really knows which of the two above options are correct. So, it is the job of the church to forgive her completely, but to keep a close eye on her for now.
Now, for my question: bringing this lawsuit up is a certain way to advertise to the world what happened! The better course of action would be to say and do nothing. Then, a game that sells tens of copies would not be very likely to cause her problems in the future.
And for an additional $30, you can turn the old drives into a portable USB drive. Each month, grab one and copy all of your important stuff to it. Then, tote it over to a friend's house for safekeeping. Then, even if your house burns down, you still have all of your old data, not more than a month out of date, for only an additional $30.
For best results, use two separate USB drives, and do not have both in your house at the same time. It would suck if a trojan or virus wiped your HD, and your backup USB HD that happened to be backing up at the time you got hit.
OK. He does have a point. A real teacher > a computer teacher. But Ferary > Yugo. But if you are on a Yugo budget, you drive what you can afford.
Same deal here. A live person is best. But for the cost of two lessons, you can get software. Software is better if your schedule is hectic, as you can just work it in.
But, I must admit it: I got piano tutor software, and I do not use it as much as I thought I would. If I was paying some 80-year-old lady $20 and hour, I would practice more. So paying for a real live person also helps with dicipline.
Another approach is to use both. Perhaps you can use software, and once a month show your stuff to a live teacher, who can evaluate your technique and give you pointers.
The reason that the characters are "spot on" is because that is how you first saw them.
When the movie comes out, people seeing it for the firt time may become fans and eventually get around to seeing the BBC version, and complain that the BBC screwed up the characters.
With that being said, I thought that the BBC did a pretty good job, too.

This is why BASIC is better than C. Basic can do it in 2 lines. C takes 4. Basic is twice as good ;)
It is much more likely that NASA is now in posession of a photograph of a green guy in dingy clothes holding his hand out for a quarter.
