  1. And? on Lenovo Claims Samsung Galaxy Tab Sold Just 20,000 · · Score: 1

Does anyone other than Samsung and Lenovo really care?

  2. Ah, fascism ... on Android Tricorder Killed By CBS · · Score: 1

Ah, fascism, isn't it great? It is amazing to think how completely the corporate world is allowed to rule our lives. What we can buy, where we can buy and ever what we can do with it once we have bought it.
And of course of government is no where to found as they are too busy making new laws to protect our corporate guardians.

Tell me, I cannot be the only one who feels this way! The time is close I think for change. The economy is in the crapper, our "leaders" are fighting themselves harder and harder, we see our rights taken away more and more each day.
The gas is already on the tinder, we just need the spark to set it off.

  3. Sixth Sense on Do Spoilers Ruin a Good Story? No, Say Researchers · · Score: 1

I bet it sure as heck would have ruined that movie for many who were surprised at the end Bruce Willis was dead.
Sorry for those that have never seen it, I hope that did not spoil it for you.

  4. Re:Immortal Reader As Well on Start-Up Claims Immortality For Data With 'Stone-Like' Disc · · Score: 1

It is even easier than that I think. If you are really concerned about storing a disk and reader simply for posterity, then just invent a really, really good sealed container. Put said items into container. Replace oxygen with nitrogen and you are golden. Replacing corrosive oxygen with an inert gas should stave off the breakdown of the device for 2000 years easily.

  5. Re:Clearly on Ruling Upholds Gene Patent In Cancer Test · · Score: 1

  7. ideological war on Terror Attack On Norwegian Government · · Score: 0

Perhaps I am alone in this thinking, but it seems to me that the west is engaged in an ideological war with Islam. Which, to my mind is only reasonable given the clear incompatibility between Muslim and Western values.
The trouble is, the opposition's idea of an ideological war is distinctly physical. Though, I do not imagine too many ideological wars have been one without the winner resorting to violence.

  8. A revolution is coming. on Gov't Docs Reveal Canada's Net Neutrality Enforcement Failure · · Score: 1

Anyone else feel like we are on the verge of a revolution across the western world? Where the people finally say, enough of of this shit, we are not going to take the corporate overload crap anymore.
Then again, maybe everyone will sit there and take it like always.

  9. Vigilante justice on Lawyer Attempts To Trademark Bitcoin · · Score: 2

Now, normally, I am not a fan of vigilante justice, I should make that clear.
The problem I see however is that it is clear that our system no longer has justice for the common man. Justice can be bought in America, this is clear. Judges routinely tear up the constitution in order to protect corporate interests.

Lets say that a group of guys beat this guy down. I'm talking hardcore. Would the next guy think twice? What about beating 10 of these trolls down? How many beat downs would it take for the message to get out that the people are not going let you fuck them any more?

  10. Re:Something has got to give. on Australian Firm Targets Apple and Google Cloud Music Services · · Score: 1

  11. Leo on Construction of ESA Galaxy Mapping Satellite Completed · · Score: 2

No, only if we could leave low Earth orbit and actually use said map.

  12. Something has got to give. on Australian Firm Targets Apple and Google Cloud Music Services · · Score: 3, Interesting

Seriously, this is getting to be freaking ridiculous. No one is allowed to do anything. No one can have any service because some fuck tard has a patent for some idea which he either was never able to implement or bought from some other fuck tard who was not able to implement it.
This system is completely broken. Something has got to give.

Are you suggesting that because he does not have the same ideas as you regarding what his tax dollars are used for that he should leave the country? I think it is you Sir, with your clear lack of understanding of the US system who should leave.
Attitudes like yours is why the constitution was written the way it was. To protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority.

  14. Seems like a silly thing to do on The Future of Time: UTC and the Leap Second · · Score: 1

I know that we can keep time much more accurate using atomic time.
My questions is, why on earth would we want to? I mean that literally. We live on earth. The earths travel rotation around the sun and the rotation the earth does each day is what is relevant to our lives.
We plant our crops according to the seasons. We wake up because the sun shines. Why should our system of time directly reflect the way we live our lives?

It is shocking how loud an old 747 is on final. The hope has always been for tech like this to come around and silence these old POS planes.

  18. As it happens on Personal Electronics May Indeed Disrupt Avionics · · Score: 1

I actually used to work on the ILS system back in my AF days. As i recall, the system was working in the 900 and 1800 bands, at least in the US. It uses a 90 and 150 Hz tone modulated onto the carrier. Naturally, it is simple modulation.
As it also happens nearly every single GSM mobile phone is quad band, which just happens to also operate in 900 and 1800. So, when you are flying around and have no signal, your phone is searching all bands.
And even though the freq is in a different part of the band, your phone is also making spurious emissions and harmonics, which can in some cases be only 10dB less than the carrier. That is enough to jam and ILS.

It is endless annoying that people cannot get the simplest things right.
