It was my understanding that such services, like the water company, electric and gas MUST have a meter available for their customer to read as well, not because they are super nice guys, but because US law mandates it.
How is metered internet service different?
If they insist on saying, well the utilities do it this way and that way, and when they insist on acting like utility, should they not also be bound by the same rules?

  7. This can only shake out one way! on RIM Confirms Android Apps Will Run On Playbook, Through Intermediate Players · · Score: 1

When you think about it, the tablet situation can only end in one way. There can be only one major platform in the end. Sure, you will have you niche products, but developers dont want to develop for 3 or 4 competing platforms. It costs time and money to do it.
This is what RIM understands. This is why they built in support for Android Apps, and too be honest, it just makes sense.

Looks, we all love apple products right? (I personally hate the company and wont give them a dime, but hey, I do like the product)
BUT, and it's a big but, who stands to make money from Apple products in the long run? Apple. Who else? Ah...Apple?
There is a clear reason why Apple cannot win this battle. They are greedy bastards. They want to tie their SW to only their hardware. It's their right you say. Yes, of course it is! But who here thinks that Apple will beat collectively every other company in the world?? Not a chance.
So..RIM says, there is no F'ing way that we can do it when apple can also not. So...bring on droid.
I say, while driod may not be the final platform, it has a damn slight better chance of anything else right now. Well played RIM. Well played.

A switch to GSM is irrelevant.
All carriers will switch to LTE, which, right there in the name, is the long term evolution for GSM/UMTS.

What does this mean to you?
Simple. Sprint (after they switch to LTE),Virizon and ATT will all be on the same tech.
Of course, you will say that they are on separate bands. So what. Nearly all phones which you buy will support ALL implemented LTE bands. It wont matter a bit where you are with LTE>
Basically, US is getting on board with the rest of the planet. Well..all but Japan who will stay with Nttdocomo version of LTE.
Still ATT does suck for customer service and stealing your money.

I, no doubt like most of you, enjoy reading about advancements in technologies. Especially those which can have a direct impact on computer performance!
Lately though, it seems to me, that all of these headlines and articles are exactly the same article. Making some claim about a major breakthrough and how this will make my computer 100 times faster and use 100 times less power....maybe...in the future.
It seems always to the case that in 10 years, "this" will enable us to use a lot less power and have much higher densities and so on and so on.
Basically, why the techs are interesting, the articles are absolute crap. Sensationalizing everything where there is nothing worth do so about. Why can they not just explain the so-called break though, it's probable applications and realistically how long, if at all, until commercialization?

For CE it is outside of the scope of R@TTE since it is not a radio device and most parts do not fall under the low voltage directive. EN50022 would be required for the power supply though, which is the same testing needed for FCC 15b in that case.
