I love seeing all these arm-chair revolutionists typing behind their monitors, safe and sound. There is a good chance that he did find a good lawyer, and this good lawyer gave him the soundest advice ever: "12,000 is a prize! Take it and run."
There might even be evidence we haven't heard about, that paints a different picture of what exactly this software did. All it takes is one button or one filter in this program that 'helps' find all media files, and suddenly he doesn't have a case. Maybe they had previously emailed him in disguise and got him to say how easy it is to find mp3 files on campus with his search engine...
They haven't been spacing out the charcter'd zip codes evenly thoughout the country though. The metro areas will run out, just like the area codes. And unlike area codes, you can't have a 3G7 B8G next to 8B3 D7A
It's the dumbest idea in the world. Either someone hacks in all the way and gives themselves total control, or they don't. They don't accidentally stumble across just the gravity_variable.
....In fact, as the cheats, etc. came out this would not be shunned, but instead part of the game...
...I'm sure you could develop a program in a way to separate out abilities (such as speed, gravity, damage types) such that any crack wouldn't give up everything else..
Well, a little contradictory on yourself, aren't you?
The name of the game is the hack and cheat to give yourself cool powers. Oooooh, but not these kind of cheats please.
Not bad, I was thinking similarly along the same lines. Basically if there is a "more" real world, then the idea of the whole "machines controlling the humans" no longer needs to be the main story. Anyone could be outside this last shell. With a whole new storyline.
The fact that you switched the roles is really cool.
Give me a break, when that happens it won't be the people who were wearing their plate armor. It'll be the people with the bunkers and a generator playing Mad Max with their 3-eyed green children.
It's illegal for anyone else to use mail boxes. Even mail carriers have to either throw it on the ground, or put up their own (which is why you might see those ugly white mini-boxes on the sides of things.
The post office also receives special conditions from the US government to stay "in business". Anywhere from monetary discounts, funds, taxes, etc, vehicular laws, real estate, and more. Public companies do not get this consideration.
Also, the Post office is moving into other vertical marketplaces. They sell their own boxes, taping supplies, envelopes, phone cards, and more. Due to what I mentioned in the first paragraph... they are able to compete unfairly in these areas too. I don't know how much they have hurt 3M or Scotch, but I'm sure it was a large hit.
The USPS is also allowed to air commercials. BIG commercials. "Fly like an Eagle"? Lance Armstrong? Once they started doing that, they were making it quite clear that they are competing AGAINST UPS, Fedex, and everyone else, and willing to run them out of business to help their own "business".
The first Zion did not need to be created by Neo. It occured from people 'waking up'. Neo, by their standard was very slow in waking up, or chronologically was 'born' later than some of the inhabitants of Zion.
By the time Neo is 'born' each time, there was already a Zion in place by the Morpheus's of the world.
This of course doesn't explain why Neo needs to pick the next 23 to repopulate Zion. It should start on its own. However, maybe the first Zion creation was jump started by the Architect/Oracle.
Morpheus, Zion, etc are all fooled into thinking that they are free and in control. They chide the people that are still "stuck in the matrix" and say those people are not ready to wake up. But in reality they themselves are not ready for the next step. It's like waking from a dream, but still being in a dream.
This would also explain why Agent Smith is able to transfer into the so-called "real world" where Zion is. He's not really, he's able to do so, because it's still data that he's moving, just to another section of the matrix.
The difference here is that you are working at one of your first jobs while going through life, and you will move up. And the people we're talking about are working at their last type of job for the rest of their life.
At the mail room here where I work, I watched the lady whip out a calculator to find out how much change she owed me after I had given her a $20 bill for $18.20 worth of postage.
Instances like that, you'd hope you could rig their calculator to be set in Octal mode.
why not just develop dynamically changing HTML to make them update their screen scraping programs? Fill the source with garbage that doesn't show up in the final screen?
If i brewed my own beer, then I would have to spend ALL my time keeping inventory up. I might even have to hire a few people to keep up with demand.
Now I've moved: Goodbye cable, hello DSL + DirectTV

I'm sure he had a lawyer. There is no way anything would have happened without one.
Man, you are more clueless about programming than my project manager.

Just because you have 6 characters, and some are alpha, doesn't give you nearly enough to get down to the apartment building, eh!
It's the dumbest idea in the world. Either someone hacks in all the way and gives themselves total control, or they don't. They don't accidentally stumble across just the gravity_variable.
Doesn't sound possible to me. Maybe if you wanted to boot from it for some reason. But to be IDE compatible... you can get around it.

Tyler Durden would disagree

Also, lowering prices on something does not = less money necessarily. It could mean more sale totals.
Yea, but obviously our money was good enough for him to take.

It matches our inches, feet, yards, miles, and everything else that isn't metric!
Yea right, if that happened, then inflation would speed up and the nickel would be just like the penny is now.

It's your karma, dude. (And I don't mean slashdot karma)
The corporation will continue to hump the internet like a dog in heat until it becomes as regulated, watered down, and crapped out like the NBC news.
