I'm not sure where you're getting your information. I've spent most of my life in agricultural areas, and virtually every farm I see is owned and run by local farmers. From the EPA:
According to the 2007 Census of Agriculture, the vast majority of farms in this country (87%) are owned and operated by individuals or families. The next largest category of ownership is partnerships (8%). The "Corporate" farms account for only 4% of U.S. farms and 1 percent are owned by other-cooperative, estates or trusts etc. However, the term "family farm" does not necessarily equate with "small farm"; nor does a "corporate farm" necessarily mean a large-scale operation owned and operated by a multi-national corporation. Many of the country's largest agricultural enterprises are family owned. Likewise, many farm families have formed modest-sized corporations to take advantage of legal and accounting benefits of that type of business enterprise.
Expect NASA to announce, in the next few months, that physical requirements for astronauts have now changed. All prospective recruits must now have at least 400 lbs. of body fat.
So I log onto Yahoo! news and see the headline Few Glitches Reported in Early Florida Voting. Then I come to Slashdot and see Computer Problems Already Affecting Florida Voters.
Is it just me, or do all the Slashdot voting headlines sound overly pessimistic? Who says spin isn't alive and well?
We're talking about two different things here. The link you posted contains just the EEs you can buy individually, plus a box. Nothing extra. Whereas Peter is talking about a "super" EE set, possibly with bloopers and other cut scenes. This will likely come come out on the new HD format in several years.
If you want to know all the new stuff that will be on the DVD (Mouth of Sauron, Voice of Saruman, Witch King, Houses of Healing, Crossroads, etc., etc.), here's the most comprehensive site I've found, with photos, commentary, news, and some actual video:
The linked page says that New Line has confirmed it, which they certainly have not, publically at least. Unless it's someone's "secret source", and I think that's a little suspect.
About a week ago, TheOneRing.net posted a link to Video Store Magazine online which contained the December 14 date. New Line made them take it down, here is the retraction.
TORN got a note from New Line as well:
From New Line Cinema writes: There is an error that Video Store magazine ran in their current issue and they are printing a retraction next week. If you could kindly pull the Celebriel post and note this retraction we would be most grateful! Thanks!
All that said, I believe the December 14 date is likely correct. But it sure is not confirmed.
The great thing about Ray..

A Sound of Thunder

· Score: 3, Insightful
The great thing about Ray Bradbury is his amazing ability to captivate with simple short stories. He doesn't even describe what happens at the end of this story, it just ends with the chilling line, "There was a sound of thunder." There's no way even a faithful short film adaptation can capture that magic. In a feature-length film, I'd be surprised if there were any magic left at all. Oh, well. At least the first half of the trailer was enjoyable.
From an AP article about this, it says that CBS was cited:
for acts of self-censorship
Come on, folks, self-censorship is not bad. If I am very angry at someone and want to say or do something harmful to them, but decide not to at the last moment, I have censored myself. That's called self-control. If I decide something is not good and not constructive and decide not to do it, or in this case not to air it, how is that a dishonorable thing?
Let's see, we get fusion in abou 10 years. That's 2014. Maybe 10 years later, we have a terrible disaster. That's 2024. So in 2044, I'm predicting we get a slashdot story about a cute biker chick riding around "ghost town," or what used to be Livermore, California.

If you're an asshat who likes to piss people off, then you're not likely to be working for anyone too long, anyway.
Hmmmm.. let me introduce you to the BOFH
There is a little graph I would like to show [msn.com] you...
Interesting, but a little misleading. You can't even tell there was a 1929 bust using that graph. Try the log version for a more realistic look.

Umm.. Not the used ones, I hope?

You're asking the wrong question.
In Soviet Russia, Konqueror supports GMAIL!
Plus, when they accidentally miss one and blow up, well hey, you've still got 50 more rats in the cage.
Gives new meaning to the phrase Render Farm, now doesn't it?

Hey, silly, these are questions for the interviewer. You weren't supposed to answer them.
I also hear about Frickin laser beams a lot, but they seem to be mostly popular among marine biologists.

This is fascinating, but admit it, folks, half the reason you enjoy this website is that the girl's cute and has just a touch of geekiness.
No web site is configured at this address.
Sounds like, "These aren't the coins you're looking for."
RealAroma was a real leader back in its day. I especially liked the SmellU-SmellMe client.
C'mon, folks, that's a joke. In any case, it's how most people treat copyrighted music on the Net.
Who cares? It's available on the Internet, that means you should be able to do what you want with it. Right?
Google has it covered, easily. You just need to learn how to exclude pages. Try:
java "cell phones" -"ring tones"
I don't see where they're getting these figures. If you drive around slowly enough, all you need for an hour of WiFi access is gas, at most $5
I think FUDge is one of my favorite parts of the holiday season..
