Hah, we're obviously all interested in this tech by the prospects of power-suits and anime inspired mechs existing in this life time. Myself included! :-)

The parent post sums it up. And forget the Segway. How 'bout a WHEELCHAIR??? You get to sit and you can even get motors to drive you and that new one that climbs stairs.

This is absolutely wrong. You only survive getting hit by a glance of lighting. One of the smaller bolts may lick you and leave a little burn. If the main bolt hits you, the only thing left is a pile of ashes. My AP physics teacher back in highschool told me how his sister was a Park Ranger and she would be first to the scene of a lightening strike incident and the only thing left was a "pile of ashes." I know this sounds like a story from a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend...etc but for some reason I have the highest trust in my highschool physics teacher. He can not be wrong!@

This is quite a surprise. I bought a $300 Radeon 9700Pro about 2 months ago thinking I would need the power to run Doom3 at a decent speed. Now I'm hearing that a card that competes with GeForce4MX will run the game perfectly?!

They must have really optimized since the Alpha! I guess that's good news. :-)

You have translucent windows in Win2000? How'd you do that?

I've only seen this working in WinAmp3 but I'd love to have opacity settings for my WinXP and 2000 desktops.

Although I didn't RTFA, I can say that the Turing test is pretty useless for determining machine intelligence.

I've argued over at Kurzweil AI and AI-forum.org in several discussions for the need to analyze brain (biological or not) architecture to ultimately conclude if something is actually INTELLIGENT. The need for this comes from the many brute force and somewhat cleverly written chat bots like Alan that attempt to appear intelligent.

I hope everyone here will check out these two forums because there are lots of interesting topics that require the attention of the global nerd community. And there are plenty of wacko theories to smite too(especially on Kurzweil's site.)

Yeah, but consumers might pay for enhanced sound quality. I don't know how these LCD speakers are supposed to work, but just the idea of a 15 inch wide speaker equals one very important thing missing from laptop sound: BASS!

How sweet would it be to hear a nice deep, sub-woofer quality bass coming from a laptop? Very nice indeed.

Yeah, this is really isn't "new" physics as they are advertising. Light isn't doing anything different... it's doing exactly what we expected it to do in our engineered new material.

This is "exotic materials," not "new physics."

Anyway, the whole thing is really cool!

Miles? There are fuel cells for laptops, not cars. I don't think this is vaporware. This is finally going to start to happen, probably not in a big way, but models will be available. The idea of using vodka and other widely available ethanol sources is great! As for the underage, they'll just have to buy the "official" ethanol refuelers (which I guess will be too potent to drink safely?) and the of-age crowd will have the added benefits. Seems fair... kids already don't get a lot of things they want, just add another... MWWUUHAHAW~
