We actually had to do this last year... I had a good friend who died unexpectedly at the age of 33. He was divorced and lived alone. Right after he died we went to his apartment and did a 'porn sweep'. This guy had the biggest collection of porn I have ever seen! He wasn't a very computer 'literate' person so his PC required no password and he stored all of his smut in a folder on the desktop.
His mother and ex-wife came over later that week to start cleaning out his place... all they found was clean computer, and ONE playboy :) They brought his kids, so it wouldn't have been good to have the 9 year old see daddy's copy of JUGS on the coffee table right next to a roll of paper towels and a tube of KY...
All of my friends now have a 'porn' agreement. As soon as we die one of us will either remove the HDD from the decesaed persons computer, or wipe the porn if they have access.

  4. Re:This type of admin is the bane of users on Security Fears Prod Firms to Limit Staff Web Use · · Score: 2, Informative

As a Network Admin I have no problem with our trustworthy users getting access to tools they need. We lock down our network and desktops, and then unblock as needed. Our in-house developers all have local admin rights, and we allow them ability to download tools from the web. HOWEVER, *most* of these guys are smart enough to use Firefox, not download 'weather bug', 'Smiley Central' etc... Now, the vast majority of our users have no such access, because there is no NEED (we allow casual web surfing, but we had to install 100K worth of filtering equipment because our users kept infecting themselves with spyware). Network admins and IT in general need to be flexible enough to allow users to get their jobs done, but still keep the network protected from outside and INSIDE threats... it's tough to balance the two. -PP

The fact is... you CAN get local weather and traffic over Satellite radio. XM ( I don't know about Sirius) has local traffic and weather for quite a few markets. I stopped getting newspapers when I could get local news via the internet. I stopped watching local TV when cable and Tivo gave me more options. I stopped listening to FM/AM when Satellite radio gave me 200+ channels.

I wish I could mod your post +1 (Sad but True). Our CFO sends out company wide emails that make no sense at all. I often wonder how she was able to (lie/cheat/steal) her way into that position. It is embarrassing when the CFO of a 1+Billion dollar a year company cannot tell the difference between patience/patients or capitol/capital. Now, I'm not perfect... but I also don't send out company wide email very often. When I do have to send out email to others in the company I do this old fashioned thing called "Proof-reading". *sigh* (sad but true)
