It now fits my main uses, which are reading academic papers, writing notes, and doing calculations.
My only question to him is: How could those needs not be met in a Windows XP envrioment? I would hope that he didn't spend too much time durring class and such trying to install Linux durring a lecture. I thought the main idea of a Tablet PC was to keep you from having so much hassle.
I noticed my PBG4/867 was slow to boot OSX, but I found this is only if you have it set to sync to a timeserver and are not connected to a network with a connection to the net, so disable the timeserver feature or plug in your ethernet when you boot up, and it will boot VERY fast.
My article for building this got denied last night so I'll post it here instead. To create a list of authenticated users automatically that allows people to enter their address etc.. via a web form (much like Spam Arrest visit this how-to. It requires only a web server, php interpreter and Mercury e-mail server.
Even though Kazaa may be in the last stretch before it loses its following because of spyware and the like, the off-shoot Kazaa Lite seems to be going strong and has a much better potential for taking Kazaa's place. Granted Kazaa in closed source and contains worms and spyware but Kazaa Lite being free of all that seems to be in the right niche to move in.
yes, but the butane used by radio shacks torches is just an example, it's an open standard/plug thing used in lighters/etc, so I can buy the butane almost anywhere (like walmart)
That sounds like the ideal motion to make. Perhaps then we won't be taxed for products we purchase online like the government has been threatening for so long. And what about all these e-mail tax rumors I keep getting as forwards... tricky business I say. (end sarcasm)
This is very offtopic, but more interesting, try to submit an article on it, if I had mod points right now, I'd mod you up. All I have to say is "wow".
What if they were given more simple tasks, like somthing for someone who can't see well, see if they can learn simple things, like using the mouse, clikcing buttons, etc, communicate them where they can understand things without reading it. In conclusion: I would have done a better experiment, and if they copy my idea and don't give me gobs of $$, They should contact me todo so:D preston at moderngeek dot com
The best thing to do would be setup a large hard drive with a very very minimal Win98 or Linux partition with Xwindows that has DiVX built in then use another partition for storing DiVX files to from the archive.
Then you won't have to worry about DiVX sticking around. Just throw it into a computer with an IDE cable and you'll be fine (Granted IDE stays around long enough, but most computers still have PS/2 ports and serial ports so that's likely to stick).
Perhaps Microsoft's problem is not that their products are totally raunchy but the names for them are poorly strategized.
What is a netbios anyway? Or an XBox, what does that have to do with the Microsoft branding? Or even these 2 letter acronyms that they append to certain OSs that no one will ever come out and tell you what they mean.
Problem here is that their names are just poorly realized.
And yet people are still dumb enough to crank out cash for that service.
It goes to show you, it takes very little work on a monolithic corporation's part to get cash from sappy Visual Basic developers

he did have a wintv cd in one of the pictures, the antenna might be for television.
it's from the simpsons ... laugh
This is so funny, it deserves a +11!
This sort of buyout search via legality was the first thing that came to mind. Even more ironic is that I figured IBM would be the target.
Brilliant.
Just imagine a beowulf of erased hard drives!
I didn't know Kazaa had a centralized control server?

If they made fuel cell things for laptops, etc I would hope to see the cartidges to be refillable, like butane torches from radio shack.
Quit bitcing, all of you, you all act as if bitching is what slashdot is all about :) Now, someone please bitch about my spelling error(s).

Good thought, that didn't even come to mind. Atleast one thing for certian: keep an installer for DiVX on the drive :)

Don't you think after years of bug fixes from Microsoft that they would have "innovated" this sort of thing first with all the money they make...?
