I dont think rocket propellants are really classified as explosives. They burn to produce all gases, and so can provide thrust but their burn rate is not very high (atleast solid propellants). You can safely hold a lit stick of solid propellant stick like a roman candle.
Or maybe I didnt understand your joke.
Since we already have Ultralight cigarettes and stuff, shouldnt be far fetched.Easy way to cure physological addiction, give him a cigarette with no nicotine.
Hemp actually an be used to make parts and stuff (I think) to make cars (Ford tried a model long time ago) so maybe there is a reason for Hemp to be opiate free.
Its not really fair to blame boeing for the seat pitch and reclining. The standard seat pitch that the airlines order seem to be 30 inch in economy. Boeing can change the seat pitch if you specify it when you order it.Privatair runs a fleet of 737s with a seat pitch of 55 inches IIRC (read it sometime ago on boeing website) . It just happens that your "ultra-cheap" airlines order the lowest possible one. If you have a serious problem you can fly first or business class (39 inches pitch, i think), and you send a message to the airliners that you are willing to pay more for the "luxury" of strectching your legs.
And Boeing really cant do anything about airline fooed either
Your third point is interesting though. IIRC the US AWACS runs on a boeing. So if they can put a whole big Radar on top of an airplane and still have no problems, I really cant understand how a puny cellphone can wreck the plane.
Its not really difficult to try out Solaris either. They will ship an x86 version to you at the cost of the media. Link here. It was a slashdot article some time ago.
You are also given free CDs at tradeshows and stuff. You can try walking into a Sun Office/Shop and ask for a CD. They might give one off
Spending time is nice but This is the page I think they should have linked to. Basically in the review they compare different chips (2.4Ghz, 2.8Ghz) etc. against each other all with 800Mhz FSB
No sir, The shuttle was not travelling that fast. The article clearly says 531 miles per hour.It was just picking up speed.
Also the Ice thing is just a possibility, Only if air (which contains water vapour) gets in between the foam and whatever cool part it was covering will ice form.If that was the case, Nasa has bigger problems to worry about.
Ballmer is well known for blowing a lot of hot air, so it's often hard to know What Exactly He's Really Saying. From this I know you are incorrect. He's the most lucid and clear guy I've ever seen. He even repeats it just in case you don't understand.
If Microsoft emails keep leaking like this, it is about time they came up with a "Trustworthy employee" program before the "trustworthy computing" initiative.
I am not too sure....
It is not music which is the commodity which is really being bought by the customers. It is the so called "experience". This calls for marketing (advertising), videos (why must music have a video to go along with it), coolness factor (mainly influenced by advertising, friends) etc. Most of these cost money. All Apple could do is to provide a distribution channel, cutting the cost in getting to the market.
Also if Indie's start selling well, the music labels would probably pull support for Apple. So Apple better get to a level where Indie's are their main revenue before their current contract with the labels expire.
Just an opinion, dont mean to be a doomsayer
As a search on Google shows an SEC probe has happened to a lot tech. of companies.
Other than the Fact that IBM is a major player in the SCO story, does this deserve a mention on the slashdot frontpage? Is this in any way an effort to slashdot the IBM share prices? Why does the submission come from somebody who has never earlier posted on slashdot
Did Iraq have WMD?
Thanks a lot for the information, though the question was mainly rhetorical. I have never worked on Windows clusters. If your info is correct, then Linux clusters are really superior
On page two of the article, there is a mention of Linux, Beouwulf etc. Moreover x86 is not mentioned explicitly. From the article By rewriting existing scientific programs, they say, researchers will be able to get powerful computing from inexpensive clusters of personal computers that are running the free Linux software operating system. Many scientists are now adapting their work to these parallel computing systems, known as Beowulfs, which make it possible to cobble together tremendous computing power at low cost.
And if you are going to rewrite Unix code, it is easier to rewrite it for Linnux than for Windows. And how much can a MS cluster scale anyway?
This Article in ZDnet India shows what the President of India thinks of the whole thing. But Unfortunately the President (like the Queen of England )is a rather ceremonial post.
Near zero information in there.

Ximian's Back
·
· Score: 5, Informative
From the Conclusion of the article, it appears that the reviewer actually liked Ximian desktop. But unfortunately, he hardly gives any solid examples of why it is actually good or usable. The article is like, OK It is customisable, from GUI-apps that too (Standard with any desktop I would assume),detected all my Icons from previous gnome, looks good(?) . Only solid piece of info I got that is that it adds a program bar to the top of the desktop along with the default start menu at the bottom. And yes, most of the old bugs apparently have been fixed.
But in the "bad and ugly" section the reviewer gives real examples... like My computer, trashcan etc. cannot be deleted. Download behaviour of Galeon has changed etc.
Unfortunately the conclusion of the article (ximian is goog) goes barely supported. though the author does call it a "first look"
I am listening to the call. They do mention themselves as Unix IP owners many times.
They apparently had a source license deal with Microsoft.
About the current situation, he says check the website. They are going to terminate the license to IBM in 100 days. They blame code violations
They seem totally unapologetic about mailing fortune 500 companies about IP violations.
Really bad html in my prev. post and a wrong link to boot. So here is the right one
You probably can support Novell by joining Novell Forge and helping write some opensource software.
Thanks Novell. First for UDDI and now for this.just don't change your mind.
Also this development begs the question "What exactly did Microsoft buy from SCO?"

This article can't be a Slashvertisement, can it be ?
It got posted in the its-pretty funny department, so...
In fact, the quality of the transmission was so good, so much like being there, that Telus engineers added a bit of noise to make the call sound, well, more normal.
Just wait for the Slashdot effect to strike...., then you an have dropped packets, shift in time and all sort of digital noise... No need to add analog noise to it.
Funny that the reviews of the book look like this
So much for trusting reviews.........

Poor us! We are between the devil and the sea.
Is MS bad or are patents and suits bad.
Whom do we support now?

I'm sure it was most probably an innocent mistake. Something about relative URLs.
