    In fact I bet you can't name one that does. The reason Multicast DOESN'T WORK and NEVER WILL WORK!

    Certain levels of pretend multicast may eventually filter into public use but that will be long after all privacy is gone from the internet.

    Once we free information we will be free to organize it, right now we are forced to buy preorganized information, not the best system.

    The thing about this is the power requirements to broadcast must be enormous!

    I have a usb wifi from Linksys and it overheats and stops working after about 2 hours of bittorrent.

    I'm currently looking for a pocketPc capable of running Skype with good wifi (b is alright) but of course WiMax is theoretically better. If they get this technology right then there will be no more cell phones, ever.

    I don't think I'm going to wait for wimax though... Being constantly interupted doesn't sound like my cup of tea so 30ft isn't the end of the world.

    Hope WiMax doesn't overheat things though that really sucks.

    Also my English teacher (read tree hugger) mentioned that you get a headache when you are in one building since it got a cell antena on top. It is noticeable.

    Maybe this isn't the safest technology to base future societies around :(

    I can't handle using linux for long because no games, and then hell why reboot when cygwin is just a win-key-R + command away?

    It would be nice for game companiese to see how sucessful a game is before doing a full development cycle on it but guess what if the customers start to figure out you are just going to SCREW them I don't think it will catch on.

    This is kind of interesting because Shatner grew up in Montreal Canada. Guess they are Americanizing it, sigh. Well I suppose they need to have some reality shows showing the horror of small town America but it would be much more interesting for City folk if they were showing Montreal. I've been there twice and everyone agree's it's a rather interesting city.

    The issue of whether George W. is handling environmental concerns is totally unrelated to this.

    This has to do mainly with arguements coming from some people that we really aren't in control of the environment to the point where we are causing this kind of problem.

    You don't pass phoney money through change machines, you pass it to someone without a scanner who is in a rush. Then you return the product for the cash.

    Actually this stuff usually get's distributed through regular drug channels, they sell it for about 12c to 24c on the dollar (which shows you the ease and risks asociated with it, this stuff is a lot easier to examine markup on than drugs :)).

    There was an article about a Canadian pro... And Canadian money is much more difficult to forge than American money.

    The reason for the security precautions has nothing to do with the criminal becoming rich or devaluing the currency.

    There is several times more American cash floating around in other countries than in the states themselves.

    This money will almost certainly never come back to the states so it functions as a loan the government never has to pay back, every time you tear up a bill the government makes money, scary thought... no wonder they are pushing the stuff down our throats... "no, no barter is wrong!"

    To hide price hikes I guess they have been raising cartridge costs.

    Well I guess if they can spend $ to make a printer that DOESN'T PRINT maybe they could SPEND SOME MONEY ON ONE THAT FUCKING DOES.

    So I shall answer you with Due respect.... Stuff.

    If you are not new to slashdot then you probably have all the facts you need to understand my post maybe just take some time to let it soak in.

    Second this post is interesting, not enlightening (which is my most common modifier (Thank you slashdot mods!) so um, it's just information people didn't have organized in a useful way before. So um look up the individual facts (guestimates),and words? (dictionary.com) and you'll be enlightened too :)

    Pity for the producers.

    Not for being profiteering bastards, not for losing profits (What am I a moron?). No but for the fact that mp3 took off and it's NOT an open codec, Sony doesn't want to include it because if they do then it will be THE codec FOREVER.

    And those nutbars at Fraunhaufer will be laughing their heads off.

    Sony is part of the consortium that owns the patent on DVD ($1 per dvd player and a tiny fraction of each blank disk) which is increadibly lucrative, they also have their fingers in the next gen Blu-Ray pie.

    But I still feel sorry when someone has to pay money so that others may share for free, hats off to Sony! May this journey to the dark side of copywrite law leave you enlightened.
