My girlfriend will sooner stab me in the leg with a fork, then see a Blockbuster movie on opening night. This way I get to see it twice though. Once on opening night, and once a few weeks later when she agrees to go.
I've had my ticket confirmation print out pinned to my cube since I bought my tickets on 11/27/02.
Now my anxious salivations are almost to an end though...in just 6.5 short hours, I'll be in the theatre when the film roles! (insert evil laugh here).
The Hudson (according to some) is loaded with PCB's from old General Electric dumping in the river. While they continue to fight the legal and environmental battle to decide how that's going to be handled...
The last thing they need is a bunch of yahoo's with treasure maps digging around in the sediment and silt looking for treasure while dredging up 80 years worth of PCB's.
The biggest opponents to cleaning the PCB's out of the river point to the environmental impact of disturbing all of this sediment. Imagine the nightmare when Joe Adventurer goes out and starts digging up the River.
Basically I felt more like discussing the "why" of this article (read: self serving argument) then the "what" of the article, which has very little impact on me.
I think David Brin is capitalizing on the popularity of the LoTR films to get his name in the news.
By going on about the social ramifications of such films in todays world...he's really just trying to get his name in the paper so people will buy his books.
With the way the media has twisted news reporting these days though, who can blame him? Talk shows and the like have taught us that one of the most affective ways to advertise is through the "news".
Other console companies aiming for the adult market (like most xbox and ps2 titles); Nintendo is a breath of fresh air for those people still buying for their kids.
You can count on the nintendo offerings to be kid friendly and family oriented. I'll admit that's not really my cup of tea, but it's definitely the strong part of the market for Nintendo.
Any deviation from that plan would be a mistake in my opinion.
Some wireless networking issues and a connectivity issue for gamers, mainly gamers in persistent world games, like the mmorpg's. DIRECTV was by no means the worst, but they were far removed from the best.
If I wanted to flame someone...or just in general be rude. Why bother trying to build my karma to accomplish that. I can just flame anonymously...like you.

That Da Vinci was a pacificist..and yet was also the first sniper. Using a rifle of his own design, he shot and killed a french commander at over 300 yards. At the time, this was considered an impossible task.
I find it also really interesting that we are willing to exchange a good warranty for quality. Who the hell cares if it sucks, will they replace it if it breaks?
The quality has declined across the board, but high quality parts are still available. As demand from retailers like M$, Wal-Mart, Best Buy and others increases for discounted electronics, the supply likewise increases.
However, as more and more people become "Tech Savvy" there are more manufacturers willing to produce the high quality, awesome electronics that modern geeks will shell out the cash to buy.
So has overall quality declined, maybe...but the good stuff is still there to be had. Just don't go cheap on everything you buy.

It must be a man, it waited this long to ask for directions...and then it had to whisper.
They intend for you to find the person trying to break into your network...and beat them with the 800 page book...
But I'm soooo happy with AOL!

Ok...you can call it a troll if you want. But the point remains the same. Why do you need anything other then google?
...a slow news day. Seriously though, why do you need anything other then google?
Or does this seem like a story about the RIAA acknowledging that people can copy cd's...with a cd-r?
My god the humanity! They'll be able to make their own cd's! Why wasn't this reported before.

For those of us who do tech support and sometimes run into DirecTV broadband issues, can I just say, yippee!

Craenor
When I bought a Canon EOS-1 Camera and it could focus on different areas inside the viewing area, depending on where my eyes were trained.
The question is...how long before this technology makes its way into mainstream computers, or something like it.
Wouldn't it be nice to just look at the monitor, blink twice and have the folder open. Careful where you look though!
The piano? Or the guy who delivers a baby grand piano into the Amazon...
Must be good! Besides, what makes them think a western style shoot em up isn't what we want.
They should patent how to never make money and stay in business. That's their big secret...
based on this for their game site....Escape from Levenworth.
