  4. Re:His story is typical. on The Global Warming Heretic · · Score: 1

Any time someone has a dissenting opinion against a conservative the conservative only seems capable of defending their argument with insults and threats. In the past, some scientists who have came out against the war actually received death threats. The sad thing is that the evidence for war is subjective and yet people think they should make death threats to defend it. The same immature responses occur when conservatives are arguing about evolution. They believe they are always right and if you aren't on their side you must be stupid, your PhD backing your credibility is actually worthless, and you must be a member of the sheeple party. Conservatives don't have a higher level of thinking to get past the subjectivity of the evidence they rely on to make their case. That very well may be the reason they attack those who do have the higher level of thinking. That hearkens back to school days where the stupid kids are the bullies. A lot of times those kids also had broken homes but a correlation I believe exists between their intelligence and their personality trait that makes them lash out as their only defense mechanism.

Your post is borderline incoherent but I'll answer anyways. 1) She bought a laptop that came with Vista. 2) It's a Toshiba laptop and the OS isn't preinstalled, it's on a partition on the disk. Both 1 and 2 should have been fairly clear from the posts you're responding to.

  12. Re:Broken premise on Microsoft Feared Mac Vs. Vista In '05 · · Score: 1

The Toshiba laptop she purchased didn't come with it pre-installed. The installer was on a partition of the disk and it took several restarts and over an hour to install. On top of that, I let Vista update the synaptic driver which broke the trackpad in the process. There were various other trials and tribulations that I got to yell about as well. Oh and as for that UAC nonsense, my Mother was in autoclick mode for those popups within hours so I fail to see what those gain at all.

The problem is a perceived lack of options. The Liberal party has been in power the majority of the time since confederation but they've been plagued by scandals and weak leadership in recent years so their poll numbers are flagging. The NDP and Green parties picked up votes from the Liberals and in some cases split ridings which handed them to the Conservatives (another issue with FPTP). I've said it for nearly 3 years now but the Conservatives aren't popular, it's just the Liberals are unpopular and the Cons are seem by many as the only other party worth voting for. We're not a two party system but we're close.
