That's because the G4 in its current state cannot support a faster bus (hence the abstraction of the DDR memory from the system bus). The 970 will fix this problem (and so would the G4 7457-RM, but that's still vapor at this point).

IANAL, but I think the issue is Dilution of trademark. That's why Xerox doesn't want you to say "I'm going to Xerox these papers" and Kleenex wants you to say "I'm goign to get a tissue" instead of "I'm going to get a Kleenex." Once a word becomes part of the common language, it cannot be trademarked. However, they have no legal authority to keep you from using it or to keep people from putting it in the dictionary (Since Xerox and Kleenex are in the dictionary, but listed as trademarks).

"Reasoning declined to disclose which operating systems it compared with Linux, but said two of the three general-purpose operating systems were versions of Unix."

How lame. For all we know, they could have tested the Amiga OS, Mac OS 9, Windows 3.1, A/UX, and NeXTStep! Other than this, the article is pretty vague and does not seem to give me much meat on the subject, nor a link to the study (you have to go through some forms and give up personal info to get it at www.reasoning.com).

The best BBS door ever had to have been Hacker for the Amiga CNet bulletin board system. Buy new terminals, virii, and modems and rise to be the ultimate hacker. There were takeoffs of this on the PC BBS side, but they never seemed to capture the spirit of Hacker for me.

You could hack other user's machines and take their money, virii, etc. Was quite fun! If only someone ported it and made it into an online multiplayer game. That would rock.

Artisan? Sony just came out with it, discontinuing it so quickly would be ceding an important market (color nut graphic designers like me who demand absolute color) to LaCie (I have an Electron19Blue III). Aside from the fact that it costs more than the 21 inch LaCie w/ Blue eye for the same package, I don't see the advantage, but it's still an important option as people are familiar with the Sony name.

That makes 10 billion phone numbers in the US/Canada country code! Now, I know why we can't use every area code and every exchange, etc, but really - isn't 10 billion phone numbers enough? Probably like how 4.6 billion IP addresses aren't enough (then again, that's for the whole world). Also, as for the +1, I've always had to use it when dialing "long distance" numbers in my own area code (IE dialing a Westfield exchange in the 413 area code as opposed to a Pittsfield or Lenox exchange). I think that's something required by the phone system. Try dialing a non-local exchange of your area code without the 1 and the phone will angrily tell you to dial the number with a 1 and the area code.
