I wish I had mod points, yo. Even w/o the vorbis support this is quite Schweet. I wish I had read your post before I posted my wish list as this actually does what I'm looking for (minus the ogg). I'm also very impressed that they have an intrest in ogg... the price is good too!!! This looks great, are you happy with yours?
When I decided to start getting rid of my CD's, w/ losseless being ideal but a non-option for me I encoded all my cd's to high quality ogg. Ogg, for me, seemed like the most resonable solution for archiving my music, as the quality is better and the compressn rate is better. Hopefully, If I get really lazy and don't keep my files in a current format, I'll be able to come up with some reasonable solution to decoding and transferring my music 30 years from now if need be more easily as well (hopefully!!). To enjoy all these plus'es at home, I don't mind piping oggenc to lame to mkiso to cdrecord for music on the go, but I'd much rather not.
wow slashdot, threw the 'hang effortlessly from the ceiling' thing in just to setup the posters for the obvious gecko tape comments? Guess they had a bucket of '-1 redundant' points layin' around.
they should whip up a iptables rule-set...everybody knows that!!

It's no secret, the internet contains useless crap. mostly!! A lot of this useless crap supports what's good. Slashdot, for instance, is a great site, but bandwidth ain't free-- lo-and-behold banners, pop-ups, link-farms, etc. Persoanlly, I think that it's fine when folk have useless content online, it disturbs me when the crap overflows into the useful info (ie commercial crap).
As of today on pricewatch one could purchase a complete duron 1.3 ghz system (no os) for $211. This is a very sweet price-point @ 6.16MHz/dollar. I'm sure they could do even better purchasing in bulk (probably opting for a non-End Of Life chip).
that's not strictly true; it depends on how you got those other windows. Each time you double click the IE icon, or use the "RUN" dialog a new instance is evoked. Different instances don't affect one another. If you Ctrl+N all windows crash together. This is always true, not just here (the moral of the story, is start a new browser instance for important work).
Have I really put off the upgrades for that long? There are FSB's faster than my processor? The funny thing is there is so much latency loading a lot of the modern software you really don't appreciate it! Outlook XP takes just as long to load as OE did back in 97. The xfer speeds have definitely improved (a _lot_) but rendering websites takes as long if not longer than it did 10 years ago (unless yer a fellow dillo user!). I should quit complaining; I'm as thrilled about bus speeds improving as the next guy (I do a good amount of hw irq intensive stuff) but jeez, It would be nice if avg. joe could see the improvements too and not just those of us compiling kernels on the weekend. So much of the hype causes aunt Ethel to upgrade every year with no appreciable speed improvements. But then I guess auth Ethel's never heard of a front side bus...
Imagine a Beowulf cluster of-- you know what? nevermind. The goggles look like they would might have potential if there was a convient method for input. I agree with earlier posters, devices like these would/will be more useful if they are easily interfaced to (ie not necessarily open sourced/free, but precompiled drivers aren't enough). Overall I feel that this is certainly a step in the right direction. Todays computer _feels_ like a computer, hopefully our children will have the benefits that current computers provide integrated more seamlessly into their day to day doings. Perhaps someday in the distant future we'll have email on portable telephones....ummm wait a minute. Anyways, what I'm getting at is the big humming box in the corner of the room is slowly evolving. baby steps are ok
And there's the beauty of open source. We could ask SCO, "fine, you've got the source, show us the alleged Unix IP-infringing code."
SCO very carefully worded the allegations, and earlier said something to the effect of 'IBM has shared copyrighted techniques even if no actual line off code was duplicated...'
wow other/. ers comment on the pc-ness and grammatical correctness of the author's use of 'she' instead of 'he' and I'm the only one thinking 'great women drivers part II aerial assault'
But then, I guess precious karma doth hang in the balance.
Anybody know of any neat new features?

Personally I'd like:
1) ultra small (like dlink dmp100)
2) uses 128MB flash cards (can encode 1 cd/ card --I'd settle for 64MB w/ no gripes).
3) over 8hrs of battery life (I listen @ work!!).

First that grill, and now this. How'd he get a dam named after him and his sons anyhow?
nmap -sT -P0 -p21,22,23,25,79,80,110 10.0.0.17
hmm, I think I'll have you're whole network scanned before you finished 1 box.

this works in the homepage field of your beloved browser:
about:<input type>
oddly enough if the '=' is included here an input box gets rendered (I haven't seen any other tag that is rendered for the homepage field. Hmm.....

And I thought this 120G would last me a while.
