The "answer" the show is pushing is "America is awesome, terrorism is not awesome"
Political views aside i think ANYONE with half a brain can see that EVERY show/movie/game pushes some point on its viewers. Its whether you agree with it or not that sparks these discussions.

First, most people live in a major metropolitan area. Also if people spent the money they currently spend on petrol on buses then your little piece of suburban bliss would have a bus route.
If you live in the country and own a farm or whatever then you SHOULD own a car, also a tractor and all those other gas consuming machines that farming needs. NOONE ever said you shouldn't! Know why? cause farmers grow CROPS. Those magical types of plant that we can not only eat but while growing turn CO2 into O2!
Second, a family with 4 kids can have an SUV. The problem is that most SUV/4x4 owners don't have 4 kids. It has always made me laugh that people actually go out and buy a vehicle that: 1) looks lame 2) accelerates much slower than a car and 3) is MUCH more likely to be involved in a fatal accident due to bad design. (maybe people should read the crash tests before buying a vehicle, just a thought)
In conclusion, no one is attacking you for using petrol. They are talking about OVER using it, there is a difference

  16. Black hole reproduction on The Trouble with Physics · · Score: 1

His black hole reproduction theory is something i have been thinking about for a while. (and here i was thinking i was original)
    My idea was:
Black holes constantly grow. As the mass grows the gravitational force eventually reaches a point where it exerts enough force at the center of itself to open a hole in space (wormhole) at the center of the mass.
Since the density on the other side of this hole (probably a big empty bit of nothingness) is so much less than the density inside the black hole, the matter is thrown through the hole with the force of the Big Bang.
This fulfills all the requirements for a "Big Bang" that i am aware of (limited knowledge of theoretical physics). Matter of all types, Large energy release, All matter comes from a tiny point etc
Like i said i have been thinking about this for a while and was considering talking with some of my prof's about it (physics/IT student)

BUT i wont post it because i had an idea, what if you replaced those turbines with FANS!
Now before you laugh i know that fans would use up some of the power you are generating BUT it would greatly increase the thermal exchange in your air heat exchange. This would increase the power generated by the "steam" engine and increase the speed at which you can generate power.
I KNOW this will decrease efficiency, BUT its not like your going to use up all that heat anyway ;P
