Excuse me waiter! I'd like some of the crack the parent is smoking!
Who is "Nilly Vanilly?" Maybe you were thinking of Milli Vanilli - who was actually 2 MEN and were NEVER best selling vocalists. And besides that, they didn't actually sing their own songs anyway. Wow...
No, he's not referring to iTunes. He was referring to a number of other HP products, including their TabletPC's, their Media Center PC's, and their successful iPAQ's. You'd have to download iTunes on each additional device to play the songs, and they wouldn't even be available on the iPAQ. That's the descrepancy that HP is not recognizing.
Despite the some 70% of those who purchase music online use iTunes, Windows Media is still a much bigger world.
Also, the reindeer in The Santa Clause used that sound. I rewound the movie and watched that part like 10 times. Made me wonder if the director was a FPS guy... Now I know!
Got the joke. Sorry,/. form jokes are only funny the first 100 times anyway. I was simply applying the automotive example you started in a more realistic way.
And in still other news, Chevrolet is filing suit against new auto maker "Levrolet"...
I mean, come on people. For a community that prides itself on free software, why is/. up in arms about Lindows, a company that is trying to make money off of a slight derivative of the Windows name? Smells like s double standard to me...
Come on people, this isn't FUD. This was Lindows simply cashing in on the Windows name. The entire reason they chose that name is because it's only one letter away from the MS variant. This isn't about MS "FUD," this is about Lindows trying to water down MS's trademark. And before people start bitching about "Windows" being such a common word, remember that no one complains about Sun...
don't even try to say that Win2k is more complex than Linux. if i had to dig up and edit obscure text files (XFree86.config) on a brand new Red Hat 8 installation (a "user-friendly" distro) just to get the video card (GeForce4) to work at all, then Linux is a far cry from simple.
while the Matrix throws in lots of bits and pieces of religion and philosophy, in the end it's really just an action flick. the special effects and fighting are really what draw people to see the Matrix movies. on top of that, the acting in the series is so bland. well-suited to the movie, but trust me that no Matrix actor stayed up late worrying how to deliver their lines...
the LOTR trilogy on the other hand, doesn't pretend to throw in anything like the Matrix's pop philosophy. it makes no bones about being just a fantasy story, but one that tells its story with a kind of infectious joy that the Matrix doesn't have. no matter what happens in the LOTR, you always know the good guys are going to make it in the end, cause that's how that world works - it's pure storytelling for the sake of storytelling, and much more enjoyable because of it.
there's a reason why there's an extended edition -- unlike the previously cut footage in other movies, the new stuff in the LOTR movies add real scenes with real purpose. the reason they were cut in the first place was to keep the length of the movie down. after all, who's gonna sit through a 4-hour movie in the theater?
i saw the extra hour or so added back into FOTR, and i was very impressed. it really fleshed out certain parts of the movie.
i can tell you're not a real LOTR fan. oh yeah, and for whiners like you, the movie was released in its original format months ago
my brother broke his leg pretty bad a few months ago, and the day they pulled his catheter out, he had a penis fart too! i was in the room and even heard it - it was pretty weird. but what do you call it? a man-queef?
Maybe for the average nerd, virtual desktops are handy. But for the average computer user, putting a virtual desktop in front of them will just confuse the hell out of them. Seriously, some people have problems with the concept of one desktop anyway.
Personally, i'm a big Alt-Tab fan. I find it faster than switching desktops.
Smokey, This is not 'Nam. This is slashdot. There are rules!
that is pure and utter nonsense. a big thank you to the insurance companies for spreading lies!

yeah, i'm sure MS is paranoid about Apple's daunting 2.5% market share in the UK.
Yes, but it's a sense of humor that you really need...
gotta disagree...

doubtful. as i understand from the faq, the virus needs to be injected directly into the tumor.
yes, because they're still a US business.
now, if some Indian/Chinese company starts trying to sell over the phone, that's when it'll get messy

Informative? As in, as informative as actually reading the article?
since when do id and Quake 3 have anything to do with Valve, as per your 5th link?
wow, this was supposed to be under the Half Life 2 delayed article. WTF?
I won't look at the code, I swear! Just send me the game for Christmas!
great shirts, but i'm holding out for the goatse.cx one!

if it's taking 20 minutes to copy a 17 MB file, then it's not slow, it's broken. you know, how Win98 breaks too?
