Future mobile phones will have privacy modes. The least intrusive mode would be text-based SMS. While the "full" mode would make use of all 5 senses.
I personally would use SMS and voice mail most often, even when phones develop to be very advanced. I think video phones are already too annoying to myself and others, I wouldn't want anything worse.

It doesn't make your data 100% secure, but it is the bottom line action you must take. By the way, it is a good idea to disable any services that you don't need.
I don't think any reader of Slashdot or Linux Insider needs to read this article. It should be posted on BusinessWeek or some non-technical magazine instead.
"But it also suggests that with enough proxies the goverment couldn't block them all."
Then the government will simply block everything and allows access to "approved" website.
The worst problem is the Chinese government heavily brainwash its people with controlled media etc, so most Chinese people don't believe in any information from the outside world.
I'm glad Hong Kong still has uncensored Internet access, for now.
"These requirements include modularity, multi-tasking, memory protection, robust security and state-of-the-art multimedia capabilities. "
After so many years Palm finally built a modern OS, with obvious assitance from Be OS. However I see no mention of the filesystem? Will Palm OS 6 finally get a true filesystem instead of the frustrating VFS?
"They want to take the book with them (and not everyone has a laptop), they want to read it on the toilet, they think it's uncomfortable reading long texts from screen"
I can keep many eBooks in my PDA and take the PDA with me anywhere. I can adjust the color/contrast/font on screen screen to make the text comfortable to read. I don't see a problem there.
PS2 has been launched in Hong Kong for a very long time already, and mod chips are widely available too. If SONY insists not to launch PS2 in mainland China, people will simply buy them from Hong Kong. There is privacy problem in Hong Kong too, just not as terrible as in the mainland.
Tokyo Japan, December 18th, 2003 - Sony Corporation today announced the development of dramatically enhanced motion of Sony's humanoid robot, enabling integrated motion control for walking, jumping and running. By applying this technology to QRIO, which is one of Sony's technology platforms, Sony has successfully created the world's first* running humanoid robot. (* As of Dec. 18th, 2003, based on Sony's investigation, as an autonomous robot with internalized control system and power supply system)
In order to achieve stable motion control for conventional humanoid robots, either one or both feet needed to be touching the floor and, from the opposing force produced by the contact with either of the feet, motion such as walking was controlled. This is the control theory based on the so called ZMP (Zero Moment Point) stable range and forms the foundation of robot motion control.
The new 'walking, jumping, running movement control' technology which Sony has developed this time accomplishes motion involving both feet losing contact with the floor at the same time, which means it is a motion control technology enabling stable running and jumping. The seamless addition of motion control based on this new technology enabling running and jumping, has lead to the development of a robot having outstanding motion capabilities.
Furthermore, together with this new control technology, in addition to powering-up and enhancing the output torque of Sony's original and unique robot actuator, ISA (Intelligent Servo Actuator), a new hardware unit suitable for the running feature has been developed. By implementing this newly developed ISA in QRIO and optimizing the new control system, Sony has successfully created the world's first running feature for a humanoid robot.
Sony will continue to utilize the QRIO platform for various technological advances, leading to outstanding entertainment robots highly suited to the co-existence with humans and to the development of various technologies which can be applied to other Sony products. In addition, QRIO is Sony Group's Corporate Ambassador;in fulfilling this role, QRIO will take advantage of various opportunities around the world to communicate Sony's vision of a world of dreams, entertainment and curiosity as well as introducing the technology that makes this vision a reality.
Yeah when we have the technology to create some Terminators. With the current technology level, I guess it is easier to make some dummy robot soldiers first.
better yet... make these robots pretend to be real soldiers, attract the enemy's to shot them. This way the enemies could be located more easily without causing human life.
Just buy a cheap PDA, either Palm or Pocket PC, and install dictionary software on it. For Palm you can get the shareware KDIC. It gives you more flexibility and choices than a dedicated dictionary.
IMHO the best feature of Secret of Mana on SNES is its multi-player mode. I played with 2 other friends for days and we tried to solve the puzzles together. I guess it is not as easy to do so on the GBA.

Is there any legal issue with this? As I remember Apple always threatens those who reproduce the Mac OS user interface. Would Microsoft do the same?
Canon will make even more expensive top-of-the-line camera lenses! As if the current L-glass lenses aren't expensive enough.

... down the rabbit hole!
What if you are a guy but you play as a gal in the Sims? Or the other way around?
So are we ready to fight the sentinels yet?
What? Are you saying the resources out there are insecure now? By the way you don't need to send people there in order to take the resources.

I was going to say "piracy" but I typed "privacy", sorry about the typo.

I would love to see the Mozilla team to work towards the 1.0 version of Firebird first. Please set the priority straight.

Don't forget AIM and ICQ are owned by the same company.
Consoles are capable of running great FPS and RTS, just that the developers must take care of the joystick-based user interface.
I wonder what makes you think that. It takes some incredible effort to create a modern video game, and you think the developers will do it for free?

The default preferences assume that you want to receive spam. But I'm not complaining, because it is a free service.
I saw that in Matrix Reloaded!
