I doubt it would work after 100 years. Capacitors dry out and no longer work after a few years of storage. There are probably more effects like this that I'm not aware of.
I think this is strange. I work in public procurement in Belgium and under European law all participating companies are notified and have a 15 day period to file a complain before the contract is closed. During that period the decision who receives the contract can still be changed. After this period a company could still file a complain, but can only obtain a financial restitution. I'm surprised this isn't used in US government law.
I don't think it's dumb. How many would rather pay a small amount and have it over with, than go through a whole legal battle? If they were asking a large amount, people would be more likely to put up a fight.
Kurzweil speculates that if computer development keeps following Moores law, we'll have sufficiently fast computers to simulated an entire human brain in a few decades. This is pretty much a brute force methode to get an AI. No need for AI-researchers, just a fast computer, extremely accurated brain scanner and a good programmer with experience in simulation software.
You don't teleport the powerplant or the pylons. You teleport the bombs droppped on them. Just imagine the suprise on the faces of the crew when they find their ticking bomb back on their plane. Now if the teleporter makes a "meep meep" sound, we'll be all set...
"Around two billion people are thought to suffer some kind of brain impairment, he said."
Most of those do not have a real brain impairment. It's just that so many people waste so much time on/. they're as productive as the average coma-patient.
Finally, some words, like "forward", are interpreted as intentions to move.
I can imagine how this could be very entertaining to see in action. Imagine someone on a stage giving a speech in one of these. "...these figures show clearly, we should move forward AAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaah" CRASH.
My methode is much better. I install windows on it, have internet explorer start automaticly and open Slashdot. By the time they're done, the data is way to old to be of any relevance.
The rest of the drive I fill up with the combine works of David Hasselhof. Cruel, but effective.

Easy, just keep an eye out for the following signs:

As I married man I can attest: this is wrongfully modded "funny". This should have been modded "painfully true".
In my opinion saying they "only" make 66 cent an hour means nothing without a reference. How much can you buy with 66 cent in China?
Pick your own reply:
A) Tell that to an anaerobic organism.
OR
B) philosophical question: Is the global firestorm, caused by a spark igniting the H and O mixture, toxic?
Coming to you as soon as I find a suitable large catapult.

Great, I feel I going to waste a whole lot of time on that site you linked to. Now if I don't find a cure for cancer this weekend it's all your fault.
Either you park your car first, or you ask someone to do it for you.

Let's hope the guy who's good at curing cancer is also good at making backups...
Seriously. It overrides every attached HD. How well does a RAID stand up to that in terms of data protection? Or an attached USB HD?
More likly they'll complain their kid's game broke their computer, buy a new one and continue punching the monkey.
All the fault of the Stonecutters...
