    Texas may not be able to secede, but they can divide into five states. That would mean 8 new Senators, most likely Republican. Go for it, Texas!

    Whether you supported the Bush administration or not (I voted for him twice - lesser of two evils each time), you have to admit that Congress spent like drunken sailors during his two terms. Yes, spending bills originate in the House and have to pass the Senate, too, but Bush didn't veto anything in his first term and very damned little in his second.

    Agreed. Prior administrations are to blame, too. This has been coming for some time. Let's hope that the American people wake up soon enough to stop it.

    Before each operation I actually tried to talk my doctor into letting me stay awake during the surgery and watch it on a monitor. He said, "No."

    It would have been fascinating! When I woke up during the second hip replacement, I felt no pain, but I could hear everything that was going on. I guess I should have kept my mouth shut, but I just had to say something. In a few seconds I was right back asleep. Drat!

    It is true for orthopedic surgeons. They use saws, drills, rasps, hammers, and such. I woke up during my second hip replacement and I could hear power tools!

    These new "bones" in the article look interesting, but I'll take my titanium joints any day. I love setting off metal detectors and seeing the look on the rent-a-cop's face. :)

    And a third category - the actual work truck. I drive a 2004 1/2 ton GMC pickup all day every day. There's no other vehicle that can do the work.

    There are other variables, too. A truck that gets 17 mpg with just the driver may get considerably less when the bed is fully loaded, or when it's towing a trailer.

    Even the way you drive can cause mileage to vary.

    And any vehicle gets worse mileage when not maintained properly.

    No, what I'm saying is that the proposition, "People Emit Visible Light", is a crock. I take words seriously. When they say "visible", I take it to mean "VISIBLE". If they meant to say, "people emit light in the visible part of the spectrum", then they should have said exactly that. Words have meanings.

    Well, I don't know about you, but I'm so bright my mother calls me "sun". :)

    Seriously, I've spent a LOT of time underground exploring caves, and I've never been able to see any light coming from a human. No matter how long you leave off the lights, nor how wide your pupils get, you never become "used to the dark" in a cave. The darkness is absolute - you literally can't see your hand in front of your face. I makes me wonder what the hell these scientists are talking about.

    You're not the only one. I think those are fine for other people (the kind of people I try to avoid). I much prefer to interact with people in person or at least on the phone. Too much meaning is lost in short cryptic text.

    I have plenty of friends, but I don't want to know every little detail of their lives.

    1. Be able to buy your phone from anybody who sells them.
    More stores selling more phones has to lead to lower prices

    2. Then choose your carrier.
    Kill the link between phone brand & model and the company that provides your service. And for God's sake kill those 2-year contract extensions!

    Maybe these Senators are on the right path -
    there's a first time for everything. :)
