It's the poster and all the others on slashdot who seem to think that someone can express an unbiased opinion.
I rarely say "Well I think..." you know why because it's implied that what I say is an oppinion held by me.
EVERY statement should be taken in context, especially if you think it might be a "Cold hard fact." which will lead you to other conclusions or to re-examine prior beliefs.
Please stop saying, "I think..." and maybe people will start to figure out... it's implicit.
Having been to Asia I am no longer worried by this prospect.
First off the asian (techies) think of IP laws as just another aspect of colonialism.
Paying white males to think and write and direct movies while others have to work.
Respect for IP here is 0.
They are very well organized, in fact I think you would find that most vietnamese, chinese, koreans and thai's have 10x as many DVD/VCD/CD's as the average north american.
They spend money on reverse engineering rather than engineering, about 40% of watches here are quite passable rollex imitations, (My omega imitation is working fine as are my oakly imitations and my Levi's Belt imitation thank you very much all for By stifling intellectual freedom we are hurting ourselves so badly we may never recover.
In cambodia near tourist attractions children of 7-8 know 3-7 languages which they learned from(sometimes indirectly), you guessed it.
It disapoints me that instead of organizing information to solve problems like education, government transparency, and cultural expression we are fighting to hide everything.
My mother is a big wheel on the windmill project (3 HUGE $6,000,000 windmills each to power 100 homes)... the thing is the government mucked around so much with subsidies that is is kind of questionable...
Basically if they bought power from the government and then sold it back to them they could make infinite money...
Buying for more than what you sell it for doesn't make much sense even if it's ecco friendly.
A sailboat has a keel which forces into almost linear motion thanks to the pressure of the water resisting the wind. In space no water so if you turned the sail 45 degrees to the wind you would still move the same direction but with a speed reduced by the decrease in surface area.... You cannot use momentum to turn in space...
Gaming performance on processors has been increasing increadibly slowly.
Trying to sell processors to high end gamers may start becomming an uphill battle. a 2500+ is still pretty much all you need, (Though I'd buy a 939 a64 if I was purchasing) and when the money can go towards a x800pro you can see that even the low end gamer crowd (Yes you can build a gaming rig for $500) will be looking at you dubiously.
There have been numerous benchmarks showing that though upgrading to 64 operating systems shows serious performance enhancements upgrading the programs does the opposite.
Now ask yourself why you would want to do that when 64 bit only processors aren't on the horizon yet?
Well the Xbox also has some pretty impressive media functionality, especially when modded. The only thing it lacks is pvr.
Also I think the desk issue is critical, that and pc gaming is designed to offer a plethora of options, trying to remove them is ridiculous.
I admit the upgrade cycle is a complete pain in the ass and even has me down right now. But there really hasn't been any significant hardware increases in cpu needs or vpu features in the last 6-8 months.
Games like HL2 are offering definite support for directX7 hardware (8500 anyone?)
This could definitly catch on as a way to get around the budgets needed from big publishers and a chance for grassroots gaming (read mod communities) to really get moving.
Of course they do. Any position has arguments that can be used against it.
It is a complete waste of time to try and debate both sides, If you think that there is only one side to any argument then you are either increadibly dense or megalomaniacly inclined.
There is a lot of footage from America's nuclear testing available around the net.
Some of it is used for propaganda purposes but it's a good watch. It's full of scary stuff.
Anyway do a quick look or try p2p for some of the footage.

Here's an idea why don't we send the money TO each other? Sending it to a company seems a rather silly thing to do and if we send it to one another all we need is a bank account number to tie it to. Hmmmm, #3 profit.

One group who could actually make a diffrence is the artists.
For a long time the only way for them to make money has been through contracts with soul stealing capabilities, one would expect them to jump on this alternative.
Course then you have the beasty boys thing and you wonder if they even give a f*#C. (Swearing was called for, in this case).

See we are well past that point.
The sad thing is that companies are able to get rights and file lawsuits when it's "possible" their rights are being infringed while the people of America who's rights "Are" being infringed are too disorganized to do anything about it.
You don't need to put yourself in the role and acheive victory. Any involment with Video Games and American economic policy would be censored. Simple.
American's don't understand that their system of covernment has at it's base the government controlling what private corperations are supposed to do. So when McD cuts down a rainforest YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE.
And when you release a video game depicting violence against a nation based on their communism well you're votes did that too.
Unless someone uses PAL or Beta....
Wait what was your point?
I thought it was America's poor electrical infrastructure.. but cough... could be the whole common sense thing.
What bugs me isn't the actions of the MPAA
Or the stastic fabricators.

Dude humans are the cheapest machines/work force available. Hell they build themselves to the point where some die cuz there is no food.
Ignorant american's are a dime a dozen.
(Well $.50 an hour if you are the army but I think they are just trying to be generous)
Please stop buying our water, Oil, Nuclear Reactors and Electricity.
Thank you.
Continue buying our music, movies, grains, beef and lumber as normal.

Pathetic.
Hey got any more dreamcasts? Mine broke :(
But I have 400 pirate games...
Hmm maybe that's why it went under?

Just 2cents.
No they don't...
You can use violence to get people to do things.
You can use money to get people to do things.
Money=Violence=co-ercion simple. I find the money approach much easier.

While in Japan I got a chance to play this.
Graphics are kinda weak though I may just be biased against cell shading.
Physics are pretty impressive and there is less slowdown than one would expect given the technical nature of the game.
I found it pretty dull after a while though, there simply weren't enough hazards in the areas I got a chance to explore.
Beside it was an interesting game where students battle supported by adults... that game is tonnes of fun and probably worth picking up.

I totally agree that texture is more needed in todays music.
Some counter examples though,
Tool, God Speed You! Black Emporer, In the House, In a Heartbeat.
