It would be much more useful if it adds a short caption/title under the images instead of just the name of the source. I think it is quite good for slashdotters, as most of us don't RTFA. Now we can simply RTFP.
"The best examples of RPG improvements are seen in Freedom Force and Star Wars: KOTOR. In both of these games, if one of your party members reaches zero health, he is just knocked out of the fight, not killed outright."
This guy must be living in a cave. It has been like that ever since the first RPG I played (Dragon Warrior I).
RPGs are fun because they integrate many great elements, yes you can read a book with a better story, but you won't get any interactivity. You can find better strategy games, but you won't get as good a story. Get it?
If you don't update your website frequently, the visitors won't go back for re-visit. It is not like they'll check the site everyday even though it is static 99% of the time.
"So, actually the STANDARD to which we judge websites have gone up; a lot - and to make your site look comparable to all the others that have millions invested into them is a herculian task."
Thanks and I'm glad you bring that up. Yes it takes a lot of work to make a website comparable to the others. I think it really depends on the intended audience, if the personal web site is to be viewed by friends and family only, perhaps you need not care whether it is comparable to the other web sites.
On the other hand we will see more popup/pop-under/flash ads everywhere, and spam pretending to be articles, advertisements pretending to be reviews. I am not sure which is better.
"now, if you would just look at the mountains of shit you'd have to sift through to make a site (try webmonkey.com), it's unreal!"
Who says you have to learn all those to make a respectable site? Simple HTML-based webpages can be good looking and effective. In fact I hate those websites with Flash, animated gif, and background music.
It takes a creative mind and sense of good design in order to create a good website, not stupid tricks.
"-When neo is talking to the oracle, she puts on a bracelet, the camera switches to neo, then back to the oracle and she starts putting on the bracelet again."
I think it is the API that matters. No matter which CPU the XBox uses, the OS will be Windows based (Windows CE). So it will be very similar to the WIN32 API and I believe it uses DirectX too. That provides portability between PC and XBox.
Most well-known trademarks have a very simple design. Nike's logo is simple, unique, easy to remember and recognize. By the way it fits its "Just Do It" slogan perfectly. The mozilla lizard and Linux penguin don't have the same advantages as the Nike logo. Think about Apple, MSN (Butterfly), and even the original Netscape icon... they are much more fit as trademarks.
Why can't I say it is fun? I have played it and I was addicted to the game for a few weeks. Who says the story had to be created that way? I know Wario is not an important character, but still I would like to see more plesant stuff in a video game.
While the Treo 600 is significantly smaller than the previous models, I don't understand Handspring's decision to include a built-in camera in this unit. Why doesn't it just remove the camera and make it smaller? A 0.1 megapixel camera isn't much useful anyway.
"...you gotta admire Capcom's ability to create ever-more-ridiculous Street Fighter names (although personally, my favorite is still Street Fighter EX 2 + Alpha)."
In Japan it is even worst, because the "Alpha" series is called the "Zero" series. For example the "Street Fighter Zero 3 Upper".
FF7 was so highly rated at that time because of the following reasons: - Its graphics was way ahead of all other RPGs at that time. It took years for someone else to match that level. - Its music was great, and it was a huge step from 16-bit consoles. - It kept the great RPG elements and didn't try too hard to add new stuff. FF8 tried too hard by eliminating magic points, level ups, weapons, money etc, and it failed. FF7 simply feels like a great classic with a new face.
It is probably not the best RPG of all time, but it was the best RPG at that time. And I still love it.
DDR is not overrated. Here in Hong Kong this game was a big hit. I got addicted to this game too and lost some body weight because of it. If it didn't get popular in your place, it was probably a cultural thing.

and no one forces you to look at them, just don't click if you don't care.
Why would anyone want to buy this? Any desktop PC can become a powerful, programmable game console that runs just about every emulator out there.
Don't worry, we can always use human batteries!
Deja Vu, you saw the glitch in the Matrix!
but... there is no spoon! And which candy are you talking about? The red one or the blue one?

... and you expect them to WTFM?
I guess I missed the original original Netscape icon (pre-version 3.0). Thanks for pointing it out.

Wario Ware is fun, but I don't like the ugly characters. I think it would be more interesting with Mario and other cute characters.

Unfortunately, no one can be told what The Matrix is... you have to see it for youself!

I thought that guy abandoned science long ago. He is after marketing and design now.

On a 8-bit machine, Dragon Quest was the king of all RPG. And DQ III was the best one in my opinion.
