I think it doesn't matter. Just do the right thing and don't think too hard about it! Some people are even of the opinion that all altruistic behavior is ultimately selfish because even if you don't expect a reward in Heaven, you must be acting altruistically so that you can feel good about yourself. In either case, using verbal acrobatics, your good deeds can be called selfish. Don't worry about it!
Why I agree with you that the Democrats are doing something wrong. It seems that they can only criticise the Republicans, but they offer no alternative to Republican policy, so they just work to stop Republican policy. Maybe it's better that way; as they say, when Democrats and Republicans in Congress agree on something, the American people get screwed.
I live in Hawai'i. Just the other day, I heard a campaign advertisement for Ed Case, who is leaving his seat in the House of Representatives to challenge Daniel Akaka for his seat in the Senate. He didn't say a single word about what kind of policy he would advocate in the Senate. He simply had a voice mentioning publications that said that Daniel Akaka is "one of our least influencial senators." Please give me a break; can I please vote for someone who promises real leadership instead of just trashing their opponents. BTW Akaka and Case are both Democrats.
Why, yes, there are "puddle jumper" airlines in other areas. In Hawaii, we have "Island Air" and "Mokulele." I've flown on Island Air and they fly prop-planes. They're very nice prop-planes too. They seem to make the journey almost as fast as the jets do in some cases.
First of all, in response to all those here who say, just pay back the loan so that it doesn't acrue interest, I believe that in many cases student loans accrue no interest until graduation.
Tom Gardner recommends in "What to do with Your Money Now" that you do not invest in the stock market unless you do not anticipate taking the money out for at least five years due to the short-term volatility of the stock market. He also explains that many, many mutual funds are very bad deals because of the fees charged for the investment.
It looks like CDs or money-market funds might be best for you. I don't understand the exact nature of how a money-market fund works, but your money is much safer there in the short run than in a stock-market fund. With a CD, you loan money to a bank, but you commit to allowing the bank to keeping the money for a given period of time. Typically, the longer you let them keep your money, the higher the interest rate they pay you on it.
I tried about 8 semesters of Japanese and a dictionary at my side the whole time. Here's the kicker: The game gets progressively harder as you progress, and the class system is similiar to FF5. The thing is, once you enter the last dungeon, which I will not spoil for you here since you intend to get the DS version, there are no save points and you cannot leave. Imagine FF8 being that there were no save points inside Ultimecia's castle. It takes several hours to get from the last save point to the end of the game and lots of places to die along the way.
I think it's likely to change in the DS version, and if it does, remember what I told you about the original version. I only reached the final fight one time. I got so fed up with the thing that I deleted my saved game to avoid more frustration and wasted time.
2) ROTHs you pay NO TAXES on. This is unlikely to change.
I've given some thought to this one. I'm 22 now, and thinking about starting a ROTH IRA this year with $1000. That would certainly not be the only contribution, but one of many.
Now suppose fifty years from now, I've made many contributions to my ROTH IRA and grown it to millions by saving and investing wisely. I'm ready to retire now and withdraw all that money tax-free. Suppose my neighbors have spent their lives blowing their money away on crap and owe thousands on credit cards. They are facing the prospect of retiring on social security alone, if even that exists at this point. They complain loudly, "I've worked hard all my life and have nothing, but my evil rich asshole neighbor is retiring on millions. It isn't fair! The stupid ROTH IRA plan is a tax-giveaway for the rich."
What will the politicians, looking for the votes of credit card slaves, going to say to that?
By the way, fifty years from now, the value of a single $1000 contribution is as follows, depending on the return on investment.
Having read over this, I want to learn more about exactly what's going on. I agree that it looks a bit like 1999 all over again. However, I only recently began following business and investing (small) money.
I think this looks like a potential short opportunity, but it would be nice to be able to use derivatives to cover my ass. As you were probably reminded when you signed up for a brokerage account, there is the potential for unlimited loss with any short sale.
What determines when derivatives become available, if they become available at all?
I guess he wasn't ready for that. The next question should have been, "Are you wearing any underwear?"
Yeah, just ask Newt "wither on the vine" Gingrich about that one!
Let's talk with Ted Kennedy about that one... Oh yeah, please stop re-electing him. It would have the same effect as term limits.
Can someone here afford a few hundred bucks from this scientist to replace his old computer with CGA video and monitor?
The TIMECUBE.
Japan has 500 yen coins, worth about $4.50, so ~ $5 coins are not unheard of.
Did you mean Sandy Burglar?

I just hope I don't wake up one day and see that the new boss is the same as the old boss.
Which report? Link, please? Did you mean one of the stories referenced by the summary?

Last I checked, they cost a lot more that $20K. BTW, at that price point, what are the maintenance costs and how does it hold it's value.
Oh wow, how long did you save your money to buy your ticket to ride that train???
Circuit City DiVX
How could they forget???
Yeah, but only if you don't expect your stocks to perform well!!!

0% = $1000

15% = $1,083,657
20% = $9,100,438

Source please! If he actually said that, I want to know!
