ahh you now see the problem with it.... What I have been doing is just not listening... I will preview a few tracks and If I like them, buy them, not the album. I have then been emailing the publisher telling them how furious as a buyer I am at them for what they are doing.
Finally I send my senator a copy of the webpage, and a ad showing the CD price and a letter basically running down how it should be cheaper to buy online, not more or equal to in price.
Its a lot of work, but luckly its only a few companies who are doing it right now (Capitol/EMI being the worst of them) hopefully something will happen that will bring this to light to the general consumer
Whatever happened to my decentralized net with no single point of failure?
Easy, when most websites use some service of just one company, then it doesnt much matter how decenteralized the web is.
The way to solve it is get more companies out there who provide the same sevices, something not easy after the dot bust era when people dont want to take such risks.
or more the record companies couldnt agree with Apple, you know kinda like how the US record companies are trying to force Apple to charge more than 9.99 for albums by not releasing entire albums unless they get their way.
Do people REALLY need this much space. I mean seriously if almost 70% of your mail is junk, and you take care of your junk filters, do people, even getting email at work, really get all that much email to warrent this?
Better yet what is the max attachment limit. Because while I could see 1 gig if your attachment limit was 500 meg or 250 meg, if its the standard 5 - 10 meg, then whats the point, you couldnt send big files via it anyway and would be back to FTPing things to each other.
Sorry I just dont see the point of this, If you need this much space, maybe its better to start up your own email server.
Bad coding for not looking forward to bigger memory cards?
Or good coding by making things as small and compact as possible to fit more on the disk?
Personally if this had been 20 years ago, I could understnad where the problem came from..... but it being 2004 and these DVD holding a good chunk of space that the code for bigger mem cards would hardly be more than a few lines, if at that, I highly doubt those games use, I am banking toward the bad coding idea.
well you can see them, hence the please read the card before opening the cd sticker.
Im sorry but the honest truth is legaly you HAVE to abide by what the aggrement states, otherwise you will be found guilty. Your giving the same argument people who buy cars without reading the agreement give and it doesnt fly for them, so why should it fly for you?
But here is the honest question.... do you REALLY have that much of a need for that much HD space... I could understand this if you did Graphics/Movie/ or Audio work... but if this is just a normal home setup, do you need this much space, and how much space is actually used?
1) talk about the benifits of RAID
2) make the general public think thats they really need a RAID regardless of the fact that they generally do not
3) make a chipset cheaply to get people to buy more HD to make a RAID
4)????????
5) PROFIT
Here is my question... what ever happen to just backing things up. Not everyone is a multi-million dollar corp. I highly doubt you would loss everything if that collection of Britney Spears vorbis files went in the crapper.... So why make a RAID?
Do you try to sound this dumb, or do you just not care? A Licensing agreement IS a contract. Its not some free speech exercise its the agreement your making with them not to steal the software
And just because the software didnt have the seal, doesnt mean you didnt sign a contract with the publisher by opening it. If you seriously think that you have no obligations put for under those little cardboard cards in the game, then well I really would hate to be your lawyer. Because many people have already been sued and lost because they didnt read those cards and broke the contract.
You should really sit back and read those cards you signed when you opened the software flap.... unless you never really bought the software to begin with;-)
Guess you never read that seal when you opened the disk. You just proved my point of stupidity is not an excuse.
Take a look next time before you open a software package for a computer. It says right there DO NOT OPEN THIS SEAL UNLESS YOU AGREE TO THE ENCLOSED FORUM
That was a contract stating you wont copy the game, and will obey the rules set out by the published of the game you just signed by opening it... If a 23 year old could tell you this, then Im sure a 30 something could know it to.
And before you say it, they have always been there and it is a 100% legal signature. Just because you dont sign it by hand doesnt mean there are other forums
because Apple and AOL are partners with the video part.... Apple was the one who added video support to AIM, with iChat. AOL followed suit a few months later.
You would think after having started on the Macintosh Platform and getting help from them recently in terms of video, they would throw the Apple AOL users a bone here.
Not that I care, I havent used AOL since it was 3.0
SEE here is the thing, it actually uses both. You can either use the side ways scrolling, OR the old OS 9 directory is a folder method... I know a lot of people still like the later way, but I persoanlly love the former. The sideways scrolling window is now my default window on everything. It just makes life easier.
And really isnt this the point here.... if it makes your life eiser use what way to view files you want.... you can view them all 3d if you so chose! I dont get where all the bickering on this subject is coming from!
Thats right he should have the right to stop offereing it...... AFTER he pays for the year or so he's been knowingly offering it and scamming Valve out of money.
Stupidity is no excuse when you willfully did not read the contracts involved when setting things up thinking "oh they wont notice one little person." Besides if he honestly was innocent, then the courts will decide in the lawsuit. But trust me if his excuse was he didnt read the contracts they are going to throw the book at him, cause that doesnt fly in real life.
WOW I take that back only on slashdot would not only a book about math be called a page turner but have people actually pissed off at what was obviously a joke about it.....
you should get out some.... go to a nice B&N pick up a non-nerdy book like some good manga or something and get a coffee.... I bet you didnt know but you can even bring your laptop, they have wireless!!!
;-)

thats because like most of the publishing world, they are under the idea of if it works, run it into the ground even if there is a faster and easier way to do things. Preventing a problem is second to just running with what they have
I wont even begin to tell you the arguments I got into with my printer because he couldnt work with PDF's, at least at the quality I wanted him to. He was quark all the way and it was sickening because by this point it had been almost 3 years of next to zero Quark support while Adobe had gone two versions already and could run circles around Quark....
Go to any major design school right now, you know what they are running....... G3/early G4's with quark in OS 9! Its sick, even some of the teachers rip their hair out because they are running faster powerbooks on the road than most of their equipment, and are supposed to be TRAINING people on!
I hate when someone beats me to a story... especially when I submitted it right after it went up!
anyway Personally I thought it was more of a cross between IT-O , the imperial droid Vader used on Leia and Haro from Mobile Suit Gundam who ALSO uses a jet system very simular to the PSA
Had to get something to replace my Virtual Game Station ;-)

why would you ever want to still use 98, or worse use 98 ONLINE! Your just opening yourself up for a risk there.
or more the record companies couldnt agree with Apple, you know kinda like how the US record companies are trying to force Apple to charge more than 9.99 for albums by not releasing entire albums unless they get their way.
a surprising amount actually, though Apples big client outside the US is Japan.

wow this has to be the worst friday ever for you guys!!!! I feel sad for you, something has got to be bad when two humerous jokes fall flat :-D
