    water affects other water - light less so. the turbulence is caused by the water impacting itself on the back side of the rock. If this device unbends the light properly on the back side, no distortion.

    Considering that the statement is from 1968 we'll probably have to add a couple of ghosts to that number. Anyway, interesting line of thought.


    You'll notice he also references a global population of 6 billion, which we hit almost on the money in 2001. He was doing the numbers for 2001, not 1968. So yes, we add a few ghosts, buy five years worth, not 38. I don't think it actually affects the numbers at all but I felt I would point it out anyway.

    I don't know how far it got outside of philly, has anyone else heard about the sign requiring customers to speak english when ordering? It was pretty big in the news around here...

    for the record, Dell'd been using the same batteries and power adapters for their latitude laptops (and maybe others, couldn't say) for several years. one of my friends will come over and specifically ignore his laptop power adapter because he knows he can use mine (my laptop gets less use now that I'm not in school)

    they seem to have stopped, or perhaps it was just one model. I don't know details, but they made the effort for a while.

    sure everyone could afford the drugs they need -that exist- but what about the people who need drugs that don't exist because we stopped developing them?

    I'm just saying, you can't just stop this sort of progress without other repercussions.

    I think we all perhaps need to revisit the idea of "self sustaining"

    good points though, on the scale of damage possible given a circuit failure, ie if something in the loop fails, stopping the generated electricity from powering the generator. that sounds really silly.

    in my experience the native Windows smb engine has more issues than Samba does... like causing any host computer to crawl to a .. crawl... whatever.. whenever large files or large numbers of files are being transferred. Where as hosting from a Samba server doesn't even impact the host..

    and just in case it's -not- common knowledge, you can still hold shift to do selection and pasting involving the regular clipboard (for copying outside of the terminal window, perhaps?)
