Maybe, If Cisco incorporates any of their features into firmware patches/updates or into future Linksys-labeled products. Unfortuneately, I can visualize my wife calling me at work trying to get me to tell her how to mod our router's config file to block our children from running P2P apps - Oh, the horror, the horror.
For the past week, or so, the Weather Channel's website has not been providing "looped" satellite animations of regional weather in the US. Have they given up some of their bandwidth in advance???
Yep, I grew up playing pinball, skee-ball, etc... in old-fashioned arcades and bowling alleys. Did anyone else ever draw a correllation between the makers (Bally, Midway, etc...) of these games and makers of the video games that followed (Same ones, etc...). Aren't these names (Bally, Midway, etc...) tied-in to the casino industry? Does anyone know if video game companies received venture capital (or other funding, investment) from the gambling industry (aka - The Mafia). It seems it would be more profitable and draw less attention from the law to make money from video games (which only provide the illusion of winning something tangible) than operating brick-and-mortar gambling establishments. One may think this is an offtopic rant, but does a plan exist to have the youth of the world addicted (and I use the term very loosely) to gaming/gambling from an early age? Haven't we already seen evidence of this through video_game_themed Slot/Video_Poker machines in casinos for some time now?
OK, OK, Yngwie epitomizes everything that went wrong with the rock-star lifestyle, ego & excess and yeah I don't much care for his limited range either. But, Black_Star on Opus_Rising (I believe that's right) was (in 1985-ish) a fairly kick-ass tune especially with the bass line (albeit ridiculously repetetive and sounded almost like a looped_sample on the album). I gotz me a whole_lotta_love in the backseat of my '78 Z-28 listening to that song. No regrets.
Thanks for the heads-up on that. Now if I could only convince my wife to at least **try** an alternate OS. She's using Win2K Pro, also (It works for her needs). I use it sometimes as well.
Good points all around. My frustration stems from the late 1980's when the hard rock/hair bands were shaking their last death_rattle and members of failed mega-bands grouped together for instant_success-type albums; my least favorite of which is the band Steeler which included on my fav guitarists, Yngwie Malmsteen. One good song on the album, the rest was utter crap and a waste of studio time and my money. I haven't invested much in albums since getting burned by these has-beens/still-wannabe's.
Isn't that about how many songs are on an album anway at about the same price? hmmm... However, if you are willing to pay the price you willactually wind up with the songs you want from various artists without the "bloated" and horrible "filler" songs usually found on a full release from a single artist/group. I think they could do it for less $$$ though. Different biz model with same pricing model = NO (for me).
OK,
Windows Update = SUSPISCIOUS
However, you can still download their Service Packs as stand-alone installations from microsoft.com. From their main page, go to your corresponding "product family" and proceed to its "downloads" section and choose your needed service pack/s. I have not done this in a while, therefore my understanding of it may not be correct.

Reminds of the system a co-worker and I tried to design about 7 years ago. The way it worked was that a bar-code scanning device (handheld or fixed-base, wired/wi-fi to broadband LAN in home)would scan UPC labels as family members used up their consumables. It would develop an ongoing editable shopping list/database and communicate (probably for a low fee, or no charge if retailers would agree)to the grocer's database and update the total cost of shopping including current sales/coupons/rebates for that day/week. The ultimate goal was to encourage competition between the retailers through the use of all their product datbases or through a centralized database through us or a 3rd party. Unfortuneately, it never materialized (yet, to my knowledge).
No matter how rich or poor these Mega-Celebrities become, there is one thing you can't take away from them and that's millions of idolizing fans ready to hop_in_the_sack with them on sight. Pay me in poontang, I'll sing for my supper!
I haven't been eating any 'Apples' lately. Would that be called a "Malnutrino?" But seriously folks, the RIAA has teamed up with a famous actor to release the byte-sized 'Alpacino' processor. "Say hello to my little friend!"
Also, there is no "The Matrix" logo or "Harry Potter" logo. "Potter" will have as many, or more, sequels as Star Wars. Also, the next couple of years will be made up of blockbuster sequels, I predict, with the likes of The Matrix, Potter, LOTR, Star Wars, X-Men, Tomb Raider, Indiana Jones (a fourth installment), Terminator 3, etc... Did I forget any?
No Joke. Many, many, many years ago when "sockets" and TCP/IP were first being explained to me (rather poorly), I asked myself, "How does data pass through the electrical outlets in my home?" Now I know...
I would pay for something like "SimHack: Iraq". Hell, I would even play it. Or, maybe it would be called "EverHack" with "Third World Dictatorship" expansion packs. No need for a military draft after the release of this addictive MMPORG, we won't see the players for a full year anyway! But, I really wish they would name it "Big Trouble in Little Baghdad."
When I was approx. 2 yrs old, I remember my father lifting me up off the floor to sit in the recliner with him and watch early morning reruns of 20,000 Leauges Under the Sea on our black and white TV. Initially, I believed I was floating through the air and only realized later what happened as I grew older. Iwas still in diapers. Aside from that, I remember learning how to make paper airplanes in pre-school when I was 3 yrs old.

It will look about the same. TV's still have screens - so will PCs. If anything, it may be in more of a 3D environment.

IIRC, it is called GOVNET.
well, here are some small ones to get started with. I don't how well they will work with this setup, though.
I, too, know an IT guy(me) who works for a non-technically oriented and spends half his day reading /. :)

And by the way, Jedis crave acceptance :)

I sure did. And, I forgot about any future 007/James Bond releases. Shame on me...

Lynx is faster... :)
Why don't we just send them some of our
abundant fiber optic cable buried across the USA?
