Just before some of you real fanatics go berserk, I was a Real user so I know the nasty little things they do.
Having Microsoft Operating system to hold other competitors back is definitely....Microsoft. On the other hand, having Real installed and doing something CLOSE to hold back other competitors (through annoying users), isn't exactly right either.
I never saw netscape defaulting my browser everytime I run Internet Exploder.
Two wrongs don't make a right. I couldn't think of which side to stand on since I can't find the lesser of the two evils. Well, MS, obviously, but I would like to see Real fail.
seriously though, as yourself this question: What is the ratio of legit consumers vs "music pirates"?
I for one despise DRM, but stand on both sides of the boat for a moment...who's got the bigger tilt?
I am not saying there aren't legit consumers out there, and I know there are quite a few of them. But as a company like (chills and sharp aches down my spine) Sony, how do you propose to treat this massively mixed group of consumers?

a GOOD STORY LINE For starters, I think Matrix Revolutions really did create a revolution in the movie industry: they proved that you still need a good story line in order to make a good movie even with zillion dollars set for CG. Revolutions might have been an eye candy, but I definitely snoozed through a part of it. I don't think I can sit through that again. But I definitely have watched some Disney films and some anime (Studio Ghilibi) more than 2 or three times.
For me, CG does cut away a bit of the "warmth" that comes from traditional style animation. I liked Lilo and Stitch more than Finding Nemo or Shrek, even though all three had a good storyline and were equally entertaining.
I guess I am lenient towards traditional because I watch anime alot. The newer types of anime with a lot of CG really don't compare to the older ones that I like.

when I was getting the keys to my new ride, the dealer explained each manual to me. Aside from the large Car manual, he went through (he said the law requires it) each smaller one, like tires, battery, etc. He got to the Airbag one and he just stopped.
So I read the "graphical representations of what NOT to do", one of them had a pic of a solsbury doughboy type character driving straight into a brick wall. And the second one had a pic of the same character driving off a 5-somewhat story high building hitting the ground head on.
I think it also had a label saying the airbag warranty does not cover these type of collisons.......
I have a few friends living in apartments that did not get a phone.
When I visited, I had to walk to a phone booth two streets down to make a phone call (cell phone dead). My friends all use cell phones and their entire apartment is connected via wireless connections. They also have a computer in the living room that is used specifically for entertainment.
I can see how VoIP is a perfect match for people like that. Given cell phones are almost a must, VoIP is definitely a good choice, if not, alternative.
My family sometimes use VoIP to call each other. I don't exactly know how good SIP or Skype is given I don't trust KaZaa ever since their spyware technique, but the quality of the calls my families made were sub-standard. You can hear them fine, but can't avoid the occasional stattering.
Internationally, some people do get local phone cards to make international calls for cheaper rates. Most foreign assignees I know do that. The quality of these phone cards is skeptical and sounds just like VoIP sometimes. Having a program like skype or SIP is a great alternative
Remember McDonalds with the old lady burning herself with coffee? She won and McDonald had to become captain obvious with that label on the the coffee cup.
I guess pretty soon the HD boxes and the HDs themselves will have a big warning label too. The difference here is that knowing coffee is hot is common sense (to 99.9% of the people, apparently), and knowing computer is binary, on the other hand is not. Seriously, unless you KNOW about computers and binary, why would you CARE how the big the HD is in binary math?
I should start a new university, where the new major will be: Suing People.
of course not; that's a logical explanation, so no.
Think of the situation as a fairy tale. Like a person who couldn't figure out what the cause of the problem is and just started to make assumptions and blames.
I can understand why no one thinks that way though. I mean the ending would be too much like a typical horror book rather than a fairy tale:
"Oh wait a minute, maybe it's simply because of the music we choose to represent and the popular culture is getting old......maybe if the music representation was really music and not just image....NO! I lost that trend of thought! What was that?!"
For once I am hoping M$ won't get pounded on this one. Someone or something needs to define where the responsibility line is. They would need to categorize software.
Most of the M$ software would probably rank as the most responsible on that scale.....But the line needs to be defined. Otherwise we will have enough lawsuits to go around to keep the bubble growing.
Arr Ie Aye Aye Suing Department, please do not hang up as our collect call to your phone is very important to our revenue. This call may be monitored for further financially benefiting lawsuits.

I bought one of the Linkin Park CDs: Why? Cuz I like almost 80% of the songs on the CD
I didn't buy one of the Creed CDs: Why? Cuz I only liked 2-3 songs on the entire album.
I didn't buy one of Justin Timberlake CDs: Why? Cuz I hate every single song on there.
I didn't buy one of Britney Spear CDs: Why? Cuz I hate every single song and $15+ is too expensive for a mini-poster/photo album
When there are compliation CDs, where I can choose which song I want on the CD, I will gladly pay for that CD. CDs created by Recording Studios/Companies will sound better than an average mp3 (not an audiophile, but I hear the difference).
When something like this is avail, I would imagine a mounting popularity. This will not STOP piracy. But when something like this is avail to you, what possible excuse can you use other than "willingly pirate?"

From my recent researches on a project that requires a domain name, I have read many complains and negative feedbacks on Verisign. Generally, I was surprised to see very few, if any, marked verisign as good. Almost everyone recommended something else. Majority of them preferred godaddy.
Reading the crap clients of verisign went through (you don't own the domain name, they do, etc etc), I feel this is just their common practice. Money. Any way possible.
Competition is fierce out there, especially with other more "consumer-oriented" companies out there. THe monopoly is shattered. If you can't beat them, kick them off the market, make them work for you.
I am getting the feeling that the patent office is beginning to grant monopolies instead of patents.....
I don't know about everyone, but for me, I have switched from being a EA NBA Live fan to NBA 2k fan. From my opinion, I think EA Sports really tear their NBA series apart; given, they really don't have lots of other competitors on other sports games. NBA Live series has turned into "hip" action pact nonsense, while Sega's NBA 2k series are realistic and well designed in many aspect.
It would be interesting to combine these talents and see what the will come up with next. I am not a savvy sega fan, but it would be interesting to see if Sega can bring better games (especially in the RPG section) through EA.
Although as some posters mentioned before, that is if EA doesn't eat Sega for breakfast, just like they did with some previous companies

1. Pre-Install Crap on computers
2. Remove the same crap during charged repairs
3. PROFIT!!!!!!!!
And the cycle continues endlessly...especially with horny morons that sit in front of their computer thinking "maybe this link does have real pr0n"
so............
you remove a lot of microsoft products then?
Digital TV is great. Although some things need more than "digitalize" to get better.

as great as most people think of the ipod, I can guarantee that it doesn't have a taste modifying feature.
I would take 40 gigs of songs (hmm, good ones, so really, around 15 megs), yes, but not with 40 pounds of grease.
And in other news, man won $1 bill worth of songs stuck inside a local McDonalds.
we'll see microsoft leaked memos
that would be quite interesting, ya
Diebold might not hold up in court, but if this were M$, I wonder if the situation would be the same.....
Everyone can play the Blame Game (Ages 1-99, no. of players, more the merrier, when will Hasbro pick this one up?)
The fact remains, two wrongs do NOT make a right; especially in this case.

a nice healthy glow? Or they don't want to ruin their night hunting trips?
These parents aren't related and named Cletus and Ann-Marie, right?
If more parents are like this, I think I wouldn't have so much trouble finding an IT job.

On the back of the modem card, it had a sticker label that says:
