    i used to work at a corn syrup factory.

    all corn syrup is not fructose - in fact it's converted to fructose.

    corn starch can be converted into many different forms of sugar. dextrose, maltodextrose etc.... heck we can make ethanol with it (yum).

    it's converted into fructose because customers want fructose.

    fructose in mass quanties may indeed not be good for you (fructose occurs naturally in honey, beets (i think) and probably in other places). i wonder if this is true of other sugars (sucrose, dextrose, etc...)

    anyway point is corn syrup != fructose

    Growing up in the rural midwest....

    Cow tipping, as we implimented it, was not myth - it was a prank.

    We would convince a unsuspecting victim that we were going cow tipping - drive to a field far from town and send in unsuspecting victim to dodge the land mines that cows leave to protect themselves and then drive away leaving the victim walk miles back to town in the dark with their cow dung covered shoes.

    I wonder if we could get Jack Malvern to go for a ride so that we could 'disprove' is article? buhuhhahahahahaa

    I love the mini form factor but a 1.2 GHz G4?

    What will it be like in year?

    I used to love the macs for their longevity - seemed like they were usable for years longer than PCs... Just don't see it with this chip. I wonder what they will have when they go to intel processors - would love to see a mini with an AMD64 chip

    that cpu is a bit anemic. i've been fighting to keep from buying one of these things for myself (bought one for my mother and brother). that cpu is a wimp compared to other things on the market

    I wonder if there is an interesting question to be answered here then.

    Are the current citations due to the review process and marketing of the well marketed journals or simple due to the accessibility of these journals.

    If the quality of the cite is high and accessibility is high I suspect there will be a lot of use of the work.

    I've been frustrated time and again with accessibility of the mainstream publishers (i.e. I don't want to pay for a subscription)...

    maybe there is some brilliant way to avoid this but I would think that burning grass would have a lot of particulates in the exhaust? Guessing that in addition to the usual combustion products makes grass less attractive than biodeisel.

    i suppose somebody that wants hi quality/quiet/small form factor/sexy/500 dollar PC who prefers linux would.

    i've been thinking of picking one up totally based on the hardware for the price. i want a small quiet machine that isn't made of cheap looking plastic. i don't really want an intel solution (cappuccinopc) or one that is too pricey (hush).

    if i could be sure that i can basically have my cake (minimac) and eat it to (linux) i'm a happy camper and i'm sure steve jobs won't mind me reformatting that disk

    apt is similar to yum (if you used that) or up2date.

    in /etc/apt/sources.list there is list of software repositories.

    in /etc/apt/sources.list one can choose your version of the OS as well as which packages that you'd like to choose from

    i just said hoary because that's the version of ubuntu that i'm using - first version was warty - hoary was the unstable version.

    if you're running hoary add multiverse to your sources.list

    then you're just an apt-get away from having mplayer

    wow i've had quite a different experience.

    ubuntu has replaced core as my primary os. it's been rock solid without any ofthe issues you mentioned.

    added universe and multiverse to sources and i feel like i'm back on a debian box with all the software choices. synaptic on ubuntu is a real treat.

    installed from warty - upgraded to hoary without incident.

    guess ubuntu didn't like your box very much.

    i found most of ubuntu to be pretty stock gnome 2.8 (blecky yuck yuck) 'cept for the human theme but as usual easy to tweak to one's liking.

    They're seem to be treating file sharing kind of like the wild west.

    It's seems to me though that this kind of action creates a negative reaction. If I downloaded a malicious program from these folks and knew they did it on purpose I'd be 'taken it up a notch' (thanks seinfeld).

    I wonder if that's a legitimate legal defense... I didn't upload the movie to share it or view it - I did it in retaliation of this malware program. Probably not.

    If this program was modified to trash a hard drive would they be partly responsible?

    ummm although it would have been nice to see a new installer ;)
