Idiot, ignorant rethuglikkkans toss the "socialist" label on just anybody who happens to be around. They're so stupid, they actually call Barack Obama a socialist. If only they had even 1 functioning brain cell, they would know that Barack Obama was the best moderate republican president the U.S has had since Dwight D. Eisenhower. The U.S *has no* meaningful left wing, and even Bernie Sanders would be considered a poseur/moderate conservative by European/Scandinavian standards.

And like I give a fuck about European/Scandinavian standards...?

I was asking a genuine question, from the viewpoint of an American if the Social Democrats in Germany would be similar to what a Socialist in America would be perceived as...

But from the US point of view...Obama was certainly NOT even a moderate leaning politician.

While I'd not say he was a socialist, he was certainly quite a bit more left than a lot of the US, and actually, truth be known, I think he himself would like to have gone even FURTHER left on most issues, but held back to try to not alienate too many in the US.

But I would say Obama is definitely NOT even close to conservative, and Bernie...definitely leans socialist.

One thing I respect about Bernie, at least he is up front about what he believes and is un-wavering.

I disagree with Bernie objectively on almost everything, but I do respect him at least that he picks his views, explains them and stick to them....

For those friends not in my immediate area...email, phone, text, FaceTime...etc.

I am lucky that I live in New Orleans...where something is going on all the time, I meet new people at all the music and food fests I go to here...meet folks at the gun range. There are still lots of neighborhood bars here, I know people there when I go for drinks.

And no, not a lick of this is done on social media.

Yes, I was alive before social media, maybe that gives me a leg up on doing all this without it....but seriously, it was done for most of mankind's history before social media...worked fine then, works fine now.

On the weekends, Costco usually has 10 lanes of cash registers with 10 people in line each, with baskets loaded to the top, followed by long long lines to pass by receipt checkers to exit the building...The downfall of "retail" isn't all about Amazon.com and online clicks, it also includes the rise of these warehouse stores that sell superior quality produce and products (except for their accidentally unauthorized jewelry and slightly obsolete electronics) as well as buying basic household goods in bulk to reduce cost in a country that has had depressed wages for twenty years. Because of the lower overhead, warehouse stores can be a much cheaper way to buy things than ordering online from Amazon and still offer some of the seasonal and local customizations that Department stores once did.

    I agree.

One of my favorite places to shop is Costco.

When they finally opened one in New Orleans....I found it is like Sam's Club, but on steroids.

I buy a lot of my weekly groceries there, at least bulk stuff. I get my meats there, and bulk veggies and fruit, and the price works out for me well.
