yeah, a media center. whatever that means. Sony seems to be losing with the PSX (from what I've heard. Granted, I'm no expert.)

Personally, I think that if any one of them comes with some function that's not market saturated (PVR, maybe?) it would help them a lot. Then again, I'm not sure it would work, financially. Who knows? But I think that the days of the game-only console are about over for everyone but Nintendo. But who knows? Probably not even the big 3 at this point.

    Per your MP3 questions:
    • There may be a misunderstanding: You can indeed rip CD's to your XBox drive, but I'm not sure if they are MP3's or some other type.
    • I BELIEVE (that is, I don't have it) that the XBox music mixer allows you to transfer MP3's from you computer to your XBox. The music mixer, if you don't know, is a karaoke "game" that seemingly updates the Xbox's capabilities WRT music.
and I respectfully disagree with you: no hard drive would be a huge loss for NextBox (or whatever). I hate memory cards, dammit. Besides, I'm more of the opinion that the next round of consoles will see even more non-gaming features, not less.

and besides, I wasn't disagreeing with you at all. Your case (apparently that cross platform games do not play better on the XBox) is currently not under dispute. My point was that I prefer the XBox verstion so I won't have to shell out more money for a new memory card for every sports game (or whatever)I buy.

Still a great game, though. But I disagree that many bugs were fixed in GOTY.

By selling the products design houses already use (Photoshop, Illustrator) as a package, and as a reasonably priced package ($1200 whereas Quark alone is $1000), they're going to put InDesign on the desktop of every graphic designer.

I'm not so sure. I've dealt with the composition departments at a several newspapers, and, for the most part, they haven't upgraded to quark 6.0 yet, because 5.0 works. (They're also booting all nice, shiny, and new Macs directly into OS9, which kills me. 6.0 has native OSX support, dammit!)

While print newspapers isn't the whole of design houses (or even a majority? I don't know) and most houses who are printed by newspapers use PDFs rather than native Quark files, I find it interesting.

OT, but doesn't anyone know of, and have experience with, a GOOD OSS layout program which prints to PDF?

But having enemies on the same level of your character benefits everybody: if you spend 40 hours leveling up, you don't have to deal with 20 HP rats forever, and if you don't like leveling up, then the last boss is only level 10.

Of course, it only works with RPGS or games with "RPG elements", but I personally think it's the best system.
