At least a widget generally has the advantage of scarcity. There's basically no theoretical or practical limit to the number of copies you can make of an idea, especially once you're storing it in a digital format on a computer. I'm sure you can appreciate how something that everyone can have at effectively no cost has exceptionally limited value as a trade commodity.
By paying off the governments of the world to impose a $699/year flat tax on every citizen, to be paid directly to microsoft, for a copy of the current version of windows?
No, this is what happens when you base your economy on the ownership of ideas, and obvious ones at that, and on a ridiculous unlimited growth model that demands a constant push toward monopoly to ensure that unrealistic and otherwise unattainable growth.
Wacom already licenses it's tech to anyone will to pay for it. It's been done in tablet pcs before and I don't see why apple would be any different. If protecting their Cintiq prices were what they were all about you'd think they'd rather partner with apple than a windows pc maker because apple charges more and thus would have less of a competitive advantage over the stationary Cintiq monitors.
I still can't believe people are backing HD-DVD over Bluray because they don't like Sony. Seriously, HD-DVD fanboys think Sony is even half as bad as microsoft? Get the fuck out!
Not sure if PS3 will recover fast enough to make a difference, but it definitely won't hurt. Bluray in the end will win for superior technology. Unless my initial prediction comes true and both fail because they pushed HD too early with technology that could have been better with another year or two.
Not really any of the above. Kind of blah, actually. I'd say overrated because it isn't really adding anything to the discussion. Maybe if they had a significant sample size and any way to back up its credibility. But as it is it's just more noise. The page is also ugly.
So how long until we get a tablet mac? And maybe they could try living up to their billing as the "artist's" computer by actually giving us the features we need? Like maybe a decent resolution and tilt/pressure sensitivity equal to a stand-alone tablet!??!
Yes I know it's a completely different tech and apple doesn't actually care about artists, but it'd be a whole lot more useful than a phone with no tactile feedback that will be even harder to use while driving a car, drinking your coffee, and smoking a cigarette at the same time.
Fantastic still does mean that, you just don't see it in that context as often. But I think you're mischaracterizing a bit when you say it means "great." It means great in the same way as if you say something is "unbelievably good!" It's less a new definition and more hyperbolic slang.
Dude, relax. I fucking HATE ubuntu (ask anyone who knows me), but you're way out of line. First, ubuntu provides wine packages via their apt-get repository (I HATE apt-get too, and even I know that). Second, why the fuck should a Linux distro ship with the ability to run non-native windows apps? All that would do is re-enforce the idea that Linux is somehow a second-rate operating system, which it most certainly is not.
Not really sure how useful that would be. You'd probably be better off starting over from scratch in Maya or Blender if you want a decent rig on Linux. Either of those packages would probably be easier than trying to port anything out of 3ds max, which is a complete mess to begin with.
Invincible ignorance is indistinguishable from stupidity. There is no practical difference in this case because the information doesn't change their opinion. It's like your standard creationist. Sure you could try to argue that they just don't understand the proposition that they're trying to make, or the one that they're rejecting. But then you'd be missing the point that even if they did understand it they wouldn't change their minds.
This is in fact no longer ignorance, but stupidity.
I'll believe it when I see it. I don't even know what this game is, but the idea of paying a subscription fee for content that will be available "as we go along" has got to be the stupidest idea I've ever heard, from a customer point of view. Even paying per addon is better than this, because at least then you'll know what you're getting and when. Though just waiting for the expansion pack is the only real safe bet.
Maybe they'll surprise me and put out regular content updates, but I wouldn't count on it.
So a Hummer is getting -10mpg now?
I already pay that much, and it feels crummy. I fucking HATE comcast! Second only to the assholes who gave them a monopoly on cable.
Wake me up when I can get my eyes shined for a couple packs of Kool menthols.

So yeah, I'll stick with widgets.

Don't forget it's probably decent competition for a TNT2 in 3D games under Linux!
Forget indulging the choice of hobby, a lot of gamers owe their mom first for the 35 years of living in her basement!

Is America the best school? Or is it the worst, but they have a decent sports program?

Don't you mean Microsoft Live! Wheel?
You could use udev to mount your USB drive to /home/[username] under Linux.

Not very since it runs on top of the utter crap that is 3ds max.
It is.
Steam is only available for windows xp and windows vista, moron. But you already knew that, thus the ac post.

This guy if he manages to get a nice VC payout. Other than that I can't imagine how this could possibly have a practical use for anyone.
It's like sharing an idea. Since we're not talking about physical objects that is the correct context to use.
