    I used that book. I would mod you up but no modding and posting. :( I made a mini "OS" which just went to PM, switched tasks, and did a little screen writing before going back to DOS. It wasn't a real OS but rather a program that uses PM. ButI learned all I needed to know from kindergarten, er that book. And I still have it.

    Right now I don't have a job so no I don't get $60 an hour. When I did it was closer to $15. If I got a job it would be entry level and much less than $60. The few programmers, relatively, might get that much but that many out of jobs don't.

    In western New York I personally haven't parallel parked since my test. All the places have parking lots so I don't need to park that way normally.

    IANAL and of course you should get one but all these "ask slashdotters" only seem to get that as a responce. Since knowledge is power wouldn't more info from other slashdotters who may have encountered this before be of help to the lawyer when he does see him. Just because you didn't study law doesn't mean you can't possibly help. With the usual disclaimers, i.e. IANAL, you could at least help some.

    I'm puzzled. So If I own a domain that sounds like a trademark they can just take it claiming I can't own it for some reason. But I bought it fair and square. Unless buying domains doesn't mean anything.

    I didn't read them all but didn't see this. Why not put a mesh like chicken wire around the turbines. The birds can't get through but wind can. The holes might have to be large enough to be wind-efficient so to let small birds in but how many Golden Eagles can fit in a 10 cm by 10 cm area?

    I hope people who don't do a citizens arrest won't themselves be arrested. It's unlikely but you always have to be careful.

    Here is a thought example. Take a wealthy family with 2 parents and 2 kids. Also take a poor family with 2 parents and 10 kids. I am guessing, but have no empiricle data, that the 4 person wealthy family will use more resources in fuel and such, except maybe food, than the 12 person poor family. Of course people in India and China use many resources too but family size isn't everything. I do agree that both countries, though China has started already, to tone down population. With over a third of the world's people in a small area , less than that of the USA and Canada, resources go quickly. But the USA's "consume or die" attitude were aren't doing to well either.

    Oddly enough I have an 89 though not a Mercury. It still works fine. Of course Mercury station wagons in that year could be worse. But my car is perfect for someone who only drives for a couple hours drive time per week. In any case that is a cool idea for big business. If you are smart enough to get out before too late you might make money. And since most won't the company will too. Everybody wins, except those more souls who keep upgrading their car, OS, or whatever every year.

    I wish you weren't anonymous so I could make you a friend. I haven't been a minor for many years now and I am fine. When I was 10 I didn't want cigs or alcohol. When I was 20 I didn't want them. Now that I'm 25 I still don't want them. As I said before, age doesn't matter, only wisdom. Age is in fact bearly related to wisdom. The problem is parents don't care weather kids play these games. Now I was brought up with Super Mario Bros. and such which aren't quite as violent as GTA. It's education that these kids need not an age limit.

    I wonder what Europeans want to see. You, and I, probably don't see sex as much being 'taboo' so we want that. I would guess people from Europe might want the other. And of course people from countries like Singapore would want to see both. Since we see violence all over the place we are used to it.

    Sure you can. You can buy anything on Ebay, or is it eBay, now-a-days. I'm still waiting for something to sell something stupid like a bit or even better a penny. With all the people on Ebay someone will buy it.

    You shouldn't just go to the store to get independent music but you should ask the people who work there, preferably managers since the cashiers probably don't know better, which musicians, even if you actually know the answer, are members of an RIAA studio so you know which to buy. If it's a small business it might help even better than a chain store in which the manager probably has little control on which music to buy. Of course they will ignore you regardless but it can't hurt.

    I lived 15 years or so 200 feet from high voltage lines. And 500 from a substation. My family and my neighbors are fine. Of course I post on Slashdot so I guess that answers you question. I don't think anything happens from being near them. I didn't even care about it when I found out something might happen.

    Let's get rid of Lincoln on the 5 and the penny. He illegaly shut down newspapers who were critical of the war and he stole, read "freed" slaves he had no authority to do. All presidents and others did something bad. But we need to choose someone.

    Is that what that dot was? I alwaye see it and then a couple seconids later another one. I've always wondered what that is. Sometimes I even see it in older movies on TV.

    Illegal dumping would be tresspassing or vandalism while trash burning is pollution related. And most people don't mind if someone else picks up their trash. They just don't want it themselves. The rest can be dealt with by things like shreading or keeping. You do keep reciepts don't you.

    I personally don't like this. I think that trash, and recycling too, once it is sent to the curb, should be thought of public property. Anyone can claim it if they want. I don't mind people knowing what I throw away. If it is something sensitive then I will make it unsensitive or keep it. Plus rulings like this make it harder to turn "one man's trash into another's treasure."

    Oddly enough Venus Flytraps are endangered because of commercialism. They are being sold faster than they grow in the wild and at home they don't reproduce.
