All they sell in retail stores is basically Compaq/HP (why one would buy one of those is beyond me)and Dell is the number one PC manufacturer. Also as mentioned you have all the "do it yourselfers".
I pre-ordered the game when they still advertised that a Linux and Mac version was going to be included in the main release. I think what they did was unacceptable.
They dangled the proverbial carrot in front of Linux users face to generate more sales. I had a friend who was completely new to Linux install Linux on his machine with the hopes of playing NWN on it. Sadly, the other day I had to instruct him how to get lilo out of his MBR. I know that is not Biowares fault, however, I did not appreciate the false advertising.
Also, I don't see how releasing Linux binaries a year later helps "Linux gaming".
I am with you 100%, however, people tend to like to overly generalize. I have worked in the industry for 10 years now and just started my own company. It is almost like the dingy room DSL line scene painted above:P. We all have to start some where.
I can't count the amount of times customers have thanked me for taking extra time out to explain things to them and actually fix thier problem rather than the {insert big name computer shop here} BS they get fed from the "techs" 2 months out of {insert quickly computer cert school here}.
Sadly, you'll have to buy the windows version anyways, so holding out to support linux gaming doesn't matter.
When I pre-ordered the game they had still claimed on thier website that the linux and mac binaries would be included. Boy was I pissed when I found out they weren't.

It crashed Opera so I didn't get to see the innovation aspect of it :(
That's true! Just like the lap dance I got from Cinnamon the stripper last night... I think she was open source however...

Would a porn site may pass your "bang for the buck" test?
