I worked in security in the health care system for a short time and there was a ton of resistance to any security solutions we tried to implement. Some of it was that the medical staff felt it was impeding their ability to do their jobs, but it mostly seemed like they didn't like change.
I had been getting computer advise from someone who I thought was a fat, balding, middle-aged dude working from his moms basement, wearing a Yoda t-shirt and eating hot pockets. It turns out this person was really a ho, horny supermodel who was cruising the internet to find victims to satisfy her lusts and to spend her millions of dollars. You never get over that kind of betrayal
Those who would trade freedom for security deserve neither

This debate when schools are not even able to effectively teach basic skills such as math and reading. Most kids will graduate without any real grasp on history, geography or science and their lives will not be really affected by which way they believe Man got to his present state.
Fascinating comment. Slashdot greatly benefits from comments like this. They add so much to the discussion. You must live a wonderful and fascinating life!!
emtboy9's writeup is not much of a writeup. It's word for word the first 3 paragraph of the article without giving CNet credit for it. That's kind of a no-no to me.
Linksys WMP11 - no go on the newer models. There may be a way to get this working but you will need a linux guru. I just got a Microsoft MN-510 USB working with help from www.linux-wlan.com and it works great.
One of my favorite things to see in these forums is when some moron tries to market their product in this way and is immediately exposed. The resulting flames directed at the jackass provide some of the most entertaining reading you see on the internet. Makes my day every time.
The interpretation of the Patriot act has been very loosely applied so far, so I guess that is possible. You could argue that the security of operating systems is much more critical than beating up on this jackass. I would hope that the internet community and software companies get their act together before it comes to that.
...before the government started treating computer crime as a danger to national security. This seems to be a heinous misuse of that power, but in the case of worm and virus creators it was inevitable that they would call in the Patriot Act. With power plant outages and last weeks problems with State Department server infections, should these be treated as real threats to national security?
I will pay out 10 to 1 odds upon end of the universe that it ends in a different fashion they they propose. Please send me any amount of money and if I am wrong I will immediately pay out all winners upon destruction of everything.

Great Jerzey Kosinski book and awesome performance by Peter Sellers in the movie.
I'm sorry, your question isn't clear. I am not sure what your alternative to stupid is. I must be stupid. :-(

Yum seems to need less resources than the RedHat Update network. When installing Fedora on a low end system it makes a lot of difference.
Or something like that. Whats the difference whos #1?
