Well, first of all, get yourself a better lawyer...especially for first offense, you should likely get out of it with maybe probation.

But if it came down to that...I'd take the 6 months.

Does anyone really drink alcohol for the taste? Take the effect away and most drinks are a lot like drinking piss with a mediciney aftertaste.

Actually...yes many of us like the taste.

When I was a little kid and I had my first taste of beer, I LOVED it.

I love the taste of fine wines...great with meals. I love a good, single malt scotch, with maybe a splash of water or a couple ice cubes (ok purists, bite me, I like it chilled a bit).

I like mixed drinks...I like the bitter tastes of a gin and tonic with fresh lime on a hot summer afternoon, I like a real daquiri (not that fucking over fruited strawberry frozen shit)....I like a good mojito.

Yes, many of us do enjoy alcohol's flavor in its various forms and mixed with things. The fact that it makes you feel great is definitely a plus.

Make another vaccine (or possibly something in pill form), that increases that second enzyme, and makes hangovers less and less painful!!

I never knew what a hangover was till I was in my mid-30's...then BAM....

Now, sure I can still drink quite a bit....not even getting very drunk at times, but man, I pay for it for 2+ days now at times.

    :(

If this is what happened to me....I'd pay a TON of money to be able to regenerate that 2nd enzyme production to lower the acetaldehyde (sp?) and lower the hangover pain.

Drinking is fun for those that can handle their booze....if you could get rid of the hangover, it would be great for those that still like to party a bit.

I'm not terribly picky either way, but if you DO get away from any type of income tax...then, everyone has that money to spend/save. So, you're just trading one tax for another. However, one advantage of the VAT type national tax would be...you'd start collecting tax from crime. People operating on cash basis, don't pay taxes on that under the table income (drugs, illegal workers, etc). However, all those people DO buy things...and you'd then be getting that revenue that is currently lost today.

And, well, rich people have more money to spend and they do like to spend it to live well, so, we'd be getting them to "pay more of their fair share" as the Obama mantra seems to go these days....easy, voluntary way to do that, no?

And, as for buying things outside the US...well, we'd likely do what Europe seems to do...they charge a VAT on imports, and catch it at the border, I'd guess the US would do the same.

Like I said....any type of fair/flat tax would be good for me. Simple, fair...and would be independent of the govt trying to manipulate behavior, which pisses me off....the govt is supposed to be responsive to ME the citizen, not me the citizen responsive to the govt!!

I don't believe there should be tax breaks or deductions for anything.

No one gets deductions for home mortgages, children, expenses, etc...nothing.

Simplify the tax code...you make $x this year...you pay 7% of that in. Simple.

I'd even go for the national sales tax in place of income tax...it would catch everything, and I believe..in the long run with either method, over all taxes would be lowered for everyone.

And besides, the govt shouldn't be in the business of trying to alter human behavior through taxes. Taxes should be there ONLY for the funding of vital govt services.

There are jobs out there...just maybe some that people think are beneath them.

If no jobs in your area, perhaps move to a new area?

Sorry, I don't buy it...things are tough, sure, but there ARE always legal ways to make money. Hell, I see hordes of Mexicans standing in front of the Lowe's or Home Depot and get picked up for manual labor. I'm sure there are other tough jobs that will earn money for someone with poor to little education. Heck, get on with a crew that mows lawns all day, etc.

It has nothing to do with conservative/progressive. All anyone needs is the willingness to work and tough it for awhile, but you can work and earn in ways that don't require you to take your clothes off.

I'm not saying pr0n or stripping isn't a viable method of income, but the OP was that this was a last resort and that often nothing else could be found.

If one is approaching a traffic light it will send the car the speed it will need to go to reach the light at the green condition. Cars will not allow lane changes unless it is safe and they will know when it is safe. Self driving vehicles will lead to a reduction of about a half in the need to drive.
