nope, because you dont have to buy a iPhone, same argument as always. If the iPhone where the ONLY phone on the market, yes a case can be made, but its not nor is it the only phone to offer apps, and Apple doesnt do anything to prevent other players from having the same Apps AS the iPhone has, and thus doesnt do anything all that monopolistic.
Ill see your rubbish and raise you "your a idiot." Facebook HAS no video player, it uses video linked from other sites like..... YOUTUBE. And while your right MySpace has video, Youtube basically owns the market for use uploaded video.
as pointed out above, unless you explicitly went to the site to download 4 beta, you did not get updated it. Its pretty clear these are legit downloads from people who WANTED to download the beta.
Seriously I think it works excellently. And to complain about DRM on a RENTAL is insane especially when the original had DRM too. Sorry Im sure Netflix will take being able to offer films to Mac users and soon linux users with moonlight, over a few people bitching any day.
HA thats a laugh... DO you REALIZE how paranoid your making yourself out to be. Let me actually straighten you out on a few facts though. First your lucky if ANY of the software in your respective district is younger than 4 years. I am still supporting a 8 year old testing program that will not work in Vista, or OS X Intel, and only runs in Classic mode on OS X PPC (yes that means it was written for OS 9!) Second, the amount of data being sent to a company is irrelevant to the sheer mass of data being sent to your states BoE on your kid. I am talking about case-files FEET thick in some cases, on EVERY child, most children's programs dont even have any identifying link to a child beyond a first name. Third our network is so locked down that some packages of ours need to be activated over the phone because they can not contact their company through our firewall. And lastly, we are SO understaff that your lucky ANYONE reviews a program coming into the district, and it wont be the IT department doing it, as rarely will you have someone there who has accreditation as a educator. In my department of 15, I am the ONLY person with a teaching degree, and NO ONE consults me on programs being brought in. They are either state mandated, or administrator mandated. Simply put your reasoning is flawed, because you dont know how public education works. Its underfunded, and so full of red tape and government mandates that it makes management structures of big business look like a cakewalk.
Not only that but it is utterly impossible to find academic books BASED around oss. Like it or not administrators like physical representations of the lessons the students are going to learn, which means lessons in a book. when it comes to Word, Photoshop, Excel this is easy. Not so with GIMP or OpenOffice.
Likewise I have yet to see decent multi-media software for video editing or the like. Our students are learning Final Cut Pro, the industry standard now for motion picture editing. OSS is just not going to cut it, especially when these students are leaving school with basic FCP certifications.
FFXI for all purposes is scripted. While it has MMO elements (the grind, large mob fights, PvP battles, quests) the main game is a massive storyline spanning decades at this point from the recent past up to the game worlds current day.
Not to mention from what I can see, its pretty much a repackaged free version of Quake III with new maps. But the lack of Mac support just kills it for me, Im not running emulation just to play a FPS when there are plenty of free and maintained FPS out there of the Quake and UT variety. Interesting concept but crappy execution.
I dont know I think the iPhone SDK is pretty awesome, easy to use, and also allows you to distribute free apps. The only think a pain is the distribution network.
Are the jobs being laid off REALLY Information Technology? I hardly consider sales, data people, or most management positions IT. They might be IT related in that they work with IT people, but they do nothing actually technical and I would not be calling any of them to repair a network or fix a computer. In the same way I dont consider engineers to be IT either, they are engineers, not technicians, related but still different fields.
When it comes to actual IT work, I have no want for job opportunities atm, getting at least one valid offer a month, though I am specifically staying with my not as well paying public position BECAUSE of a questionable private sector market. Be seriously most of these jobs being shed are just not true IT job, and people need to learn what the actual definition of IT is and isnt.
except that same amount of large corps use Microsoft on the desktop level. Which is what we are talking about here. And WHY Linux needs a one size fit all.
I dont know how. The chords it makes are very much basic chord progressions all but really novice musicians would know, which is where the hate comes from in my opinion. There is nothing being done here you couldnt do with a old casio keyboard.
Will we see the day when Britannica can be edited almost instantly while editing Wikipedia requires fighting bureaucracy, patience and the right contacts?
At this point with whos running things at Wikipedia, I would not be shocked to see the day Britannica supersedes Wikipedia. Wikipedia has LONG to go to answer for its many sins of recent, the biggest being kicking Jimmy Wales and his cult to the curb.
Its a sad sad thing that you would be upset about the couple billion spent to save millions of middle to low income workers jobs while HUNDREDS of BILLIONS where spent to give a Bank exec a 60,000 dollar commode.
Whos talking about a virus? I dont see ANYTHING about a virus. I DO see a story about a TROJAN. Whole different ball of wax there. No system EVER will be secure from a trojan, since for a trojan to work the USER has to willingly give his admini password to install it.
You have not seen the White House IT. Apparently computers are missing, and in many cases over 6 years old and in such bad shape their new IT guys dont even know what CAN be updated or if it should. They are talking about redoing the entire White House at this point.
WRONG. YOU ABSOLUTLY DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT
Fords cars are 100% American and have been ever since they dumped the old style Focus here, which has been the bane of Auto lovers for ages as their Euro models as are GMs are much nicer. The simple fact is NO European american made car (Ford or GM) can EVER be sold in the US and retain the economy they get in Europe, it is legally impossible due to the different safety standards and Americans want for HP over MPG and fear of diesel.
Case in point the Euro built Saturn Astra. Here is a car that did in fact get a very minor changes to Americanize it, basically more Airbags and a bumper change to pass US safety tests. It even retained the low HP better MPG engine (though it did not include the better MPG diesel). It flopped, horribly despite it being the number 2 seller in Europe for YEARS now.
If the documentation is there, then its the hired persons responsibility to know WTF they are doing. What your talking about is a documentation issue, not a support one. And all told I have yet to EVER work ANYWHERE even with AD setups where everything was documented and you didnt have to do some searching out of why something was done, or why something is convolutedly implemented. Its par for the course in IT and if you cant understand that, you belong back at the help desk supporting staff with how to open a document on their desktop, and no where near the infrastructure.
The very idea you should tailor your network for your replacement is ludicrous.
legally they are REQUIRED to provide the information they obtain of the offendee to the "offending" person for challenge IF the challenge is deemed invalid, for prosecution in the DMCAs false claim clause. They have rarely if ever done this which is illegal. The problem is people who put their stuff on You Tube rarely have the money to take Google to court on this, especially if they are intending to THEN take on the media people so they just give up.
And your right it IS their site, but that doesnt exclude them from having to follow the letter of the law. They are not now.
not true at all. The DMCA requires a challenge period which You Tube has done NOTHING to provide, as well as by law they should be taking claimed rights holders who have filed illegal challenges to them to court, which they will never do while they get content from the very same challengers. As it stands now, Google is JUST as in violation of the DMCA as the challenging rights holders have been. Even worse, people whos original works have been removed by Google due to major media falsely making claim have had little help from You Tube to get legally required information for them to file lawsuits against the claimed rights holders.
Its very much a case of Google doing a lot of things evil, and illegal.
likely not installed. The aircraft he flew was home built from a kit. From what I remember hearing it was the first time he had ever flown it any distance beyond takeoffs and landings, and his intention was to only be taking a 20-30 min flight and head back as a sort of long range test.
Oh my!

Really? How big of you troll...
the reason every new title isnt is more to do with licensing. There are different fees for streaming and DVD rentals.
as pointed out above, unless you explicitly went to the site to download 4 beta, you did not get updated it. Its pretty clear these are legit downloads from people who WANTED to download the beta.
