Countries rise and fall. That's just the way of things. China, at one time was the most power civilization on the planet. They invented all kinds of amazing things and made huge advancements in our knowledge about how the world works.
Still, I do hope that the US can get their shit together. I don't see that happening though. For years now they have made higher education more and more difficult to get for the average person. The political elite are becoming more and more openly corrupt. More and more power is being given to corporations. No, I do not see this going well for the American people.

Of course, for literally everyone else, it is fucking terrible. But, you go on and destroy some countries to boost your economy. Maybe though, in the next war, with some of your cities flattened, you wont think its such a great idea.

  15. I wonder what the US situation with respect to international relationships will look like in 4 years time.
When I first heard that Trump had won, my first thought was, how much damage could he really do?

As I see what he is doing, it seems a lot.
Take for example China. Most of the EU countries have already privately told China that they will follow the status quo regardless of that Trump does or says.
Most of the world is pretty angry about the anti-climate change stuff and there is already talk about locking the US out of the market.
Naturally this would have a huge impact on EU companies as well.
The more I see what this ass hat is doing though, the more I think this is really a turning point for the US and its decline in prominence from the world stage. I guess that is natural. Countries come and go, rise a fall. I do not imagine that will stop just because it is the present.
It is not just about climate change either. Heck, he is even gutting the FCC and forbidding them to protect consumers. Remember how the FCC made those carriers stop the millions in over billing? Those days are over.
The carriers, under Trump will literally be able to do what ever they want.
I have customers who cant wait for Trump because they think they can stop testing their devices for the US market and just sell it.
Still, I really do wish those of you in the US the best of luck. There is a good chance though that you fuckballs screwed us all. At least we dont have to worry about your F35 shooting down our planes though ;)

  17. 3rd party labs on Samsung Plans All-Screen Design in New Galaxy S8 Phones (bloomberg.com) · · Score: 2

I think that the phone was tested, and likely the issue was known.
The problem is that, in an order to save costs and decrease the chance or product leaks, Samsung has moved away from using 3rd party labs and started setting up their own internal labs.
An internal battery lab was used to test the note. The testing for batteries is standardized. And while the ISO 17025 accreditation requires a sort of separation of the lab and the production side, it is clear that the lab would be under intense pressure to both speed up the certification and down play any issues which may block the ship date.
3rd party labs will of course feel the pressure from customers like Samsung, most European and American labs would never close their eyes and issue a passing test report. In Asia though, it is a different story. One reason why the FCC no longer allows test reports from Asian lab. Often times the reports are available as soon as the PO is sent ;)
For you guys in the USA, nearly every one with a cell phone is using one which is PTCRB certified. PTCRB mandates the use of 3rd party accredited labs. PTCRB however is concerned with the health of the network, not whether or not the battery will explode. Though, they do test conducted RF (100's of hours) from -10c to +55c, but the battery is actually removed in those tests.
Perhaps they should think about requiring 3rd party battery testing also. As Li batteries get larger and larger, the potential for this type if thing increases.

Globalization is a terrible thing. In the long run, it is good for company owners who are willing to move around to find the lowest wages available to get even richer, but it will destroy entire countries.
Free trade is an evil concept designed to make the rich richer.
    Consider this.
Take Germany as an example. Germany has an excellent social system. Assuming you have paid into the system, you will be taken care of. You will never be homeless or go without the basics. Sure, it may not be perfect, but at least you stay alive in your old age and can visit the doctor when needed.
Naturally this results in a high tax rate middle and upper class workers and a higher cost of living, though things like food are not allowed to rise too high.

How is it fair or reasonable to allow Indian goods and services free market access when Indians have no social system in place at all? It would be impossible to compete against them for price. Meaning that the businesses and workers supporting the system go under and the system becomes insolvent. For countries to allow and encourage this is insane. It is cutting off the hand that feeds them.
There will always be some group of people who can be taken advantage of in order to bring down the price of goods. People need to think about the real costs though.
Personally, I do my best to shop locally when possible.
