How is this any different than The View allowing Behar, Goldberg, and O'Donnell to air their outrageous opinions as fact? Don't say it's because the View isn't news, because Hannity and Beck aren't news either. How about the parade of talking heads on ALL the networks who come on calling the tea partiers racist and violent, and their only evidence is a shot of some guy at a rally (legally) packing heat-- who happens to be black, but they cut off his head so you couldn't see that. How about how those same talking heads call for civility, only until the union protesters decided to start making threatening statements, beating people, and destroying property?

Most states have annual safety inspections. Some, like NJ, waive the inspections for the first year or so of new vehicles. Some don't have annual inspections, so yes, I would be concerned about those. Ironically, the states without inspections (like NM) have some of the highest speed limits.

Definitely not. We're talking about a media that conflates violent behavior with other behaviors of the perp. If the perp plays violent video games, video games are responsible for the crime. If the perp used encryption, encryption is responsible for the crime. If the perp used a gun to protect himself from unidentified intruders knocking down his door at 3 AM, guns are responsible.

I guess what we need are laws (state of federal; preferably the former) defining what a "license" is. You see, the license analogy seems to work well until you get a bad disc. If you tried to get the company to replace the disc (outside of a 30-day warranty period that seems to be standard on the packaging) at cost of materials and shipping, I can almost guarantee they'll demand you buy another copy. All we need are a few people to be told that and take it to court. They'll have to decide whether you're buying or licensing. I think that their BS about not guaranteeing the game will work on your system might come to an end, as well, because I could see how licensing a non-working product and refusing to rectify it or void the contract could be seen as fraud.

Obama just talked about in his terrible speech about the poor buying housing. Why are the poor buying houses? You don't buy expensive liabilities when you're poor! If you buy anything expensive, you buy an investment property that will make money. It's stupid to take on risk for something that isn't even capable of improving your position. I don't want the poor homeless, but they shouldn't be homeowners! That's what renting is for.
