I am amazed that no one has mentioned the wheel, or the written langauge.
I mean if you really want to answer this question, just open up civ3 or a similar game.:P
Better idea. Give anonymous ftp access only to a readme with a user agreement and a limited account that has a password. If the BSA manages to spider the password out of the agreement file, then they will have violated the allowed use of the site.
I am wondering what the/. reaction would be if Linus found a way to obtain a patent for the linux kernel. Would he suddenly be viewed as an equal to Bill? Or would he be praised since after all, it was an innovative invention and he deserves to be rewarded.
I'm basically pointing out that there are too many fanatical lemmings out there.
On that note, I think I would have to tell myself "learn the difference between a link's text and it's target and for the love of god!! Beware links from Alex!!"
When it comes to configuring the desktop, I personally believe that give as many options as you like so long as they can be locked by an admin. Nothing worse that having too many features on a public access machine. I find that most people use the defaults, except for changing the background.
I think this would be grounds for another anti-trust suit against microsoft if that were the case. Possibly even a minor boycott of any manufacturer that would make a single OS board.
I wonder if Microsoft will end up using this on the next installment of the Xbox to prevent the hardware from running linux.
I am an adminsitrator at a public library and was told to remove all records and log files that contained information about our patrons. The library's board of trustees chose this even though it could cost them government money.
I bet those smart enough to look for unsecured wireless connections will be safe from the prying eyes. I guess the owner of the AP will learn about wireless security the hard way.
With your reasoning, I should be able to wander into your house and take anything that doesn't say "do not take". For the sake of science, I should be able to break into your computers because my life and work are focused around computer security, after all it is purely research.
Tin foil may not do the trick...try really strong magnets. :)
If the price drop is true, then I would be inclined to bastardize a console with a full blown OS.

I'm Manfre and I'm an alcoholic! Sorry, wrong meeting.
The way that the patent is worded includes any graphical application with a toolbar that is loaded based upon a config file.
I can't wait for them to try this on Microsoft or any of the large companies.
