You remind me of the South Park episodes "Go God Go" and "Go God Go II", where they are not at war with eachother over which religion is correct, but agree on the religion, and are at war over what to call the religion, saying "your way of thinking is not logical".
It's not just about Games. Dual cores don't need a program designed for multithreading for them to shine. If you are a multi-tasker... most people are, then you will see the benefits. I ofter have 10+ windows open at a time, and dual core benefits here. Just like Intel's hyperthreading helps with multi-tasking, dual core helps even more so.
While I agree that the corporate jargon is excessive, imo, the vision statement is a bad example of such. Everyone needs a vision. Without one, you go nowhere. I just think sometimes they overdo it and lose sight of the simple goals or visions. They make it so complicated that you can't understand it. But you still need vision...
For those who didn't catch that, let me repeat it: in my experience, it's much easier to configure printers (particular network servers) in KDE than it is in Windows.
Agreed. I always thought it was hilarious in Windows that, if I want to add a "network" printer by it's IP address, I have to click "add a 'local' printer" and then "create new tcp/ip port". It's just as bad as clicking start to shut down your computer, where is the logic here?
Nintendo has been doing it right for a decade and half, why should we think the PSP can just waltz onto the scene and take over?
Speak for yourself. Nintendo's whole "more power doesn't make it more fun" is being taken way to seriously in my opinion. I don't know a guy out there with some real balls who doesn't like a nice 1920X1200 screen resolution with a 60FPS framerate.
Bah, french. Good for... something but barely anything. I have some in me so I don't mind dissing them. I'm sure this guy is going to have a phat celebration party.
they have cultures and histories longer and deeper than that of western europe and certainly north america.
Two points: 1) North America has just as long history as any other part of the world. The earth was created all at the same time. 2) Current Americans might not have inhabitted North America as long ago as Chinese inhabited China, but the people inhabiting North America have just as much history as anyone else does. We just didn't all originate from North America. We come from China, India, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Africa, and some, right here in North America.
the average/. reader won't touch that with a bargepole
I think a lot of/. readers work for companies that have, unfortunately, chosed IE as their standard browser. I'll touch anything with a bargepole, almost. I'll just be sure I'm not risking anything before I do it.
Yesterday at my work I received an extra monitor (17 inch flat, to go with my 17 inch LCD), a Matrox G450 card so I can use dual display, 256MB of additional RAM, an ergo KB, and a port replicator for my laptop. Then I went home and there was another new KB waiting for me (really late Christmas present). Yesterday was a good day.
Good point, there's not much you can do to render Windows Update.
How about an alternative page that scans a user's computer for security patches like Windows Update but is compatible with FireFox, so users don't have to search for an manually install each patch they might need. Automatic Updates are nice, but not everyone uses them and sometimes people wonder whether they are really up to date or not even if they are using automatic updates.
That's a good point, but don't forget that one of the reasons that Microsoft is so big is not due to the quality of their product, but the marketing that made it so profitable in the first place. After it was profitable, they brought in engineers to make it better, but to start out it was the master marketing that made them big. That's not to say that the search engine wars will be the same, but sadly, marketing should not be underestimated...
It's not a matter of whether you or I who are fully capable of finding what we need are able to workaround Firefox not working with Windows Update, it's a matter of whether "Cletus" from the sticks of Mississippi can figure it out. I'd like to see Firefox blow IE away, and I think the only way it's going to is if it shows the same as and better compatibility that IE shows.

It will hide results from this search tool, despite showing up fine in IE:

Anything with ActiveX or VBSCRIPT (not such a bad thing, but people will still complain about it)
Windows Update - A very important site for any Windows user (not firefoxes fault, but this is still a disadvantage to illiterate users)
Sites with the Invision Powerboard have been noted to display threads with lots of posts incorrectly.
Some of these are no big deal, and there are just as many sites that IE displays incorrectly, but it will still be an advantage for IE if firefox displays the same site incorrectly, because people are switching FROM IE, not from firefox.
I'd like to see more websites displayed properly in the next releases. As much as I like Firefox, it's not my favorite when it hoses up the look/feel of a website. Even if the problems are due to the author and not the browser, end users don't care and they know IE displays it better and think of IE as a better browser. I'd like to see firefox deal with these issues in the same way so more end users switch to firefox.

In Soviet Russia, India recruits you!
Yeah it's old but I still laugh.
Don't you hate pants?
Yes, I will keep my bushes.
Who in their right mind wants OS/2. I've been trying to get rid of it in my company for years.

There goes my appetite for the rest of the week...

Well, it could go around the world infinant times so long as there was enough oxygen... just orbit the earth...

Also FYI (37,000 km) / (67 hours) = 343.145285 mph
Why hasn't time been changed to the metric system? Is it cause the earth doesn't rotate at a rate divisible by ten?
They will likely keep it really simple and have all the processing happen at Google. Your OS will just display the information that came from Google.

Well, looks like they spelled it wrong then... heh
I don't see pr0n on there as one of the examples of 'illegal activities' or 'other common l33t words'.
