Yay! I can finaly 0wn ebay(r) on my dialup connection! Good job guys.
Seriously though, you have to imagine how this will effect the less fortunate evil genuises of the world who are limited to dialup access (yes, there are bandwidth starved geeks out there). You have to wonder if your server wont be taking part in multiple DDoS attacks per week (its microsofts fault), because less bandwidth is required to do the dirty deed.
Now, if you look at it this way, the discovery of this method could be a good thing for the poor sysadmins of the world, i.e. less bandwidth required to bring down a server usingf a DoS attack = less compromised servers needed to perform the attack. See my point? If not, ask yourself your your listening to the ramblings of a 15 year old.
Thankfully, I uh.. well, lets just say that windows update would cause information about my machine *caugh*cd key*caugh* profile to be 'exposed'. So, like any self respecting geek, I killed update at the machine level. Now your thinking...insecure? No bug fixes? C'mon, its windows for gods sake! RAID couldnt kill THAT bug.
And the people downloading to get a copy at home are most likely either teenagers who 1: aren't (or shouldn't be for an R movie) their target audience, and 2: are likely to find a way around buying it anyway.
Shouldnt be in a R movie? Bah. Thats why I bought my ticket on fandango! The person didnt even bother to ask for id when the 15 year old presented her with a credit card and valiantly said "Fandango". So there.
As in re-burning? Personally I cant wait to put a good Linux distro on that shitty movie I rented. Seriously though, you have to think about this, is it copyable. In theory, it would be as a regular DVD for the first 48 hours, so I would assume the answer is yes. Now you must consider the new age hackers (er, crackers for that matter) would come up with some form of reversing it, even if it is a chemical change in the dvd. For all I know though, it could be as simple as throwing it in the microwave for a few mins to "burn" the data on it permanently. Or, you might simply be able to write a stream of 0's onto it from a cdrw burner which has been modified. As impractical, and stupid as that sounds...I really have no clue as to the specs of the technology. Time to pull out the old phone and "ask" them.
And what's the use of building yet another gadget-on-wheels that doesn't do all that much, but can be called a "robot". Seriously it's the robotics equivalent to 'hello world'. This kind of thing worries me in all seriousness; there are dozens of worthwhile projects people can spend their time on, coding and debugging work for some of the big OSS jobs that can be really worthwhile!.
Yes, thank you, I did. Now, if you would.. please READ THE SUBJECT. Americans enjoy something known as humor. Thats all I have to say, dont want to start a war. Wait...
$1,400? No thank you. I can make my own for $25 worth of PVC pipe from Home Depot, a couple cans of aquanet, and an old grill sparker. Mine has multiple ammo options too, such as potatoes and such... Heres My Model
I wonder if hollywood will try to sue PigDog for using the trademark'd name "DeCSS". I mean, they are suing for it, why not take advantage of it? Go get em guys!
